Once you finish watching it you should read the ending of arc 3 (it didn't make it into anime but will most likely be the start of season 2) and arc 4. A lot of question are answered includingThis episode has left an AMAZING impression on me. Extremely intense, as confused and in shock as I was with Steins;Gate, intrigued in the characters and already wanting to learn more. This is going to be a really good series, isn't it? Awesome, awesome! ^_^ Episode was easily a 9/10, or maybe a 9.5/10. Who hired Elsa? |

What a weird first episode. All of the jokes fell flat for me, but the anime seems to have an interesting concept. I'll give it a few more episodes. |

Colour me impressed, what a great start. So Subaru can somehow go back in time to where he meets the "appa" shopkeeper for the first time when he dies, which is according to the comments I see here, time travel. Not weird considering he knows that he in fact died back there and still remembers everyone he met. The old giant shopkeeper and Felt were a nice duo. Was wondering why Puck was acting so strange when Satella mentioned her name to Subaru in 01A, we find out at the end of 01B :) Show already has left a huge impression on me after the first episode (01A and 01B), characters are great, story seems interesting despite not knowing where this will go yet. Only thing that is overused is the MC ending up in a fantasy world always being a hikikomori, a fit one though, he sure knows how to fight for himself. |

Literally, just seconds ago she just got something stolen from her which she was in a rush about. She wasn't very hesitant just hesitant and decided to him help because her conscience didn't agree with just leaving hm. Emilia choosing the help child faster than him is also super irrelevant because at the that point they pace had already slowed and most people naturally have prior to help children before adults. I would done the same thing in her shoes. |

The only redeem aspect and what got me into it was the time travel. Mod Edit: removed bait |

Well, this anime is extremely generic. MC is an idiot, because he is a gamer but didn't even realize that he "loaded" to previous save state and just ignored the fact that nobody recognized him. Dialogues are boring, characters are typical, some people here mentioned some jokes, but where are they? Everything is plain and primitive, another "wow, so FUN" bullshit anime with 25 episodes because people like to overhyping anything new. I have watched already dozen of anime in fantasy and "I am in the game world" styles anime - all of them were much better. Gaiking said: You forgot to take your pills obviously, the whole Re Zero trash can't compare with only one first day from Stein Gate's universe.Laughing so hard right now! Stein Gate as anime is much worse than visual novel but still unique, RE Zero is just ridiculous combination of Mirrai Nikki with all this unnecessary cruelty for forever teenagers like you, of Edge of Tomorrow for gaming thing "load previous state" but in typical fantasy cover. So fresh, yeah, masterpiece for tasteless people only which can't live without hype. Steins Gate is trash son. Been my first "1" I gave and sucked the most out of my "1s" After 18 episodes, I had it. MC like I said is just stupid or it's just author's fault and he is an idiot, but as always there are bunch of apologists of everything, simple as that. "Oh, just watch! Just admit that this anime is another harem with cuties and that's it, "reload" feature here is formal only, it's an another excuse for anime's primitive nature. It's not a harem. If you think it is, prove it, rather than expecting everyone else to simply "admit" it. The MC thinks he's in a fantasy world like those from VNs and games he's played. He believes himself to be special and that the world he's in is something he's used to and is a good-player-at. But he learns it to not be the case. He's intended to appear stupid. He's good reason to believe what he does. Yeah, 'shock-content'; we gotta be told well how painful those experiences are, because it matters much to the MC. ... Eh, that was confusing to read. You mean that we couldn't make sense out of the deaths just as they happen? Reason for some are made a mystery--but one like the one where the MC dies to one of the thugs the viewer can figure out by themselves. And the MC is kinda hard to fix; it'll take work from the author's part, eh. You may notice that in the way he behaves, he's pretending to be something he isn't. ... As I meant, the characters aren't what you might be judging them to be. You don't know their motivations. And as I heard, Light Novels are difficult to adapt, for how long they are. Dood, you should work on your grammar. o_o Confusing to read. ... since I already saw your anime list and yes, your role here is too obvious This argument works both ways, it's not going to lead anywhere constructive. just like the role of dude before with avatar of heroine from this anime. ... Have you actually watched the anime? His avatar is a Re:Zero character, yes, but she's not the heroine. She doesn't even appear in the anime. How many girls in this anime? A bunch. And how they are look? They all typical kawaii material. Most anime have a lot of female characters (and there's nothing wrong with that) and they're always cute. Does that mean most anime are harems? Is there a love interests including MC? Yes. Case closed. There's a grand total of 1 girl who's romantically interested in the MC. That's not enough to make it a harem. Or if so, then steins;gate, madoka or FMA are harems too, and then accusing an anime of being a "harem" doesn't mean anything anymore. There are no any "characterization". All these "My name is Satella!" and "I am a half-elf!" isn't enough. Next. It obviously isn't only that. Rehls already gave bits of Subaru's characterization in the first episode. This analysis goes further (mostly for Subaru and a bit for Emilia), and shows how his actions later on in the series were consistent with his characterization in the first episode: http://www.fanservicecheck.com/blog/how-rezero-just-became-the-most-subversive-anime-of-the-year |

