Okay, so I waited 3 weeks for my challenge to be inspected... And these were the only issues:

[05] [Started: January 07, 2019] [Finished: January 07, 2019] (N.05) Watch a listed noitaminA or YATP series: Ojiisan no Lamp
*** this is optional, but to keep consistency please remove the 0 from the dates (from January 07 to January 7)

[35] [Started: January 15, 2019] [Finished: January 15, 2019 (Ap.28) Watch an anime with more than 16 minutes in total and tagged as Martial Arts, Military, Police and/or Samurai: Ninkuu (Movie)
[56] [Started: June 20, 2019] [Finished: June 20, 2019 (Ad.01) Watch a Movie with a duration of 120 minutes or more: Kaze Tachinu
--- add a missing square bracket on the finished date " ] "

[47] (I.13) Watch a completed anime scored 4 or less from an anime challenge team member: Goblin Slayer: Bouken Kiroku Youshi
--- update title to match DB: Goblin Slayer: Bouken Kiroku Youshi - Adventure Sheet

This is even worse than last year... I understand you mods are doing a lot of work, but hey, maybe if you allowed for minor typos like a missing half bracket or an extra 0, it'd be a lot less work for you, and people would enjoy the challenge a lot more. Surely I'm not the only one getting fed up with ridiculous nitpicking on tiny typos that have no effect on the actual contents. Similarly, the title of the anime I watched was updated in the database after I had already completed the entry a half year ago. Are we really meant to go through every single entry and check whether their names have been altered in the database? I thought this challenge was meant to be for fun...

Sorry if it's not quite feedback time yet, I can repost this in December... Just wanted other participants to get a heads up on the ridiculous nitpicking they can expect. I would really have hoped the mods would have improved from last year where many of us pointed out how much the nitpicking ruined the enjoyment of the challenge...

To allow everyone to enjoy the challenge, we also added the option to not get your challenge inspected, for those that simply want to complete it without worrying about anything else. Thanks for your feedback tho, even tho we already asked to double check things before turning-in, I guess we have to write that in more places.
The extra 0, as it says there, is an optional thing pointed out. I don't see you being asked to actually do it.
The rest, as Yuki already replied.

I think you misunderstand which part that's frustrating. It's not about wanting challenges to be inspected or not (because as far as I can see, nearly everyone does want theirs inspeected), it's about getting picked on for tiny little things that shouldn't matter.
No matter how many times you check your own challenge or have friends look it over, some insignificant typos are likely to be missed by humans, tiny things like a ] shouldn't disqualify you from completing a challenge. I understand that it might trigger the automated script reading the forms, but surely it can't be hard for human mods to step in and say "Oh, that's not an error, just a typo".
Same with things that are beyond our control, such as the name randomly changing way after the entry aired and was watched. Especially with this tiered system it's a huge flaw, because you finish sections early in the year, and then after you've double checked it there's no reason to go back and check most of the entries that wouldn't normally change.

In other words, it feels like the inspection is malicious, intending to buff the number of failed inspections for no real reason. Or perhaps somebody made a bet trying to keep the number of angelic under a certain number... Normally I have all kinds of respect for the hard work of mods across sites and games, but nowhere aside from these events have I encounted such needlessly picky mods trying to prevent people from completing a fun challenge.

Things like typos don't disqualify you from completing the challenge, nor do things like title changes. They are, however, asked to be changed so that they can be read by an automated system as pointed out earlier. Of course, as we're all human typos like that will exist, no matter how much you read it over.
It is also not with malicious intend. Nor to keep the Angelic participants from getting the title. The only reason we check and ask for things like typos is so that our inspections can be done faster and with greater accuracy.

I do understand that such things have always been frustrating. I also know that they are typos, we don't tell participants that things like that are errors, simply things to be updated/fixed.
I do disagree, because things like a missed bracket isn't pointed out by our app, the app merely gives an error. They are things that our inspection team notices and points out to help with the automated inspection process.

