Man it must be awful to say "brb going for a coffee lol" to your wife, then next thing you know a goddamn screw going at 8km/s hits the window right next to your wife and she gets vacuum sucked into space ;_; poor yuri.

Also, please wakamoto-sensei don't let some cancer kill you yet!

another awesome episode.

This has to be one of my favorite episodes so far. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, and really, Yuri's background is tragic, but touching in a way. I'd have to say the last scene was pretty inspirational.

The sequence here is different but even though it was not followed on the previous episode I still like it. Since you can go random when you're out in space

After all this years he finally found the compass!!

It's sad his wife was taken away by that screw we keep seeing at the beginning of the episode.

So can we say Yuri's wife predicted this and wrote, "please save yuri" on the compass??

I think that was just bad English, since in Japanese she says "mamotte" which better translates to "protect" so it really should say "Please protect Yuri."

Anyone knows the name of the song that plays around the 20:30 mark? It starts right when Tanabe manages to catch Yuri. I've listened to the whole OST but I couldn't find that particular song.

Poor Yuri. He's awesome and tragic. :( I loved that he found her compass, though.

Yeah, its funny, just as he was telling his wife how silly it was to still be scared of spaceplanes (or whatever they're called) I remembered the crash from the beginning, but never thought it would be the same one. :(

Seriously. I guess it just goes to show that you never know what will happen and any moment could be your last, so you should always try to live well in the moment. :)

I'm glad that the series has picked up a bit after the rather mediocre first quarter. It's still nothing spectacular but at least moderately entertaining. But this episode was just ridiculous in its amount of coincidences used. They really should build space shuttles better if a screw hitting a window can cause it to explode so violently that debris (including objects as large as human bodies) spreads so far that bodies can't be found. Even without space junk there are meteorites etc. And the whole compass thing... we're not talking about a remote control you lost in your living room. It's like losing a compass *somewhere on Earth*. It could be in Mexico, it could be in China, it might not exist anymore. Then one day, just when you had been thinking about it (the white carnations as a memorial), on a small alley in Cape Town you happen to find it dangling in front of your eyes.

This.

Basically just a good luck charm hoping nothing bad ever happens to Yuri, and it something does happen, he makes it out okay.

Touching story, clearly the best episode so far.

Kind of predictable but it was still very intense. Everyone has their own strong reasons for doing this kind of work. I'm glad they spent time on Yuri's backstory. I hope they continue to show his growth.

Was definitely a sad episode kind of . . . The moment when he left his wife saying "don't worry I'll be right back" . . . Sad. Anyways, still hoping that the romance picks up and is resolved before the end.

You don't fucking mess with the Russian man. He was made of win the moment he was voiced by Koyasu.

I knew it. I knew that was the girl at the start of the first ep. But well, that's very much obvious, but wooohooohooooo things are connecting. Great fucking episode.

Two down.

I have never felt so stressed out while watching anime. I am really getting teary eyed over these episodes lately. It's overwhelming and intense and I still don't feel 100% connected to the characters but it's intense. Geeze.

Went ''missing'' :(
As soon as I saw the flashback, I knew she was the girl from the beginning. I have a good memory for faces. Poor Yuri, he can't feel anything at all anymore.

Damn, Hachimaki sure was in a bad mood this episode. He all lashed out on Ai. At least, Ai was so much in her thought that she didn't seem to notice :P

Tanabe daydreaming on the job and nearly gets Hachi killed.

This episode covers Yuris past which was actually the very first chapter of the manga. So they reordered the stories a bit.

How lucky can you get to find an object of the size of a compass in a space of the size of infinity? Okay I guess the compass wouldn't leave earths orbit because of physics reasons that I am not able to comprehend. But still - damn lucky.

yea what with that compass going 8-10 km/second its a nice catch.
to top it, he throws plastic flower thattaway (once a year?) and calls it a day? thafuk?

(It is believed that any fragment of space debris larger than 1 centimetre will penetrate the walls of existing satellites/spacecraft.
Particles such as paint flakes (under 1 mm) can cause small craters in walls and windows.)

and tanabe.. its like every episode has to find a way to remind us that her mental age is around 10 yo.

Tanabe was troubled, wondering if she should tell Hachimaki about his sensei's condition or if she should keep it a secret like he asked, and it was getting in the way of her work, but this one was a Yuri centered episode, and since I've liked him for a while now, I loved to know more about him, even though it was pretty sad.

Tanabe asked him about losing someone you love without being able to say a proper goodbye without knowing that this is what happened to him. He told her that you don't feel grief or anything, you just feel empty. All of this time he has been searching for the compass his wife had when she died in that accident. It was a pretty poignant episode, and for a moment I thought that he was going to join her in the afterlife, but his teammates managed to save him. It was moving, and as I thought, Hachimaki only asked Tanabe if she was seeing someone because of his friend.