I never said that I am smarter because I only talked about simple sanity and I didn't said a thing about taste itself, because you know there are people that literally eat shit and love it (coprophagia), it can be called a taste too, but obviously taste is too common word when it has different implying meanings. If you calling me a hipster-elitist as an opposition to your die-hard faith, then you must be named as everyman, conformist and dupe. For Episode 0: That was a good start. I immediately fell in love with Emilia; she's so gorgeous. And Subaru was brought to a parallel world with demi-humans for unknown reason. Haha. He was just in front of the convenience store (no censorship for that Mini Stop, maaan. Nice). Emilia's insignia was stolen and the one who stole it was Felt and Subaru is helping Emilia to find it, though she introduced herself Satella. Y? Hehe. Emilia and Subaru went to the loot shop and found dead bodies, and was immediately killed. And Subaru woke up? So, once Subaru died, he can go back in time? Holy shit. For the second time, Subaru met Felt and that Old Man Rom. I immediately loved them two. They call the cellphone a "metia". Pffft. Apparently, someone asked Felt to steal Emilia's insignia and it's that woman. HOLY SHIT. I knew something's fishy with her the moment she entered the shop. When she just heard Subaru said that he'll give back that insignia to its owner, she just went killing everyone. Fuck. She killed Old Man Rom and Felt, then Subaru. I wonder why, though? Jesus. And Subaru woke up back in time and he saw Emilia alive and well, and he called her name "Satella" who's apparently the name of the Jealous Witch. And Emilia can't remember him. Waaaah. This episode is so intense, maaan. Jeez. |

I may be almost 2 years late... However, time does not stop me to watch this! The first episode is amazing, from the picture quality to the sound... And a 50-minute episode (for the first one) is great! More time/episode = More story told! Subaru's reaction to him being summoned to this world and what he did afterward is truly fresh. Totally not being a cliche makes me happy. And I have a similar reaction like Subaru when seeing [Insert Girl's name here] in this episode I'm looking forward to being engaged in the story! I wish I was watching this anime back when it was aired... (T^T) |

Been holding off on this anime for a long time but I'm glad I finally started. I already like Subaru as the MC. He would be a cool guy to have as a friend. And he has the ability to reset time after every death? After watching Higurashi, I know that's going to be brutal in many ways. |

Finally time to watch this very popular series... as expected, this was really interesting. Giving 50 minutes for the first episode really made it a great pacing overall, and while not totally surprised by all the gore, violence and blood, it did left a strong impact. Hope it keeps it goes this way. Also that ending, Emilia was MAD... |

