Suwa really is best guy, I really wanted him to stay with Naho, also I really disliked Kakeru, at least Naho seems happy. But it was good to actually see how thing turned out in the end.

I personally think it makes sense that she ends up with Kakeru. The events that caused Naho to fall for Suwa didn't happen the same way so she didn't start gaining feelings for Suwa and her feelings for Kakeru became stronger. I wouldn't have liked if Suwa and Naho ended up together in the main timeline because then it would have been going back on his word that he would always support them. He took one for the team definitely, but to make up for what his shitty future self did.

There is still no subs for this right? I guess I will just go ahead and learn japanese, BRB

When I started watching the movie I was really disappointed by all the recycled material. As it went on the story brought me in again. Great conclusion to a beautiful story. We also get a better development behind Suwa's decision and we get to see adult Kakeru.

I wish someday I can say the same to my past self.

also... Azu??? =)

Overall a decent episode for what little production-love this series received. While most of the movie was simply recycled scenes, they gave what they promised; a somewhat deep insight into Suwa's perspective of Naho and Kakeru's relationship.

I particularly liked how they broke down Suwa's perspective of himself and patched it back up. That said, while he definitely was the "best guy" of the series, it was clear that he and Naho weren't meant to be together. In the alternate reality without Kakeru, it was extremely obvious how distant Naho was; not only towards Suwa and their son but to the rest of the group as well. She never really had a full smile until the scene with Kakeru in the future.

Kind of wanted some closure concerning whether Suwa moved on but I guess that wouldn't contribute to the story.

Unfortunately, there wasn't enough OC to stir up my emotions. While they did tie off the ending nicely, the recaps + animation quality watered everything down.

Well this sure was a wonderful perspective shift! Really loved it how they not only managed to sort of recap the main story, but also provide the whole other perspective on the story!

Really touching and just great as a whole! And I really found that ending very interesting how they handled it. All in all a great watch.

So this movie outright confirmed that Naho is a lying skank, and that she would jump at the first chance to be with Kakeru she gets.

Okay.

As if the anime adaptation wasn't bad enough, this COMPLETELY DESTROYED the meaning of the original story and each character's motivation. It went from being a heartwarming tale about a group of friends trying to save their buddy from killing himself, to the story of a self-centered idiot that only cares about her own happiness and nobody else's.

Nice job Takano Ichigo, you just finished destroying your story in the name of money.

What are you talking about?

If anyone is self-centered its Futura Suwa. He was the terrible one for taking advantage of her in a moment of weakness. Past Suwa even said so and even though the other consoled him, he knows his future self did a shitty thing. They said he was a good guy for being Kakeru's substitute, but only this version would have been that if Kakeru still had died. Future Suwa did it for his own selfish purposes. It also shows that even though she was aware of Suwa's feelings because he confessed in the original timeline, Naho only thought about him in that way after Kakeru's death.

I for one think this movie made the series make a lot more sense. As much as it sucks for Suwa, he never had a chance with Naho unless Kakeru died. While his asshole future self took advantage of that, his past self realized that Kakeru was too important to him. His future self said if they had reconciled, then Naho would have rejected him. They technically did, but then Kakeru committed suicide. The series made it seem like that she was gravitating towards Suwa before Kakeru's death, but that wasn't the case at all.

I've noticed a lot of people butthurt that their ship (Suwa x Naho) failed, but it was always going to fail. The only conceivable timeline where they get together is a timeline where Kakeru died. I think there were even subtle hints that they didn't have the perfect marriage as it made it seem. Due to their guilt and regret, plus that fact that I believe future Naho still had feelings for Kakeru. Like when future Suwa wakes up and finds her crying because she was dreaming about Kakeru. Future Suwa didn't look too happy. If it had been Past Suwa from the main timeline, he would have stayed up and consoled her. Futura Suwa though just goes back to sleep.

