Fucking incredible. I love how Madhouse has took arguably the finest arc I've seen in a Shounen Battle series and actually made it perhaps even better. The choice of music was amazing here and the scenes with Chrollo were magic. The Requiem was of course incredible as well.

Seems like I will like Chrollo more than Hisoka now.. Hisoka seems to tone down recently. Haven't seen some actions from him. But anyway, loving that requiem. And they are doing it for Uvo! Tsk tsk.. it's weird. I am starting to love these villains :)

Absolutely amazing episode! I loved every moment of it! Favorite episode so far, and I loved the requiem scene with Lacrymosa in the background! *O* I also loved how the music went into the credits! Does anybody know what the song that went into the credits was? It's not Lacrymosa~ I was just wondering because it sounds like an official classical piece, not just music they made for the anime~

"There's one rule this time. Go absolutely crazy." Before I started this series I always saw people talking about how bad ass the Phantom Troupe is. Now I can see why they get so much praise, Chrollo is especially interesting, since this massacre seems like it's more of a monument to Uvo rather than simply revenge. I wonder if Hisoka is going to use this opportunity to challenge him. Ah man, another night without sleep is on its way!

decent episode.
Totally skip the whole neon boss girl. Don't really like her at all.
Wow, the ending totally change the atmosphere to it. With some evil music holly shit that makes them so evil and powerful at the same time.
Now starting to like that little mask guy especially this holy shit.

the prophesy and chrollo is fascinating
this arc excels at the mystery noir feel, what a change in atmosphere from the beginning of the season
the phantom troupe are def one of the top shounen villains. what a cohesive group of coldblooded murderers, you really understand their menace

so even Chrollo mourns the death of Uvo??? Phantom Troupe is one weird group of bad people... in a good way

there are 13 Troupe members... according to that bitch, 11 months mourn.. I'm guessing another Troupe member will bite the dust. and the 11th member quietly rises.. that must be Hisoka

That was excellent. The poem lacrimosa in the background the montage of carnage. It had the feel of the climax of an actual gangster film.

This show is actually pretty dark, masked in a fluffy borderline kodomo exterior. It should feel contradictory, but instead it feels balanced

Now I get why this is like a sleeper Shonen hit. This has got to be the second most gorey shonen I've ever seen.

From the point when Mozart's Requiem started playing till the end it was awesome. I really wish Neon was wrong about that fortune, but it seems like only half of the Troupe's members will die n the boss will live n find new allies . Too bad for Kurapika.. I'm loving Killua's daddy and grandpa as long as they don't want to kill our main 4 :D

I totally and agree with this part 100% exactly my thoughts:

It is balanced very very well! which is the goriest shounen that you've seen?

"Brutal Battlefield" is right. Geeeeeez. ∑(゚Д゚)

As cliché as a glorious requiem playing during depictions that feature disgusting amounts of bloodshed and horror is, it's remains effective at what it does. Like the ending on mute to finish its phrasing.

Boss is interesting for the first time in his pseudo flirty role w/ what's-her-face-other-Boss. They make a nice pair, seeing as they're a millimeter from sociopathy.

Edit: OH DUDE that's Mozart's last requiem isn't it? I thought it sounded familiar. One of the few Mozart pieces that I can get behind and it's 1000% awesome. :D

That ending though. XD

seriously, i really liked it. i'm surprised that the phantom troupe cared as much as they did over uvogin's death, to be honest. they didn't seem too close, more like they got along with each other, but they were mostly there to kill and steal. to see such a reaction to the loss of one of their own was a nice surprise. it makes me like them a little more. (my favorite will still probably be uvogin.... maybe hisoka. i'm still not sure on my feelings for him.)

i was also pleasantly surprised on the background music that was used during the requiem, since i just sang that very song in choir not too long ago..... and i'm glad that they kept playing lacrymosa during the ending credits. if they had switched to the upbeat hunting for your dream, it would have killed the emotions felt from the episode.

Fuck yeah, this episode was brutally awesome. These are some of my favorite moments in the manga. Chrollo using that requiem to mourn his death.

There is going to be a blood bath, as both sides clash. Can't wait to see silva and zeno in action. Finally Chrolo's ability is introduced, still as crazy as ever, great quality and animation in this episode.

The first verse essentially says he'll mourn for lost comrades, be injured, but will remain strong, and to find new teammates. When chrollo refers to the "ghost" he is speaking of Uvokin.

One of the most interesting themes presented in this episode is the fortunetelling that neon gives chrollo and how much significance it actually plays and how each verse is pivotal to the events that are transpiring. The way the anime introduced this was pretty awesome in almost a melancholy type of way. Like an orchestra taking place during the invasion. It was just simply put "Beautiful"

The bgm/ost was really intense and really added an extra chilling effect to the Phantom Troupe going on a rampage.

Also can't believe I didn't realize till this episode that Chrollo is voiced by Miyano.

Mmmm, I'm confused. Am I supposed to feel empathy for the Phantom Troupe? Because I have none. It's just a group of psychopath, of interesting psychopath though. But seeing them die won't make me sad, it makes me more happy than anything else :D

They are really strong though. The Mafia sending a bunch of gorillas is pretty stupid. Haven't they understood already that those cannon fodders have no purpose? It's not even slowing them, they're just having fun and humiliating them further.

They are a band of thieves and Uvo's philosophy was " if you want something , steal it.."

Wrecking havoc seems pretty freaking logical in this case....

Nice to see animes use mozart.

i remember one time i was on a classical music spree and i was listening to this song. my brother had heard it and came in saying, "Hey, the Hunter X Hunter song! How'd you find it?".

i literally laughed and waited him to reveal it was a joke, but when his face wasn't changing i realized i made a mistake.

he actually thought it was an original HXH song. which meant he'd never heard it in his life beforehand.

my other brother isn't as good either. he'd heard it from some sample beat and thought the beat maker had made it up.

never been more embarrassed for them since.

HybridMBL said:
Wow the music in this episode was really executed well. The highlights were when Chrollo was reading his fortune and then obviously the Requiem at the end. I'm not too bummed but I kinda wish they coulda somehow transitioned into Hunting for your Dream at the end somehow.

i love irony music scenes. they're done so well. well on a technical level, the song is a ABOUT death basically so it fits 200% but the as for the MUSIC, it's calming and very gentle.

yea, that credits idea would have been cool, but i don't think anyone let alone M/H could do it with the OP images it had without some awkwardness.

shoot, really? depending on his health problems (aka hiatuses) that'll take 3x more than if he was well! which means HXH will last forever.....muehehehehe ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

....no, i don't think that. uvo definitely wasn't likable as a person (not as a villain) . i think it's just showing how the phantom troupe deal with bid'ness they care about.
------
this was horrifically violent :o dem heads and everything!

but ever for the fish scene being violent THAT WAS STILL SO COOL.

and do i even need to note the perfectness of the OST?

this episode went through me like melted butter. so fast and as always i was saddened to hear the ED again.

chrollo is not that interesting to me except for the fact that hisoka wants him so bad (take that phrase into whatever you will :p). the next ep will be sure to reveal how chrollo deserves hisoka's attention for sure.
