No need to apologise, you do what you need to do. I'm just glad you eventually did get to add your thoughts.

If you have anything to say, I'd love to read it.

I made another Metal Gear thread:
This one is about a very specific subject: Kaz's eyeballs. Feel free to get involved or give it a pass.

Your idea sounds similar to what happened in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, though I guess Raiden wasn't a "whole new protagonist". Not to mention Revengeance was an extremely different game compared to prior Metal Gear titles. Though, perhaps that's the kind of risk you're referring to?

Hypothetically, if there could have been at least one more Hideo Kojima Metal Gear video game before his departure from Konami, what sort of direction would you have liked to seen the game go in? (E.g. a prequel where the protagonist is The Boss, featuring fellow Cobra Unit members such as The Sorrow, or maybe another Raiden focused game?)

I started one a few seconds ago.

I'm considering making a few Metal Gear related forum topics soon. Do you think you'd be interested in posting in them?

I feel it could easily be argued The Sorrow isn't even a villain. Sure, he's an antagonist (meaning he's an obstacle for Naked Snake to overcome), but throughout the game, he can be seen helping Naked Snake and he's even shown helping Old Snake in an easily missable easter egg. Not to mention the details surrounding his death, but that's an entirely separate conversation we could have.

Do you have a favourite quote from the saga?
Old-Snake Aug 21, 2018 12:41 AM
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is my least favourite to actually play through, on account of the unbearable underwater-escort section, but I still consider it another success on Kojima's part due to the meta-narrative and character interactions.

Out of the entire canon Metal Gear saga, only one instalment doesn't belong being considered one of the great gaming experiences. I am, of course, referring to Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. I have a strong disdain for Peace Walker; the missions hardly flow together (this is only apparent with The Phantom Pain too, but due to reasons I'll discuss another time, I don't feel this is a big issue with Phantom Pain) and the story barely makes sense within the timeline when you pay attention. I understand that Peace Walker is a favourite amongst certain members of the fandom, but for me, the only positive is that the game helps to add extra tragedy to the character of Kaz when events of other games are considered.

Absolutely. Metal Gear is something that came about partially due to the era in began within (that being a time when gaming was still forming an identity as an art form and things were still experimental). It was a pioneer as it's time and without it, video games today may have turned out differently. I suspect these reasons are another factor indicating that it's highly unlikely anything else will match Metal Gear in what it achieved and what it was.

That aside (for now anyway), I do wonder, would you say there's a canon Metal Gear game you don't like, or at least would consider the least favourite of yours?

Metal Gear isn't Metal Gear without Kojima; even if a future instalment turns out decent (or even great), it still won't be a proper Metal Gear. At least the Metal Gear saga had a complete story that spanned across many decades, instead of being left with an incomplete series. Sure, MGSV had a lot of stuff cut, but even so, the overall plot can still be fully grasped and understood. Mainly thanks to the closure that MGS4 brought. Things certainly could have turned out worse, and MGSV was probably going to be Kojima's last even if he had stayed at Konami.