People that still ship Suwa and Naho have really missed the whole point of this anime. Like seriously what's the point in having two same couples in both timelines. That's just not right. It's the same as watching a 24 ep anime were in ep 1 you get introduced to what the main goal is but in the end nothing changes because *cough* plot op.
I do like Suwa as a character but if he had ended up with Naho again in the second timeline that would literally mean that he killed Kakeru off just to have Naho for himself. If you guys thinks that is fun then please tell me if you would be happy if someone killed one of your close friends off just for his own benefit. Yes I know everyone else could have prevented Kakeru from killing himself but since the future had changed they don't know what Kakeru will do to commite suicide.
Therefore it would just make more sense that Kakeru and Naho gets what they deserved. Also the bs Naho said that she would still choose Suwa only applied to the old(future) timeline wether or not Kakeru was dead or alive. Because in that timeline she never got the chance to have an experience with Kakeru as she did in the present timeline.

Now off with the hate on Kakeru because I too thought he was an annoying character not as much as Naho was but atleast Kakeru had reasons while Naho was just socially awkard and stupid.

Now let them have their happy future without Suwa X Naho fans trying to ruin the whole plot because Suwa got his happines when he saw Kakeru and Naho together but I guess some of you still didn't get it as you were blinded by "best guy" Suwa.

I don't care what anyone says, this is 10/10 for me.....This is exactly what I wanted to see from the new timeline flashforward

Seeing how their kid loves Suwa so much (Whom btw is just the greatest guy ever after watching this and I have the utmost respect for) is just way too kawaii and I'm REALLY happy that Azu and what's his name got together too

Man I loved this so much and @YukihiraBonBon, I couldn't agree more with your post....Well said man (Great first post too)

Finally got a chance to watch this movie. It was pretty good, especially the new stuff. I dont really have a strong opinion as to who I ship Naho with, but its nice seeing how selfless Suwa is.

That part where Naho and Suwa wake up from a dream, about a timeline where Kakeru is alive.... got me a little confused. Was it all a dream or was that a timeline thats about to happen due to the letters??? :P

If you read Orange manga you would realize that what was created was an alternate time line in which Kakeru does not die The original time line still exists in both the manga and the anime though they don't show the dream the Naho and Suwa get of the alternate time line The possibility of an alternate time line was discussed in the manga This possibility has been hashed and rehashed in the scientific community in response to the Schroedinger's Cat experiment Several scientists posited universe in which the cat was both alive and dead

Suwa is a prince in both time lines

I haven't watched the movie, but reading the comments here it seems Kakeru and Naho got together? If so that makes me really happy I was hoping since this movie was announced it would happen and it did!

I honestly never like Naho and Suwa together they just didn't click with me he is an amazing character, but I just can't ship these two together sorry. xD

I want to see what adult Kakeru looks like so I hope the fansubs come out soon so I can just skip to the end lol.

hmmmmmmmmmmmm to discussion above, guess I can only regurgitate my thoughts :-D
glasses and shortie sorry of together both timelines? cute
original timeline Suwa loved naho, leading to his actions, understood his actions and out of love for naho wrote letter.
lettered timeline naho was stupid, screw her, however Suwa still having love to naho cooperated and though pretty sad, did end up quite happy, I am happy for him <3
lettered timeline Suwa and 3rd girl single
babies SUPER adorable both timelines
original timeline gets confirmation <3
I had great distaste for kakeru and naho, but the 10 years future where everything worked out made me very happy.
ok, sorry, bye

I don't get how people are missing the goodness here. You can't turn Naho into the bad guy. Yeah, she was kinda dumb and passive but they were kids. And if moving on from Kakeru's death and trying to be happy with Suwa is wrong then Suwa is equally as guilty for knowingly following through with the relationship when he knew she would probably never lose her feelings for Kakeru even after he passed. It's a tragic story. And it wasn't sad at all seeing Suwa close and loving with Naho and Kakeru's child. It was the moment when you realize he really did cherish his friends and how Naho felt. It was the ultimate love someone could give another. Not everyone ends up with the person they truly first loved, but that doesn't mean you can't move on and grow with that unrequited love. Suwa is really an amazing character.

