This is the most angry I've seen Kenshin in this show but I'm not surprised. After all, Kaoru got taken away.

I think this turned into a thrilling episode as Kenshin took this more personal than some of his other fights. Episode really captured his emotions and he directed that anger to his opponent.

Nah man, despite it being some super serious stuff, that kidnapping attempt was downright hilarious lol. But we still couldn’t overlook the fact that those series of events infuriated the life out of Kenshin, just the kind of thing Jine wanted. I mean just like every other bad guy till now, he too wants Kenshin to return to his old ways of cold-blooded killings, and must say even if it was for a very tiny bit, Kenshin did try but being half-assed was never going to be enough to get past Jine anyways.. and he failed.

It was Jine putting Kaoru under the shin no ippo spell which triggered Kenshin to the extreme, and heck there we saw the shadow of his past self. Kenshin even changing his way of talking plus his overall stance was nothing less than a menace, and heck it was the most BRUTAL we saw Kenshin till now. Just a single strike and Jine was on the floor.

Fight looked great to be honest, and so did the way Jine incited Kenshin to forget his vow of NOT killing people anymore. If only Kaoru wasn’t a second early in breaking the spell, Kesnhin would’ve killed Jine there. Though since he didn’t, Jine took his own life with his own sword, lol. A psychotic till the very end.

Still one of the best cliffhangers i ever seen for a long time. Given Jine's antics kidnapping Kaoru so that he can fight the real Battosai certainly was predictable. The fight between Jine and Kenshin was just dazzlingly good. Even with all his prep and machinations Jine provided what he best represented was tempation for Kenshin. Kaoru's rallying cry though could not have come at a better moment. But even with his death Jine is the first of the trials that Kenshin, Kaoru and their allies have to face and overcome if they wish to preserve the peace.

Kenshin really snapped, the fight was quite intense and ofc Kenshin won. Luckily Kaoru managed to undo the technique and stop Kenshin in time. Also the reveal was good.

Kurogasa’s desire for the old Kenshin seemed to have been granted, as he experienced the familiar intensity, though Kenshin restrained himself enough to spare him from a devastating fate. The swift and forceful blow that Kenshin delivered left a lasting impression. Kurogasa attempted to use this encounter to motivate himself, but his efforts proved futile. He narrowly escaped severe injury, with Kaoru intervening just in time to prevent disaster.

The identity of the individual who initially hired Kurogasa is a matter of great intrigue. It appears that a broader conspiracy is in motion. Although the memory of the orchestrator escapes me, I am eager to uncover this information.

Episode went by so fast! Soma-kun's Battosai voice drop was well worth the wait. You could feel the killing intent. I see why Rieri said Episode 7 was going to be exciting, the action was fantastic and kept up the blitz pace of Kenshin. They nailed his turn to sharp predator like eyes and maddening expression, too, and Sugita was a great Jin-e. If that's what I can expect when we get to later serious battles, I am happy.

I love the little awkward bow and thanks between the two at the end. Cute.

What an episode man 😩 peak 90s style anime showdown here. The animation during the Jine v Kenshin fight was amazing and the gradual transition of Jine from hunter to hunted was wild. Kenshin put the fear of God in that dude.

The voice change from his usual Kenshin to the Battosai manner of speech was awesome. Really felt his anger and murderous intent in every line.

In the end Jine got what he wanted, dying against Kenshin. He was batshit insane and couldn’t be satisfied by anything else. RIP bozo.

We thought we’d left the killing and violence in the past, but it’s clear that someone behind the scenes isn’t content with things the way they are. Looking forward to seeing this conspiracy play out.

Great episode

The endearing bond between Arthur and Stale has an undeniable charm, and Stale's appearance is enhanced by those stylish glasses.

Gilbert's behavior is raising eyebrows, likely due to the troubling course of events he experienced. Despite their efforts, Maria's rescue wasn't successful, leaving me curious about the existence of a genuine healer with magic abilities. Their heartfelt love story added a touch of sweetness to the narrative. It's truly remarkable how he ascended to Chancellor status in less than four years, all for the sake of being with her. One can only hope for a successful rescue mission, as having her as an ally would greatly strengthen Pride's position.
Dude, did we watch the same show? What are you talking about? Lmao.

No no no , you understand nothing. x)

The Manga was not that popular at that time.
It's not until the content that will be adapted in around the 4 next episodes that it started to get a decent amount of reader.
And it got its status of classic work only with the "Kyoto Arc", which won't be adapted in this Season.

What we got in this episode is barely the beginning , and it's considered the least interesting part of the Manga.

He was talking about himself with "Sessha" , and ended his sentence with "de gozaru".
He was basically lowering himself , very humbly.

I'm not that good in Japanese myself , so you will have to wait for someone who is for more explanations.

I don't think she's useless at all. One's usefulness shouldn't be defined by how they are on the battlefield IMO. She provides that normalcy and acceptance that Kenshin needs away from the tip of his blade and is the biggest reason he even reverts back once she breaks through on her own, which is important.

But to each their own.

