Umm you'd think for someone to have frequented the library almost every day, she would know how to close the door behind her even though it wasn't the entrance she was used to, right? Silly girl.

I mean of course he was gonna die! What else could possibly happen?

What an episode this was
This OVA kept the same quality as the previous one
I was so happy to see that Chise feels at home when she is in the library
But what's wrong with Riichi ? He's such a mysterious character I have so many questions about him
Why his eyes went red when he was reading a book ? Why he was having a heart attack at some times ? what is the story of the book he cherish ? why he wanted Chise to go and to never come back ? and who he was talking to when he said that Chise will go ? Does a spirit control the library or something ? So many questions without answers I hope that in the latest episode we will found out
The scene when the library turns to stars was STUNNING
There was a beautiful chemistry between Chise and Riichi I was so sad that he died
This episode had such a tragic ending
I was scared most of the times
This OVA is making me happy, sad and scared at the same time. I'm loving how this anime is making me feel multiple emotions at the same time
Let's see how this flashback will end :)

Beautiful yet very sad stuff. I look forward to seeing what the story with Mayumi is.

The scene with the stars in the library was gorgeous. The animation and music are fantastic, the music especially makes me feel a sense of wonder just by listening to it

Dumb kid. All those books are destroyed and the guy even died, all because she couldn't do the ONE job she had. But not sure why he suddenly forbid her from coming to the library.

So Miura was a good guy after all. I thought he was going to do something weird to Chise because of how suspicious he was acting the entire time, especially that outbreak at the beginning of the episode.

Pretty sure it wasn't Chise's fault leaving the door open, but the house itself, or whatever that's inside it that made her do it, as seen from her eyes and the noises the house makes.

This guy.... What a retard, seriously.

First, she got thousands of traumata during her child hood, because she was the only one who could see the evil "monsters" (id use a different word in my language google didnt find an English translation to), so she couldnt explain her behaviour at all, when she was frightened to death all the time, but nobody else was, but what did he do? Nothing, he didnt explain anything to her, didnt give her any empathy towards her situation and didnt really try to help. He just gave her a safe place to flee from her miserable circumstances, but only temporary and whats even worse, he didnt try to solve them. And then he tosses her out without any explanation and wonders, why she forgets to lock the door, when she is in fear, that her only positive aspect in her life got taken away from her?
I guess he had some issue because of that black haired Girl(friend?) of his past, but its still weird how he handeld the interactions with the MC.

Edit: ok, OVA 3 explains it.

What I want to know is why the librarian in the forest has a split personality?

One moment he wants to invite the girl to stay at the library and the next moment, he suddenly loses it and wants her to leave. Like forever.

What's going on? If it's a spoiler-ish answer, you can just PM me.

P.S.: I really really want more background information on Miura and that library. So feel free to PM me any spoilers regarding the two subjects (Miura and library).

There are still many mysteries surrounding that library and Miura...

Chise's just a kid, and they are prone to make mistakes. She must feel so much guilt. Poor girl :(

The soundtrack in this anime is really magical I must say. It's so nice to listen to.

It really hurt me to see those monsters eating the books. So much knowledge lost...

Did not expect this to get so dramatic in the end, I thought it's just a chill SoL show. Guess in the next episode we will know why he couldn't leave the library and who his girlfriend is.

Beautiful episode even the part where miura was bitten and died. Twas a great moment. Chise as a child is like a bad luck charm. He should have just made her go away from the start.

Phenomenal episode with a pretty tragic ending. Poor Chise's a walking bad luck charm, attracting despair and suffering all around her while she is just trying to live her life. She found the library to be a safehaven, where she could try to enjoy herself and fall in love with the world of books without having to deal with the abuse of her step-family as well as the monsters on the outside and just distract herself with the power of words, and comfort. Instead, all that lead to was the librarian losing his life as well as the actual library being cleared out too completely when she decided to sneak into the library against Riichi's request.

The cinematography and direction continues to be really sublime, although it had one big issue for me during some scenes. During down time when not much dialogue is happening and the anime shows montages (like with Chise and Riichi spending time together), or when Chise was looking at the beautiful, night sky with all those stars, some scenes lingered far too long without actual animation. It's OVAs so it's not the end of the world but some more creative camera shots and ways of filling the gaps could have been done. Even so, the music continues to be so beautiful as well as the animation used in other departments and everyone harmonizes with each other outstandingly from an audiovisual presentation perspective.

Holy the episode, as if things weren't already messed up for Chise that they had to be a tad more towards the end. Not sure about librarian's past but one thing i was feeling the whole time that he won't make it out till the end of this episode, and indeed he didn't. Music in those last few minutes made that scene a lot more impactful.

I think it makes sense why she seems to have trouble opening up to people., The one person who opened up to Chise is someone who she killed by her own careless actions. He literally said to her "close the door" leaving no doubt that her forgetting to close the door behind her directly led to the death of the only person who cared about her. When the rest of the world tells her that disaster and calamity are her fault, then this happens, its hard to see how anyone, let alone a kid, could keep going. Truly a sad situation for Chise.

It is a bittersweet anime and the animation is pretty good. Story line is good that hooks you in. Library of the forest is a great place to be for a young Chise.