Lol no the anime felt off for some reason. The character's VA was a terrible decision. The ost's didn't give the right vibe.

Tbh, I'm really glad she ended up with Kakeru, but the ending got me a little confused. There was a lot of recycled material / flashbacks to the prequel, which could make it a little boring for some, but as of myself, I had watched Orange on January 2017, so I was okay, being reminded of all the stuff that had happened in the prequel. But they could've used more story instead of the load of flashbacks. It was too much, not to mention that the actual story started already halfway into the movie.

Watching this made all the feels come out again... liked the recap because I felt it helped setting the vibe and the atmosphere of the story again, so we could get more into it.
Agree that this movie feels like fanservice, but even so I loved it!! When I finished the manga and anime, was happy with the ending, but of course wanted more about the afterwards.
Since I'm more the see to believe type of person, I couldn't be happier to see Naho and Kakeru in the future! Just didn't feel the need to show they had a son as well and they made look worse showing Suwa taking care of him like some sad nanny
Basically I don't think Naho and Kakeru's future should look the same as Naho and Suwa's future

Confusing but interesting the way they showed everyone's perspective and thoughts, like going back and forth, the present, the past and the future, including all the parallel worlds.
It was good to see Azu and Hagita together and of course, this movie made me love and cry even more for Suwa! Seriously, if Suwa really existed, he would be the perfection of a person/friend/boyfriend/husband T^T

Hmm a decent movie. A 7/10 from me.
Good to see a happy ending though it is too sad about Suwa.

Although I still don't get people saying Suwa is just a replacement for Naho in original timeline. She genuinely loves him but the reason that doesn't come to pass in the new timeline is because the events responsible for having those feelings don't happen. So she still loves Kakeru in this timeline. Now that doesn't mean original timeline Naho doesn't love Suwa and would go for Kakeru if he was suddenly brought back to life. In that case she would still be with Suwa in that timeline because they have gone through a lot more events which made her fall in love with him. That is not going to change. And that doesn't make new timeline Naho bad for not noticing or not returning Suwa's feelings. She loves Kakeru and the events that made her fall in love with Suwa don't happen here so she does not love him. As simple as that.
How anyone cannot see or understand this is beyond me.

I disagree. 2nd timeline Suwa would have been a replacement because of the effects of the letters. If Kakeru still died, he would have lived on as Kakeru's substitute. 1st timeline Suwa did it for his own selfish purposes because he went after Naho when he knew she was weak and fragile due to Kakeru dying not long before that. 1st timeline Naho pretty clearly still had feelings for Kakeru even if she genuinely loved Suwa at that point. It also seemed to affect their marriage. When 1st timeline Naho was sobbing about Kakeru towards the end. Suwa acted cold and annoyed and didn't even bother to comfort his wife. If it had been 2nd timeline Suwa in that same position, he would have stayed up and comforted her. Obviously Naho would stay with Suwa in the 1st timeline, but she probably would be very conflicted. It just sucks for Suwa because the only timeline where he has a chance is one where Kakeru dies.

And of course, Kakeru and Naho are a couple in the end with a kid :) It was nice seeing them all look into the sunset.

Yay, Hagita and Azusa end up together in the 2nd timeline! Huhuhu, I was hoping for that :3

I don't care if they recycled scenes from the anime. I think of it this movie as extended scenes they didn't get to use in the tv series.

The after story I always wanted, nice movie.

Most of the movie was pretty much a recap presented with some additional perspective from Suwa's side of things so I don't really have much to comment on since I've already done most of it, that being said the recaps were still fun to watch.

Suwa truly has a heart of gold, why are you such a nice guy Suwa? :(
Honestly, it really is amazing how he supports Kakeru and Naho while foregoing his feelings for her. Lot of bittersweet scenes from his perspective but nevertheless I think it was right for Kakeru and Naho to end up together in the present timeline cause that was one of the main points of the story.