Kenshin versus Jine was damn epic, that it was lol. The animation was nice and the fight itself had lots of great moments, I also loved the importance of the fight when it comes to who Kenshin is, he had a very noticeable shift in personality there which was really cool. And really, Jine definitely deserved to die there and I don’t think Kenshin would have been in the wrong for it, but it’s also important to understand why it’s a bad thing for Kenshin and why Kaoru stopped him.

I wasn’t expecting Jine to kill himself after all that, but it does make sense, without being able to use one of his arms it would definitely put his sword fighting to rest and that’s pretty much his life, he was a damn cool character tho, a great one to be the first major villain. I was definitely a fan of this arc as a whole, really looking forward to seeing what other wild swordsman show up, because Jine seemed like he was top of the line and you’re telling me this was only the first big bad guy lol.

Kenshin forced to become his old self once again. Jine abducting Kaoru to anger Kenshin enough so he can become hitokiri once again. Jine was able to get Kenshin back to his old self even momentarily, reverting back to his old speech pattern. Kenshin aura during this scene was so intense, the art for his facial expressions were perfect. They captured exactly how intimidating Kenshin can be when he slips back to his old self. Jine attacking Kaoru like this brought back scary Kenshin. His fast movements were so sick. The animation looked so smooth when Kenshin bashed his sword against Jine nose. Every attack Kenshin did was lightning quick, fully unleashing his sword technique like we haven't seen him do thus far. Jine truly cruel using his stun technique to stop Kaoru lung function. Kenshin forced even further backwards into his old self with Kaoru on the verge of death. Kenshin using a deadly move that either wins or loses you the duel depending on if your opponent dodges or not. Kenshin mastering such moves easily beats Jine shattering his elbow. Kaoru being able to break the stun is very impressive and draws Kenshin back to normal. Jine ending his own life so nothing can be traced back, settling things between the two hitokiri. Kaoru saved Kenshin as much as he did for her.

Great episode

Completely agree, I'm loving the fact that they are doing a proper adaptation. This new Kenshin series is adapting a 90s Manga and will inevitably be compared to the original Anime by those of us who watched it. The battle scene was a feast for the eyes, the studio is doing a great job!! The battle with Jine was a great prelude and I cannot wait for Kenshin's upcoming battle with Aoshi

best episode so far for sure. visuals were great and the sfx when kenshin hit jine in the face was- oh myyyy. whole fight was sick, there was tension as well with the shin no ippo placed on kaoru. i prefer the og voice actor by far but kaoru's new VA did a pretty solid job when she broke the technique.

What an amazing episode, my favorite episode thus far.

  • Fight choreography, fire
  • Fight animation, Sakuga!
  • Voice acting by Jine, amazing. Gods, what a lovely deep voice, and all the expressions, *chef's kiss*
  • Voice acting by Battousai with the accents switching around, fantastic

All around a feast for the eyes. Would have liked a better OST (like the older version) but the remake is good.

Finally, an episode has arrived to beat the previous one. Just love it. It shows Battosai's full aggression and it shows the battle in a very smooth way which makes this episode smooth to watch.

The epic battle between Kenshin and Jin'e, all that Kurogasa is asking for is whether if the Hitokiri Battosai has lost his touch from the Bakumatsu Era.

Given their history in the Shinsengumi, and that his deeds lay a fear within him to become a Hitokiri, though that fear has brought him to slay both friend and foe ever since. Though Kenshin knows of the Nikaido Heido stance, adding Kaoru as an innocent into the matter is just dirty play for Kenshin to prove Kurogasa's point, and extracting the very essence of his Hiten Mutsurugi-ryu will help as he also extracts Shin no Ippo to the toughest spell he's ever used since his time in the Shinsengumi.

Clearly, Kenshin sheaves all of the skills he could muster, starting with his surefire-proof Battoujutsu skill, even if his Sakabato sword isn't the best weapon to use that proves victory against Kurogasa. To kill Kin'e is to release the Shin no Ippo skill he inflicted on Kaoru, though she too also broke his skill through sheer power. Though in that glance, what he reveals of the cirrent Meiji Era that has no need for Hitokiris like him and Kenshin, and death is the only plot for a persistent Hitokiri who chooses death than fighting with current government politicians.

Kenshin returning Kaoru the indigo ribbon covered in blood, she's not happy with it. But the age of the Bakumatsu has gone, and there is no need for Hitokiris anymore, so Kenshin will forever remain a Rurouni.

Exceptional episode that claims the purpose of the reboot.

As someone who grew into the anime world because of the first Rurouni Kenshin series, I was very hyped by the story getting a reboot. And thus far I am not dissapointed. Just like the Full metal alchemist reboot, I feel the story progression in a much better pace compared to the manga. And being the proud owner of the entire manga collection of Rurouni Kenshin I just know what awesomeness lays ahead.

As far as this episode, loved every second of it. Especially the sound design from Kenshin when he turns full hitokiri again was just mind blowing awesome.

The fight animation at 6:16 goes so hard
"Your death is absolute" Damn, that's cold. Jin'e brought back Kenshin's shadow that is Hitokiri Battosai. Kenshin substituting a sword for a sheath made Kurogasa permanently useless, but Kenshin cannot use his advantage despite appearances and Kaoru overcomes it all on her own.

Little nuances like Kenshin's different forms of speech really add to this episode.
Interestingly, the fight against Jin'e was the conclusion of the Origins movie.