Well, finally I got to watch this popular anime. The begining was interesting and quite fun. To my lucky I will enjoy this with spanish dub. The next week will be the first episode to have the spanish dub. |

Wasn't expecting the isekai aspect to be this prominent, but I'm okay with it as long as the world gets fleshed out. Subaru is a bit annoying, but not unbearably so. Elsa is sexy; yandere girls are my fetish fuel. I hope we see more of her. I'm curious how Subaru died in the real world. Seeing him get transported to the fantasy world without any explanation was a bit jarring. Interesting how offended the white-haired girl was when Subaru called her by Satella after the second reset. Maybe every time Subaru dies, he respawns in an alternate timeline with some slight differences? Solid first episode; reminds me a lot of Erased and the second half of Steins;Gate. I'm interested to see what happens next. 4/5 |

Well, I watched the first half of the episode when it was released and was hopeful. Nothing too original, but I liked that the heroine isn't very "tsun" despite not being very honest. It is refreshing from the usual tsundere. I didn't have a strong opinion of the MC. Overall the start wasn't so good that I wanted to continue, nor was it so bad that it was taken off the list of anime I would like to watch. Just now I finished the full 50min first episodes and.. I must say that my opinion of the MC has gone down. It didn't take him long to realise that he is in a "game-like" settings at the beginning so why was he such a moron after the reload? It didn't seem like he forgot anything, so when people had no idea what he was on about, he must have realised that for whatever reason he got to reload. And even if he wasn't sure, he picked some of the worst options on his second run. Won't write off the anime based on a double episode, but I am going with a mixed first impression. |

This isn't much of a spoiler as you might be able to figure out how the time travel mechanic works in the later episodes. It is related to him dying. His power/ability is to retain memories from previous timelines, since everything undergoes a reset (his body but not his mental state) when he dies. The anime doesn't explicitly state this but his memories are jumbled, and when he tries recalling them, the anime shows the memories to be quite hazy. The memories he retained well are shown without the haze. The more he dies, his ability to recall more hazy/un-hazy memories increases. He still is a huge moron on other aspects though, much of it is related to him being a lowly shut-in/twixter/hikkomori NEET. |

@KreatorX I see, thanks. I was under the impression that he was just confused at first because he could remember that one moment he was laying in a pool of his blood, and another he was standing in front of the ringa store. If I remember right, he leaped into action pretty quick after his first death, not showing much sign of forgetting anything (he knew which of the three stooge had a knife and went for him first, remembered the location of the loot house in a capital city etc.). I do not recall an instance in the anime where the hazy memory played a tangible role. (I just finished the anime.. will post some thought in the episode 25 thread when I have the time) |

-I like how quickly he was transported and how he immediately became acclimated to his situation. -The first 20 mins weren't very interesting and felt very contrived, but did a serviceable job of providing character development and introducing a bit of the world. Apparently elves are discriminated and there are racial tensions such that demihumans such that there exists race-exclusive bars. Also the deliberate use of a slum setting where literally any type of village would have sufficed. -Excited to see how the time travel aspects will play out later in the story once Subaru figures out how to take proper advantage of his ability. I would have thought that someone who had so quickly grasp how he'd been isekai'd would have attempted to formulate something, anything to prepare for what was to occur that evening, but he didn't even make an attempt. Obviously he didn't have much information to work with anyway, but I would have expected him to at least drop a hint to be on guard or something. -That girl had told a stranger that her name was that of a witch the first time around, but upon the second time didn't want to be called that. Did this imply that she really fell for the isekai protag and let her guard down to an extreme extent in the previous instance? They did start to build some chemistry though, however that's been reset. -Rom is awesome. Satella (Emilia?) appears to be the tsundere of the show who's kind-hearted, and Subaru is alright with a "cool guy" attitude that doesn't always work out. |

Satella is the most hated Witch (and apparently she was also a half-elf). She used this name to push him out. Any other person from this world would freak out and would not want to have anything to do with her. |
