And here we are, the make up episode. Again, idk if it is just me, but this do seem to be tugging heartstrings too much like damn, the drama here kinds wack.

I suppose in a simple adventure tho, I shouldn't hope for too much. But eh. I like good stuff.

I mean from Pauls perspective he lost everyone except norn and knew it from the start, this was nearly 2 years later and only then did he find Rudeus, Rudeus didn't know the scope of it since he was dead centre of the incident so his mindset on it would of been more relaxed thinking he just needs to get home and it will be fine.

I get that the situation is bad all in all, but how it is gone over is kinda sucky, like just the execution and its back and forth nature. But again, not exactly specialised in drama so I won't penalise it too much, but it likes to make scenes sad consistently.

I can give my praise to later episodes tho for being dedicated to this kinda stuff.

Like how they're showing Paul's perspective and again, everything depicted in the beginning is always a beautiful sightseeing but ngl Paul looks like he has gone through a lot of stuff and I feel empathy for him. Wait Geese came out of nowhere but didn't know he's a mutual of Paul. Also Rudy appeared out of nowhere scared the fuck out me ;-;. Holy fuck that bread animation was the most semi-realistic thing that's ever been adapted :o Oh god Eris actually did confront of the father aggressively, showing how much she cares about Rudy but too bad Ruijerd interrupted and started to carry Eris xD Damn Paul and Rudy being alone is most anxious thing I have to see after that last episode but I'm glad they were able to make up for it but damn that bartender really wants Rudy to actually show his feeling ;-;. And them bringing OG Rudy playing his video games as usual is sure depressing as usual to look forward to and that hug is one of the sweetest thing I've seen and made me teared up ;) Also wtf Eris's face is injured, guess she's very aggressive with Paul but again, someone must protect her at all cost :<

What an emotional rollercoaster.

Geese comes back and gives Paul the talking to that he deserves. Bro, your son was sent to a place he wasn't familiar with trying his absolute hardest to escort Eris back to her home. You didn't have to be so inconsiderate. I get that you expect a lot from your son, but that was simply too much!

Hence, I'm glad that Geese got you to understand that fact and you made up with Rudy.

It is sad to hear that Eris' home may not exist anymore. Unfortunately no one knows that Eris' grandfather was beheaded.

I'm excited to see what adventures come next.

Emotional episode, I liked it. It felt good to see them make up, especially with Rudy's flashback. Sad and wholesome ending as well. Seems like Eris has already thought about that possibility, but I don't think she knows that her grandfather is dead and from what I remember they were pretty close.

Also Geese is good.

The flashbacks to his previous life are still very sad and disturbing

Eris wasn't in this episode much but she's becoming a favorite of mine, her defense of Rudy when Paul came in the bar and Ruijerd had to carry her out was great,

This anime is ranked #29, why aren't the episodes listed here in MAL?

ಥ﹏ಥಥ﹏ಥso emotional. I really love Paul & Rudeus relationship. Of course he would come find you again, Rudy, he’s your dadㅠㅡㅠ

The ED hit at the perfect moment. The feels!!!!! With a proper reunion, Paul is picking himself right back up.

I really love the character designs of the buff adult men. So hot all of them. Paul, Ghislaine bro, Ruijerd lol. Droooool. More pls.

And omg Geese lol!!!!! Best boy?? XD

It shouldn’t take someone else to tell Paul how to act as a normal human no matter what state he was in. A better reunion the second time round thanks to Rudys past experiences.

Gotta say I love how Rudeus realizes that he's overreacting. The good thing about this anime is that it doesn't take the easy route with things like this. I'd expect normally that after the fight, some lazily written problem (his little sister getting captured, for example) takes place, and by overcoming that together they settle their differences. That's just fucking boring and easily foreseeable.

Instead, Rudeus reflects on how stupid he was and admits that he, too, could improve. Something that A LOT of people should do in reality, which they never do. While isekai is one of my least favorite genres and many tropes certainly are checked off the list, I'm willing to suspend my disbelief because this is one of the more well written series to date, taking a more mature point of view on social problems such as this.

Not to say it's perfect, though. I absolutely hate when stuff like violence (Eris & co beating Rudeus up for practically no reason at first, for example) is just swept under the mat or made out to be comic relief. It's not mature to just forgive and forget someone assaulting you. Yeah, they live in frugal and fairly brutal times in an unforgivable environment, I get that. But still. And the pervy stuff.. while admittedly sometimes funny (Demon Lord chibi whatever the fuck it was comes to mind), it tends to bring a sense of naivete. Then again, where's the development gonna come from if Rudeus isn't scum in the first place?

Oh, and Geese is obviously the God-Dude Rudeus sees in his dreams, right?

Sorry for the essay, got inspired.
uh oh!

What an awesome and hopeful mid point for this 2nd season!
Paul final got to reconnect with his son and even was able to make up with him after a sour reconnection.
Paul certainly isn't a paragon and is woefully flawed as a person, but as Rudeus said, they are both human and make mistakes. I was legitimately tearing up at that hug.
Geese came through as a supporting character, and I hope to see more of him as this series goes on. On that note, I am curious if their will be a fourth party member added to Dead End soon. Eris and Rujied are great as is, but I would if we will get a band of 5 situation. As long as the character building continue to be a 4-5/5, I'll welcome any additions!

