funimation licensed highschool dxd and testament of new sister devil and the have a whole fan service genre. I only seen the first dub epsiode but it seemed to be seem to these two titles

Episode 3 blew those shows out of the water and had a couple of shots that I can’t imagine have ever been shown outside of a hentai (dildo insertion and stomach bulge). As for your previous post though, they actually went full black screen for a few scenes in episode 3, not just part screen.

AnimeLab in Australia hasn’t made any statement yet about dropping it, so we’ll see in a couple of hours. If at least they are still airing it that will provide the subs to go with the atx release.
thanks for the infor. Funimation still shouldn't just try and sweep this under the rug but I do get why they would not stream it

I'll be honest, I had a good laugh seeing Funimation suddenly drop this show when I woke up.
I was even wondering at the time of Episode 3's release if Funimation knew how far this show was going to go with its 'fan-service'.

...Well, now I know they didn't have a clue.

Thinking about it now, considering the timing of purging the show from their database; I wonder if this is due to what happened in the 2nd half of Episode 3 or - more likely - what will be on the upcoming Episode 4.

The reason I think this is that they did release Episode 3 (censored) subbed and released Episode 1 dubbed afterwards, so Episode 3 could have made Funi begin to worry about the show's content. And so, seeing as Episode 4 is being released later today, they must've seen the script and raw footage for Episode 4 and went 'NOPE!'

Just my thoughts anyway...

Feels like, in episode 3 there were [censored] sections in the subs. The German subs don't have this, so you can see they don't like phrases such as "penis" and "I'm coming". The German version is a blessing anyway - censored video with uncensored subs. You can't have all I guess.

I haven't watched but man that's terrible for those wanting a dub. I hope other companies think twice before they decide to negotiate with Funimation to license their animes. I don't use Funimation to watch my animes anyway and i certainly won't use a woke streaming service after this.

I was looking at subscribing to Funi - but it's ironic that the country that produces the most porn output has got cold feet over a borderline Hentai cartoon.

I guess good old USA porn is OK and hole-some but other countries is not!

BTW : Anyone know how to get an AT-X subscription?

I'm using a paid for VPN service so can pretend to be anywhere - as I do for my Disney+ & Netflix subs (I'm based in the UK).

Hopefully no more streaming services drop it.

If they paid for the license - presumably they've paid for the rights to all episodes, in which case it's costing them money not to stream it (and I assume it'll stop anyone else from being able to do so).

Sony censorship hard at work here...

A female hyena had sex with one of the main characters, which is considered bestiality. Also, the show is slowly becoming an actual hentai and not an ecchi anime.

Hopefully this isn't the thin edge of the web - we'll see if they start disappearing from the database.

According to MAL they're all rated as R+

I think the Halfling + Dildo scenes may have been the issue or it could be the whole sex-swap concept. Maybe management at Funi are trans/homophobic.

Either way Funi wont be getting any subscription money from me.

They even removed a tame fanservice gag from Fire Force. HS DxD and VDM are older titles. They have a lot of people up top with small dick energy.

Why would they ever get it, they license this show but don't even make uncensored available. Who do they think this show is targeted towards.

Just check funimation twitter to see if they would make an official statement they hadn't but the two post they have made are full of angry people wanting the show back . I'd say least than half of the replies was about the post contain. It not just they cancelled the show the scrubbed it from the site in the middle of the night with no official statement it a scummy way to do business

That argument would work if they didn't have an entire category dedicated to fanservice/ecchi, which contains shows that are just as raunchy as this, if not more so.

Episode 3 of IR had 4 sex scenes. The ecchi genre rarely if ever has this sort of stuff. IR uncensored fits more with the hentai genre. Nothing on funimation`s website is even close to IR even Highschool DXD.

Sad news for those watching the show legally.
I don't know how the industry works, so maybe I'd say something stupid: didn't Funi know if the show will feature adult content before licensing it? Japan are maybe doing the show in the same time that it's broadcasting, but won't the storyboard for the season be already written before the show starts?

