Welp, they're off the baseball field now and back to classes.

The episode is okay but the 20 individuals involved has my attention considering the university sees a lot of potential in them. It'll be a good idea to keep an eye on all of them especially Miyuki.

I have a feeling the roster announcement was meant to be emotional and maybe even upsetting in a way... Yet somehow I couldn't really feel any of it. Once again the pacing was all over the place, and within one episode too - glossing over way too much and then dropping the roster on us in the last few minutes. Ehhh.
But Toujou had some screentime, and we even got a glimpse of Taiyou and Raichi too, so that's good. And maybe the next episode will feature more naked Eijun than this one did.

On a sidenote, for full disclosure: seeing anger on Koushuu's face is not indiciative of anything whatsoever, that's just how his face is. xD

Miyuki sounded extremely reliable when he declared that he was going to hit Naruymiya's pitch.

Seeing the third years in tears at the end was depressing.

Ah it's that time again huh, it really hurt to see the third years who didn't make it. For those who made it in the squad, I hope they make it to nationals this time and win it.

I'm a little bit dissatisfied that boss' emotional speech was cut out. Sure the depression can be felt but I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be not only that during the final scene.

But its nice to see that every chosen members knew what is their responsibilities and what is the weight of it.

Awwww I want to hug them... but then I realized I have no attachment for those third years that weren't picked for roster.

Look like next episode I'll enjoy with Sawamura bathing together with Furuya, and some Masashi Yuki scene.

Ending was sad, I feel bad for the third years but it is what it is. :(

Loved the moment where Miyuki said he would hit Narumiya's pitch.

I still kind of miss the last ED (Chance! was so catchy) but the new music video for Everlasting Dream won me over. If you haven't seen it:

Good job OxT!

Lol, they don't even bother finishing the game, another case where the anime prefers to tell me how they won the game instead of showing it to me. 19 days until the tournament ? Dear lord just start it already I'm losing my sanity.

The roster reveal this episode was very underwhelming compared to how it was presented the previous year.

I love that Miyuki was honest with Mei, who in turn was honest too. xD That was a good way to start the episode. Can't wait for the match between Seidou and Inashiro. I also love that Maezono, and the others offered to help Ono-senpai with his notes too. That was wholesome. And the 20 chosen ones were revealed. And once again three first-years were chosen, and I dare say they deserve it too. But it's still hard to see those third-years like that. Their summer was over before it started. I'm also worried about Sanada's condition. Here's hoping he can have a fulfilling summer in a way or another. And I'm surprised with Furuya, asking Yui to become his partner in the practices and games like that. Here's hoping they can find their ground too.

Imagine having a last shot at something you really want and you don't get it. That's some brutal shit.

Even though I get disappointed by powerpoint slide show level of "animation" (especially since this series have some really excellent animation done in the first two seasons), I don't actually criticize it. I mean I have been tolerating this Tetsu (Haikyuu's Asahi to me) narration of the story for the whole season already~

But this whole episode is done so poorly not only because is almost entirely slide shows, but they skipped 8 whole practice games, Kataoka's speech to the third years, and the narration of those 8 practice games were done so vaguely.

After all that review of the previous matches' yay and nay of Sawamura, Furuya, Okumura, and Yui, they just skipped 8 matches that would seemingly show the first year catchers improving and the hinted change in dynamics in the batteries of Sawamura-Okumura and Furuya-Yui. The scene of the 20 players announcement was so weak and bland since the third years were already getting less screen time for the past few episodes, while the screen time they have actually gotten were also slide shows, alongside how the "impressive" first years just did not "developed further". Can't "feel" the tension there should be for such a momentous scene.
Was expecting the story to show the first years talent and drive, and the third years tenacity and contribution to the team. A great potential vs strong impact on the team kind of dilemma that makes the 20 spots more precious and more cruel.

*sigh*

And Kataoka speech was entirely cut... Even though they did show a flashback to this scene later on, it was done so half-heartedly that I rather they just not show it at all.

It was still heart wrenching though when the third years cried, but my sadness only really surge up after their crying faces reminded me of their contribution to the team like 10-20 episodes back.... Their presence were really non-existent with all that slide shows going on.

Sad those third years didn't get chosen but I got to say the delivery didn't make me feel that emotional compared to the previous year. I don't want to say its lackluster but its just underwhelming.

Aw, Seki ("neh?" guy) didn't make it :( I'm kinda annoyed since I'm pretty sure I saw some no names between the 20.

Takasu and Seto also didn't make it but meh, I don't really care about them. Kawashima too but he was a background pitcher so it's ok. Nabe too but it was obvious since we never saw him even practice.

I got scared when they teased Aso staying. Glad he made it.

Again, the sight of Kataoka bowing to those whose names weren't called and them crying... I'm so soft, man. Made me almost cry.

I like how Eijun just goes to Miyuki’s room everyday. I’m glad the Okumura wants to learn more about Eijun and his numbers. Miyuki is going to guide Okumura and Ono is going to guide Yui.

That’s an interesting development, Furuya want Yui as he new partner. And he’s asleep already lol. The girl with the short black hair definitely like Eijun.

Okumura made the rooster! It’s unfortunate for the third-years, tho, especially Aso. Also, for Takatsu, I really thought he was going to make it. I think he’ll have a chance next year and Seto too.
