I will be honest, this r*pe scene would be even more impactful if Kiruko having period wasn't cuted out. because thanks to this additional scene viewer would also have back of the mind possibility of him getting pregnant which would severely fu*ckt up Kiruko's life.

God damn this show, they made it seem like some horrible shit was about to go down with the kids, only for Kiruko to get raped...

Rape scenes are one of the few things that make me uncomfortable in media, though this was thankfully more restrained than a lot of other anime.

Finished watching this ep around 4 in the morning and damn wow wtaf! The attack on ibakura or whatever the named facility is was really nice finally the test begun. The kids got to see the outside of outside and blue sky with a very very high ceiling/roof, Hope they actually dont go back in the facility and escape and find maru etc from where they share all the knowledge they all have coming to the breaking point of plot. COMING TO THE ENDING PART OF THE EPISODE AHH please someone please helpp me i had a bad feeling from robin the moment he kept delaying his talk mentioning 5 years and saying to relax first, AND THEN HE ASKS HER TO SHOWER nice she had blindedly trusted robin which led to him getting her completely nude pinning her down handcuffing her and this WAS SO SADDENINING AND UNCOMFORTABLE OF A SCENE PLESE ANY MANGA READER GIVE ME HOPE i cant just wait for the next ep I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE hand is there a chance that maru comes in time and saves harurki/kiruko before robing penetrates her..... if there is a slight chance he was unsuccessful of what he wanted to do pleaseee tell meeeeee.

I've never felt this uncomfortable watching an anime episode. I don't even want to keep watching, but since there's only one more episode left I'll finish season 1. But I don't think I'll watch season 2. I was in a bad mood after finishing the episode and that sucks considering we watch anime to have fun and relax.

'Baiting' is basically throwing a statement down, quite often one that's controversial or against the tide or that doesn't make sense, which makes people react to it.
For example if there was a topic about a Green dress and you comment something like 'This dress is too blue for my tastes.'
I'm not mad at your opinion, I just find it interesting to see certain shows highly rated in your list that have similar elements, that go even further than this show has thus far, but this throwing you off. This show however has been a wild ride/crazy experience thus far, so something like this happening in a post-apocalyptic world, where sex is a recurring theme, consensual or otherwise, is not surprising to me.

People are acting like they've been watching a completely different show for the past twelve weeks, think about things a little more and you'll connect the dots and realize how absolutely sad, traumatic and horrifying this series really is, the reason people are acting so viscerally to this particular event is because it's so blatant whereas everything else has been shrouded in mystery and subtext.
As for the theory that Robin was r*ping Kiruko's sister, there are clues that it was a fully consenting situation but I do think it's very possible that Robin played a part in the sister's death judging by his reaction.
Another part I liked in this was Shiro and Mimihime's relationship, they're not such an obvious couple as others are but they're always very cute together.

The performances are very good. The entire show smoothly intertwines three storylines, whether it's the scene of the female protagonist running into Robin with its cinematography and soundtrack, or the rape at the end. The performances rely more on seamless visual storytelling to convey emotions rather than relying heavily on rape, and it didn't have the intense and explosive emotions that I had imagined.

Jfc this episode messed me up. I want to rate it a 1 for hate but this peak content deserves all 5's for what it is, so that's what it gets. This is the first time an anime made my eyes water out of dread rather than tragedy like anohana or angel beats. I feel so sorry for Kiruko the betrayal from being defiled from who she remembered as her loving big brother. Meanwhile Maru decided to allow her, her privacy. This is when realism feels bad rather than good, we would have all loved Maru to somehow guess something was off, or even to follow on a whim to save her just in time. But sadly he did what most would have done, we can't blame him but he will definitely shoulder the blame knowing how he is. What a terrible thing to happen, and off topic but it's all but confirmed that Robin is Taka right? I wonder how he will react coming across his friends son? I wonder what made him become a sick fuck? So many questions

Finally they adapted the disturbing part, I find myself overreacting to it while I was watching it, not in a bad way. Overall though, the mystery thickens yet again. And lastly, Fuck you Robin.

to be fair.... they showed like nothing in that episode. pretty much all of it was just described.

on the other hand the scene in this episode was directed like a horror movie, and the entire episode was foreshadowing something terrible happening.

Poor Kiruko, she got betrayed by Robin who she looked up too! Everything seems to be coming towards a climax with the academy being attacked and falling apart, and this reunion outside of it. Hopefully Maru comes to save Kiruko.

The test has been started. The academy is under attack. The kids are crying and there's chaos everywhere. Aside from that, Maru and Kiruko have now reached a new place where it seems like they can find a clue or two about their further journey and Kiruko who's been looking for Robin for all this time finally met him but there was nothing good about it. I felt very sad watching that. The kids under the facility finally saw the blue sky for the first time.

The episode in itself was incredibly directed and just as masterfully storyboarded as usual. Incredible job. But, a very disturbing episode.

very well said. the absolute joy from the children experiencing the wonder of the sky and being freed. the repulsion of hiruko believing she was free and becoming trapped and terrified. the duality of this episode was powerful. very well done. also very much disturbing and hard to watch.