Nothing that you are asked to fix disqualifies you from completing the challenge. That's a misconception. You are given options, as I said previously.
You can either get inspected or not. You can either fix the things pointed out or not.
That's why we have different lists for those that finished the challenge.
It's all about what the participant wants. We don't, can't and will never force anyone to do anything about those things.

As you have well said, those name changes are also out of our control. We don't work for MAL, we aren't part of their mod team. We are merely users that volunteer to do this. We don't have any idea of when a title changes. If we aren't aware of those things, how can we confirm that such a thing changed because an user said so? What thing can validate such a change? If users are certain of those changes, that those changes happened after they were done with that entry, they are more than welcome to point them out. We can try to corroborate that information. If they provide some sort of evidence (in forums or something), we might be able to work around it. But if all we are told is "nop, I'm not gonna fix that, it wasn't like that"... we have nothing to work around it.

Regarding the statement about the inspection being malicious, all I can say is that I disagree. It's not like we enjoy seeing that number get bigger. We can't help when sometimes users don't read, miss something they had to do, don't provide evidence to validate their changes, or said changes are things we can't confirm. As for the Angelic title, neither is that the case, but we can't just grant it to users that had stuff to fix. Think about it this way. An user finished expert. 70 items. All anime they used was correct and valid for the items. The only little thing was that the user provided all titles written differently to how they are stated on MAL. All 70 anime titles just needed an update. Same said user, also, missed some brackets on their dates cause they didn't notice at all. It couldn't be helped with all the bbcoding they had to do. But said same user went over all the Angelics users listed and saw that most of them were added with some wrong titles and typos similar to them. They argue that they should be granted same title since the typos were similar and not mistakes after all. What do we do? They are right. We have to give it to them. But what about those that made an effort and had nothing to fix at all? Would there be any meaning to that extra title like that?

All I can say is that our process and the things we do are to keep things in check. Because they have a purpose. I do agree that sometimes we might ask for things that aren't really needed, because we are humans and make mistakes. We don't do all these things just to make it harder for people. Hm does the 0 thing only count for when you have, say

6 January 2019 and 08 January 2019

Or is it automatically an error if you use 0s at all?

It's not considered an error, just a suggestion to fix. Either one is acceptable, but it's preferred to stick with just one version throughout the challenge form for consistency.

It is only considered if most of the form use the first format, but just once use the second. It's asked to be updated for consistency.

Thanks for the long reply, I think the problem is it feels like the meaning is lost when it's all about typos and minor details... Personally I think it would work a lot better if it was only invalid entries that should cost the chance of angelic title (or challenge completion). As in, when people choose entries that aren't valid for the item.
Or alternatively, if it's possible, we should have a chance to check our entries through the system the mods use, if typos should really affect the challenge outcome - though honestly I really think they shouldn't. Sure, if people mess the format up or clearly don't put in any effort (I don't know if attempts like that even exist), that's a different story, but when people sincerely try and don't have a single invalid entry, just a few minor typos (and perhaps an entry adding 2 words to the title suddenly), it's not fair it ends up deciding everything.

No worries and yes. Your frustration with all this is understandable. We will make sure to think of a solution/alternative to this (and related manners) so that next year it's a more enjoyable process.

Nice! That's a relief
Thank you for the clarification
I use the second format throughout, it's easier on my eyes than just using 1 nr, idk why.

For a bit I was worried I would have to edit out 40 of those things... if not more.

Could I get a recommendation for I.21 (Watch an anime with 4 episodes or more recommended to you by a challenge team member)? I'm currently in a 90's groove, so something from that decade would be appreciated, but I'm happy to watch pretty much anything.

I have a few questions.

1: What is "anime in forum set" supposed to mean?

2: Do we get notified after the mods are done checking the turn in forms?

3: Are we only allowed to send the turn in form after completing each section or do we only get to send the turn in form after completing all the sections?

1. Anime in forum set refers to anime represented in your profile pic or signature. This is for a particular challenge item requiring it. In your case it would be Tokyo Ghoul.

