Most emotional episode of the whole show, the burden on Gin's shoulder are heavier than anything else.

Finally, I can see Takasugi on the same picture.... A Tragedy like that....

I couldn't stop my tears when Takasugi was talking about his left eye filled with the memories of Shoyo and Gintoki.

OBOROOOO YOU SHITHEAD.. raised from 7 to 9

Takasugi's motives are out in the clear, and now I understand him. Seems like Gintoki managed to cope with his PTSD pretty well compared to Takasugi, though. The ending seems tough, I wonder whether Takasugi actually died.

So much heart and emotion being put into that fight, this episode is amazing as well as this arc, one of my all-time favorite Gintama episodes.

This was by far the best development we've seen for Takasugi's character, it only took 300 episodes but damn ... it was worth it.
Finding out about his left eye and his motives, same with Gin's burden that he decided to take upon himself ... really rough.

Oboro was a nice surprise aswell, since we've only seen him at the Courtesan arc before.

What a masterpiece of an episode. I don't think I've cried like this during the whole duration of one. Everything till now has been leading to this development and it really delivered.
Now I can finally understand Takasugi and his motives.
And Gintoki having to cut off his sensei's head to save his friends, it just shattered my heart.
Never really liked Oboro and like him even less now that he's butted into their fight.
But this is the best Gintama episode to date.

Poor Gin. Imagine that burden and pain he’s been carrying all these years. But I think all three of them carry that burden in their own different way.

This is by far the best episode in this season and the most emotional one I think :(

I have a new favorite episode. Slowly learning about Gintoki’s pad that’s just been insanity, and these fight scenes are so hype.

Omg. Words can't do justice to how great this episode was. Tears won't stop coming from my eyes. Sadly, Gintoki has to kill his sensei. Seeing Gintoki crying broke my heart. The fight is the best I've seen. 100/10 Episode. I freaking loved it

Probably My favourite episode this season

One or maybe the best storytelling and backstory episode ever. I can't believe how well balanced the action and the backstory of Shoyo, Katsura, Shinsuke and Gin were. It made me tear a little bit but the action scene made it stop because of the intense atmosphere around it. Seriously one of the best fights I've seen, the backstories were placed well inbetween the fights but imma the fight once again on YT to enjoy it fully without any breaks. Gin's backstory is done well, not your typical backstory where the mc wants to take revenge on someone after losing an important person. His struggling yet he moves forward without a single thought. Shinsuke is using Gin as his alter ego to hide away his true feelings. This was an incredible episode. The OST in the end was one of the aspects that made me tear up. The animation and effects were insanely beautiful and that ending..
Seems like that guy is back and he ain't giving second chances anymore.

That's FREAKING it! This is my most favourite fight scene in all of anime (because of recent biasy), coming down to a second after the feels calm down but God damn they really put so much in to this fight I never thought I would see this masterpiece in a anime that is so bad thats its actually so good

That was a really bloody fight.

Oh man, just when Shinsuke has come back to his senses, the real enemy has come out of the shadows to haunt them. Is Oboro the true final boss?

The fight was nice but what was even better was the flashback.
Gintoki beheaded their sensei to save his comrades at the request of Shoyo himself.
He knew Shoyo the most but that still pained him even tho he only did what his sensei would have wanted him to do.
Takasugi was just clouded by rage even knowing that Gintoki did nothing wrong.

I'm confused about something. In the fake trailer gintama showed us (dont remember what ep), gintoki was still a kid when he watched shoyo's school burn down. But gintoki was a lot older when he cut shoyos head off. Did I miss something?

It was becouse between time when shouyo was taken an when rebelion started few years passed. Then the war lasted some time and only after the rebelion was destroyed, Gintoki was forced to cut shouyo's head off (after last battle)

Wait so it's Gin that had to kill his master back then to protect his two friends? Shocking revelation I didn't expect that.
And Oboro's appearance at the end! It's even more frustrating

Welp, hands down best episode of the entire series so far.... However, 1 gripe I have about this episode is the arrival of Oboro athend, I think it's better if they just put that scene in the next episode, other than that, budget well spent.....

I've been waiting to write about this episode, what to even say I'm not fully sure,

This episode is pretty much absolute peak of the show, I think its a perfect choice for such kind of episode too. The balance between what I can call one of the best fights in anime history and one of the best flashbacks is pretty much done flawlessly. When it comes to Gintama, comedy always tries to find its place even in the serious and heart touching episodes, but this didn't really felt like the case and I think I'm a little bit happy that it turned out this way.

It really makes me look back to the 300+ episodes I went to get here and witness such an incredible clash of different philosophies of two really admirable characters, the music, animation, emotional moments and conclusion all were done as best as you can expect if you have been watching Gintama till this moment.

For me this is what you can call pretty much a perfect anime episode and among one of the most memorable ones there will ever be, truly a clear and outstanding display of building up hype for that one thing for a long time and making it work just the way that is best

Honesly, can this arc get any crazier from here...

It's not a hard thing to say but this is, and not even close, the best Gintama episode so far. I got a bit teary, but didn't start crying. Maybe I will the second time I watch this.
Seems like things aren't as easy as they were back in the Benizakura arc. Gintoki and Takasugi's connection is not as simple as I thought, it's more than just a random hate thrown at each other. But nooo, Shoyoo! Why does he have to be dead!

Of course Oboro had to arrive now. Honestly if it wasn't him, Kamui would have probably done the same to Takasugi for being "weak" and losing.
Also someone please call Katsura, although I guess he wasn't as important to this story as I used to think.