Hagita as savage as always with his comments. XD

Really liked the scene where Suwa cycles by Naho and Kakeru on the bridge. "It's your life, make your own decisions"

It's adorable how Kakeru and Naho's kid loves Suwa so much.

i just don't get all this hate. If kakeru has to die for Suwa and Naho to end up together, obviously they aren't meant to be. Naho loved kakeru so if you hate her for that you're just being ridiculous. Like come on, even in the timeline where suwa is married to naho she seems melancholy and regretful. Suwa acted upon her sadness over kakeru's death and he even says that himself. I know its bittersweeet but you cant hate someone for loving who they want.

thats the point why was she with him if she doesnt like him or love him? suwa was always putting others first then him secound,Naho is retarded ,because she didnt even once think about Suwas feelings, and when Kakeru died, how could she get with Suwa and later marry him and have his child? i mean who in the world does that with a person they dont love, she didnt think about Suwas feelings and how things would be with him. she was only thinking about her self, thats called selfish and a lier.

thats the point why was she with him if she doesnt like him or love him? suwa was always putting others first then him secound,Naho is retarded ,because she didnt even once think about Suwas feelings, and when Kakeru died, how could she get with Suwa and later marry him and have his child? i mean who in the world does that with a person they dont love, she didnt think about Suwas feelings and how things would be with him. she was only thinking about her self, thats called selfish and a lier.

What I'm saying is I do think she loved him in the original world where kakeru died, but she loved him because he supported her through her grief. The only problem is she also loved kakeru in that world and didn't quite get over it. In the second timeline where kakeru doesn't die, she doesn't have that dark time so she doesn't feel that way about suwa. Just because she loved him in the first timeline doesn't mean she has to love him in the second timeline. She's not obligated to him either. She wasn't stolen from him and she's not cheating on him in the second timeline because the events from the first timeline are separate and have no effect or meaning beyond keeping kakeru alive in the second timeline.

I'm also a Suwa fan, but I'm very biased.

It's not 100% confirmed that there is another timeline.
If not, that means Suwa agreed to kill his own child!

No matter how things turn out, there's always ONE person that doesn't exist 10 years in the future.
It's either Kakeru (and then also his child as we have learned now) or it's Suwa's child.

This has bothered me in the series already and the movie has made things only worse.

That kid of Suwa was so cute and now it doesn't get to exist? .... unless there's really more than one timeline? .... Puh ..... -__-
Is Kakeru's life worth more than the life of the kid of Suwa and Naho? ....
.................

Wasn't sure, if right now I could stand watching a movie in which it's all about friendship, but I managed to face it without crying too much.

Suwa really is too good for this world, cause he cares about others first. I wonder if there are such guys in RL too |D

Also love the interactions between all characters. It's nice to see that there are friendships like that.

Hagita x Azu, thats all i ever wated <3

Suwa is seriously the best bro ever. Really hope that whole thing wasn't just a dream and I'm glad the original timeline still exists. For someone who's almost going to leave the school they've been in for years, that last reunion scene brought tears to my eyes.

I felt like the waking up from a "dream" scene ruin the ending of the movie even though it's mostly a recap movie. It makes it feel like the whole tv/manga ending never happen and there's no such thing as time traveling letters. It doesn't matter if Suwa is using Kakeru to get Naho's affection or Naho is using Suwa as a Kakeru's replacement because All this time even after a decade later, Naho is still in love with Kakeru. If Kakeru is alive, Then Suwa has no chance at all anyway and it's better to let the two of them be happy. If the alternate timeline where Kakeru is alive is canon, then there might be a chance he created another timeline where he saves his mother. This could be another movie, but the future might more or less be the same as the one in Naho's dream. lol

Suwa was my favorite character during the series, here too
He is tall, handsome, well built, red haired, selfless as fuck and has the best heart...I would rather have him end up with Kakeru to save him instead of the Bitch Supreme, she would replace him, their memories and their child for a dead mean...after 10 years...JESUS.
WE need to do some charity work.Let's shag Suwa in turns,I'll go first, the man deserves the best

This wasn't bad (while the series was great) but really wasn't necessary and just didn't seem to know when to end.