2. Once we’ve checked your form, you should receive a PM.

3. Please only send in one turn in form for when you’ve completed the challenge to the highest difficulty that you want to attempt. You shouldn’t make a turn in for every difficulty, only turn in once.

Heyho, question regarding Apprentice item
"Watch an anime that another participant has completed for this challenge"

Should I just look through peoples sign-up forms or can I just pretty much ask for specific stuff here?
Like if anyone has used Yami Shibai 7 or Saiki Kusou Kanketsu-hen for any item that would help me out xD

Asking here is a good way to let people know what you need and hopefully you get some responses.

The only other option is to go through other sign up forms when you have a free moment.

Just a question about requirement "(Ap.26) Watch an anime tagged with your least watched genre by time according to Anime+"
I'm doing shounen restriction and obviously I'm not gonna find any tagged also with yaoi, yuri or josei, so I can jump straight to Cars, correct?

for this item: "(i.25) watch an anime featured in another participant's forum set"

does it have to be EXACTLY the anime in the participant's forum set or can it be one of the anime that the specific character is part of?
For example, instead of watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (because someone's avatar is Edward Elric), could I watch any of the other anime that Edward is a main character?

Pretty sure I know, but 3/4 through Kuroko no Basket s1 and I'm pretty sure it doesn't count for "watch an anime with 3 or more main characters with non natural hair colours", right? Thought it does but besides Kuroko and Kagami, the other non natural hair colours are support characters? Or does it count with 4 of the characters having unnatural hair?

Watch a Spin-Off of something you've previously watched — state the related anime if there's more than one listed

just to be safe: it does not have to be something i previously watched FOR THE AWC right?

Correct. The previous show this item is referring to can be something you watched before or during the challenge. As long as it was marked as 'Complete' some time before you start the related show you use for this challenge item.

Hope this helps~

I have a doubt about the novice items 21-23 ,do i have to state the genre of the anime i choose for those items? In case i have to do it, if i watched Yakusoku no neverland for item 23 and it is tagged with the three genres mentioned in that item, do i have to state the three genres or only one of them?

You don't have to state the genre for those items. Just the anime itself.

Dumb question, so let's say for example I signed up for the challenge today. Can I use an anime I watched 2 months ago for the challenge? Just clarifying.

Yes, as long as you watched it this year :)

"If I signed up / started the challenge in x month, can I use anime I previously watched during the year for this challenge?"
Yes. You can use any anime you started watching during the challenge period (January 1, 2019 - December 15, 2019) regardless of when you posted your sign-up form. Do remember to state the start date the same as the one for the earliest watched anime.

How important are start dates anyway? For example, can I just use an approximation if I know 100% it was in 2019?

Very much so

It's to prevent "cheating"
You can be asked to watch other anime if you aren't able to prove you watched them this year, and if you aren't able to it may be deemed invalid.

Dates are important for our inspection and you can always check your watching history to see your start date ;)

They're blank because you need to manually add them using the same edit method. MAL doesn't do that automatically :/

Can some recommendations for some of these challenges?

(I.01) Watch an anime with 35 or more episodes that are each 16 minutes or more (35-52 episode range would be nice.)

(I.14) Watch an anime with more than 8 main characters (anything)

(I.28) Watch an anime with a title that ends with the first letter of your username (I'm having a hard time finding something that ends "c". Don't know if there even is)

Thanks in advance XD

There are some items without a minimum run-time specified, does that mean that any duration is allowed?

for example, can I watch something with just 2 minutes of duration and it would count? Or is there a minimum for every item?

There is no minimum duration unless stated by the item, or unless you're using the Persistent restriction. So yeah, you could use a 2-minute item.

Would this anime be okay for "an anime with an honorific in the title" (A.17)? It has "tan" in it but I'm not sure if it counts.

It won't be valid:
(Ad. 17) Watch an anime with an honorific in the title — honorifics are: chan, kun, san, sama, tan, bou, senpai, kouhai, sensei, hakase; it must be used as honorific and not as part of a word. For example: Sankarea would be invalid, Gugure! Kokkuri-san would be valid