Man the water works this episode.

We got to see a little bit of how much Paul struggled after getting teleporting as well.

Geese best man, what followed was because of him.

The reuniting scene was emotional and very well done, the dialogues, the background music, everything made up for a solid atmosphere, tears were flowing down my cheeks before I noticed it. I'm happy they made up.

Still feel kinda bad that Norn is cold to Rudeus but it's understandable from her POV.

Great episode again, they continue their journey and will now visit the central continent and hopefully find Lilia, Zenith Aisha, Ghislaine and others.

5/5.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.

Paul's been through hell with his perspective shown in the show, Feels like Norn did most of the cheering up and I'm glad she's there for him, Geese yet again my man can't escape the screen time

That was a scary realization by Paul if things happened like that, That bread is too perfect to be that animated holy weakest Studio Bind animation, Eris' angry face lmao (no one here has a screenshot at least fine I'll do it myself)

Is he really called a barman for me that's a wingman (I know it's a bartender but you get the point), Looking at the person you're talking to does help empathize with what they think and with that Rudy saw his past self within Paul, This story's going good so far I might say It's not fast-paced but why does it feel like a 12 min episode, OKAY what the hell happened to Eris I refuse to believe this happened lul.

Wow, I'm speechless at how they resolve the mess of conflict in the previous ep so beautifully. The story is so well thought out.

Rudeus and his dad made up, in one emotional hugging scene. I'm relieved that Paul is still a reasonable person and hopefully understands his son's own hardships although the kid doesn't say it outright. Paul has it tough, not only having his daughter but other villagers to save, no wonder why he's so depressed, more so when considering his personality. He is weak to some degree for sure, but he's still a better man than previous life Rudy. They resolve the situation so beautifully that I tear up a bit when Paul cries.

This anime keep surprising me with quality.

So if Paul is almost 30 and Rudeus is 11, does that mean Paul and Zenith and chose to settle down and have a kid at 18/19? And they reached S-Rank Adventurers even before then?

Wondering how much adventuring they did as teenagers, and if it's normal to do that much as teenagers in this world.

I love family themes... Rudeus and Paul making up had me in tears. I've been wanting to see more of some kind of connection between Rudeus and his family for awhile, so the hug had a lot of impact. I didn't think we would see it since Rudy's connection with them is a bit broken because he's mentally 40 and it didn't seem like he had a proper attachment to his parents.
The few minutes we saw of what happened to Paul when the mana disaster happened was eerie but really well done given that they only showed it real quick, having to take care of such a small child while desperately trying to find his family.
I also love that Eris is that one friend who will definitely beat up the person that hurt you.

Geese is DA MAN. He helped out two Greyrats in just a span of a few episodes. Great for someone who's just a minor character.

It's great that Paul and Rudeus made up. It'd be depressing if both of them were still fighting after being reunited a year and a half later. The hug genuinely made me tear up. It was so sweet.

I don't think what Paul did last episode was right. But I understood why he did that and said those things. He thought too highly of his son and forgot he was a human too. And he was also overworking himself just to find his wife, Lilia, and his daughter Aisha. He was so stressed he couldn't think straight. His high expectations of Rudeus disappointed him. But all should be well now.

Also, loved Eris again in this episode. She's growing on me a lot. Though I never hated her.

Wonder what's gonna happen next.

^ sigh

bread

Was thinking mostly about Paul in the previous episode, and sympathized with him a bit more as they showed how he dealt with the aftermath of the teleportation during the OP. But I wasn't really thinking about it from Rudeus' perspective; who, finally saw his father again after a dangerous journey across the demon continent, only to find him a broken man, blaming him and putting him down. That was also the moment he received the terrible news that his whole family was also missing all this time, that it affected the whole area including their village, having razed everything leaving nothing left. It would be almost impossible for anyone to bounce back from hearing all of that. But Geese understood; and thank goodness he was there to not just knock some sense into Paul, but to enlighten him as well. He wasn't thinking clearly through the drinks- but Geese was there to put his sober mind back on track. MVP, along with Ruijerd for getting an angry Eris out of the way (which is really cute btw, seeing how much she cares for him now), who offered Paul some simple but sage advice on his way out. And let's not forget the bartender, who got Rudeus to stay and finish what needed to be said- which Rudeus does. Rudeus looks at himself and remembers the time where had pushed away a friend- but never went after him to apologize. He then looks at Paul and sees a man who overcame his pride and came to him to apologize. He sees that in that moment, despite technically being the older one, Paul was being the grown up that Rudeus never quite was. It would be a sin to throw this all away. They both say they should've and wanted to say all this time, that they've missed each other. Damn. It's enough to make any grown man cry.

I remember totally being immersed into this episode before, and it has the same effect now. I'm sure this whole part in the light novel was done justice, where it probably is even better.

Now the 3-man dead-end party is parting ways once again, on back to the central continent to find their families, with the knowledge that everything was destroyed, but with the hope that there's still someone left to find.

The way so many modern anime series feel the need to contrive a reason for some kind of tearful emotional outburst in every single episode is so tiresome. This is at least the third episode in the row where someone has cried, please just stop.