They put on Twitter when it was announced that it would push the borders of what was ecchi and it would go further than any previous non-hentai show.

This is 100% Funi's fault, subscribers should get what they have been promised on the schedules. This smacks of them grabbing licenses to prevent other companies getting them. This was always going to be a talked about series.

They obviously didn't read the synopsis and publicity materials. Then pulling the show because they got cold feet. They've also removed all the threads detailing the episodes from their user forums and a few others about IR.

There is a statement over on ANN.

They don't. If they did, why does Funimation still have series like Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid or Goblin Slayer? (I bring the latter up, because its first episode had more questionable content)

Like I said, the series was just overkill. And I'm sure Crunchyroll, Sentai Filmworks, or Aniplex of America would've pulled it, too. As a matter of fact, only Kitty Media would've licensed this kind of series without trouble.

But remember, the announcement only covered the cancellation of the simuldub. They said nothing about it being unlicensed or affecting/cancelling any Blu-ray releases (if ever).

because they where all done before sony had there censor claws in funi lol

I see absolutely no problem with this, AT-X raws still get posted on nya, fansubbers will take over, Funi gave this too much attention by dropping it, there is no way a fansubbers won't be taking over.

Mind you there is a great show this season you should watch if you don't already called Dorohedoro, it's completely fansubbed because no studio took it, i'm guessing because show involves a lot of gore and murder, and it's fantastic, fansubbing is getting revived little by little.

Gonna point out that with US law in particular, the borderline between obscene and non-obscene is basically depicting an act of penetration on-screen, and our laws get a little bit wild once you cross that line

this is why so many porn companies, much like stuff along the lines of legal marijuana, operate in a big gray zone with regards to stuff like bookkeeping, banking, and taxes. unfortunately, funimation is not set up for that kind of business, and having a show with an active dildo penetration and slime hentacles penetrating on-screen (there's no actual puss-lips spreading, but it's way clearer than anything you'd see in an R-rated movie or most other non-H anime) pushes this show into that liability

now, I'm gonna point out that this is pretty old-school politics as usual, and *not* "those SJWs back at it again" - most progressive/leftie types are actually pretty positive about sex workers and decriminalizing pornography

Surely they would have vetted and investigated the content of the series prior to licensing and purchasing the rights for it, no? This is absolutely one of the dumbest things Funi have done. Ever. They say this isn't inline with their content values and they don't want to censor, yet they literally changed characters' entire personalities in Dragon Maid. Absolute joke. Ishuzoku was one of the reasons I even signed up for Funi this season, along with Dendrogram, 22/7 and a couple others.Normally I just stick with CR, Netflix, Prime and Hulu. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement and hopefully they fix this. Anime is not just "cartoons" it's a medium with a lot of different demographics and this one just isn't kids friendly, no need to censor everything, most of your users are fully grown men/women.

Funimation is awful They clearly didn't do their research in the race to license as much content as possible.

Anyway, with the new wave of puritanism that's overflowing the USA, dropping this is probably a good idea for them. If a twitter keyboard warrior realizes they've got content like this, they'd be slaughtered online.

REKT Funimation for trying to do this in the very first place...

This series is already full of full-on borderline sex and hentai, so why'd they try to earn a license to view this series not knowing the source material is beyond me.

And welp, if fansubbing is STILL a thing in 2020, please save this show.

^^^^^

What happens is that Funimation considered that this was practically a hentai in the third episode because in the other episodes neither the elf, nor the other guy showed them in totally explicit scenes, it was only in the ep. 3 where they practically showed a penetration
This company is licensed to High school DXD which for them is acceptable because here nobody fuck.

I was honestly surprised they even aired it to begin with, especially with last week's episode. It was only a matter of time this happened.

Still, not a complete loss. They didn't even air the uncensored versions, and I can't think the majority of the target demographic bothered to even watch it there to begin with.
