Very good opening feel. The main characters are really feeling the end of their high school days, spent among familiar faces in a familiar place doing familiar things, coming to an end. Some arrange closure for things that they will have to leave behind, some make preparations to face their future, some decide to take action so they don't regret. They're so used to ending their time spent in a school that they know what they need to do, but there is a bigger difference now. They no longer have a clear direction they can head. Some go on to further study, some go straight to work; so this may be the last time they will be spending with each other.

I will love to see the rest of this series.

Reading these comments reminds me I really need to get around to watching Tsuki ga Kirei.

First episode was a chore to get through but it sorta picked up near the end. I'll give it a few more episodes since I'm getting vague Kids on the Slope vibes from it.

I really enjoy watching ordinary high school life with little bit of drama, so-called " nichijou anime" because I moved to America freshman year from Japan and it kinda fills the missing high school life that I missed in Japan.

Okay, back to the anime. This first episode explained so little description about the setting and relationships on each characters so it got me interested just by predicting. The music goes with the anime pretty good. I'm looking hyped for the second episode. !!

My favorite character is Mio so far.

A very enjoyable first episode. Mostly interested in how every side character has some chemistry with each other and the fact that MC has an old friend in his new school is very different to other highschool transferred student types of anime. By reading the sypnopsis, I can predict that it's going to start off easy with a classic slice of life and then go on with more drama (maybe when the students are graduating). In addition, there might be love triangles as well. Only thing was, without knowing the context of something going on (especially boring conversations) was very dull which made me want to click out during the middle of the anime. The ending changed my outlook on that though.

* just something I wanted to add in. I feel like this anime is more Summer themed like how Stein's Gate was. The summer theme helps makes the Slice of Life story better and give you nostalgia about those good summers day at school.

Overall, interested and will watch next episode when it comes out. 8/10

The overall atmosphere of the episode was super muted, which kinda made it hard to sit through the entire thing. So far the most interesting character to me is Komiya of the photography club, but that's only because none of the other characters stand out too much. Haruto's friend group is probably the one that stood out the least, while there just isn't enough information on everyone else. Also the show hasn't exactly made it clear on just what it's about yet. also there wasn't an OP or an ED for this episode wtf

Basically I need to watch more episodes to judge the show, which kind of defeats the purpose of a first episode.

Quite the eye opener. You usually don't see anime with backgrounds like these. A bit quiet, but the music in the second half really kicked it up. A little slow, but it wasn't boring. Pretty chill actually...

So transfer student comes in and is recognized by several students. We got a former vice-president of the student council, a member of the photography club that will be disbanded, a trumpeter, and a baseball player. And all of this is occurring on the final semester of the year. Baseball player seems to like Trumpeter, and vice-president recognizes transfer student. Looks like things are going to be happening. And cellphone usage looks pretty prominent in this anime. I'll continue watching it just because...

Good solid first episode with mesmerizing animation, ounces of potential in the storyline and soothing music albeit issues with a little too slow pacing. Moreover, this show resembles Tsuki ga Kirei(As the Moon, so Beautiful) so much with the similarities in its storyline and the Line messages, in particular, and hence all the more high expectations. So far, it'd be safe to assume that this series will be more of a heart wrenching story than one of pure romance, like Tsuki ga Kirei.
I will keep watching this show and hope that it will at least come within a Tsuki ga Kirei's range. Here's hoping for the very best...

This was really melacholic. Even the music really matches the feel of the show from the first episode.

Personally, it was alright. We got intro of the main characters in a typical school setting with some light drama (at the moment). It seems this anime has the usual slice of life/school norms. Even twitter...

I'm expecting these main characters' to intersect in this story with relationship angles. Mostly interested in seeing how they plan to adapt Mio's character. There's some baseball from this episode so maybe we'll get to see how the show will focus on the sport.

OP, it looks more like Line App compared to tweeter actually, Line is also Japanese made.

I have never seen anime slower than this. The pacing is absolutely slow, but it actually is not boring, like many said, the buildup is good, and the backgrounds also impressive.

Dunno about soundtracks, except for the horns and other instruments, it didn't really noticeable.

Mio.... Wait... Is that Ai-chan? Someone flattened her chest XD.
Life isn't as fun and easy as anime.

I have to admit that I'm surprised that you all loved this episode.

Personally, I found it boring, cliché, and mostly ugly ! Oh gosh the faces are horrible, the line is distorted, the colors are dull, and the animation is poor.
I love slice of life, really, but for this episode I was so bored, the characters are insipid, not appealing, and all the actions were predictable.

I drop it. 3/10.

As for the first episode, it was pretty boring, however, the atmosphere and way of introducing the characters reminded me of Clannad and the old domestic romances of P.A.Works. So I'm afraid to draw conclusions after one episode, so I'll wait for new ones.

Just sayin

Compared to the obvious comparison six months ago, well, looks more expansive(or cluttered, take your pick), a bit more colourful, maybe a bit less of the masterpiece-aura.

Great premier I think. Looks fun. Best of the five I've seen so far

So, if I understand correctly, MC moved away from that highschool some time ago and now he came back and met his old friends after years of not seeing or talking to them.

I have to say, the music was fantastic for some moments of this episode, and you can tell that, even if the animation seems weak some times, they put some care into the character actions and interactions to make them feel more real (like when this two girls are talking and one pretends to play the trumpet or how Natsume plays with her eraser).

I'm looking forward for the rest of the episodes, but 3-Gatsu S2 is going to be some tough competition. This is feels season folks!

Overall I think it was a fine first episode, the second half was quite enjoyable but the start had me quite bored, the characters designs are great tho.

what is it with people comparing this show to Tsuki ga Kirei?
It just has the same type of dialogues, same type of... artistic story-telling method, and same genre. Other than that, it's totally different.

I would expect Just Because! to not just cover Eita x Mio, but also the other students.
And not in the way Tsuki ga Kirei did. (Bcs that's OTP romance. This one... MTPs Romance? lol)

I think it looks promising. It's hard to rate a whole season after one episode. Especially when there's a lot of setup and multiple characters.

I know a lot of people are trying to contrast this with Tsuki ga Kirei. But I remember Tsuki ga Kirei's first episode was slow too. Not to mention it also had some animation issues. You can go back and read the threads if you don't remember.

Overall, I think it has promise and hopefully will be worth the watch.

I think this has alot of potential but I could see it just being boring to some. I am a sucker for coming of age and I think the anime placing itself at the very end of high schooler's education as they are about to head off into their futures and potentially try to tie up loose ends with those around them is just something not really done enough. Its also something I can sincerely relate to as there have been many relationships I feel has slipped out of my hands after losing that physical contact so that bit about the MC and his friend not talking after 1 month of being away hit pretty close to home. Above that I found the first episode very relaxing and a pretty good set up for whats hopefully a pretty relaxed drama about growing up.

I really hope things turn out ok cause its got a kind of nice melancholic tone to itself so far with the idea of relationships being a bit fragile once you stop seeing them on a regular basis and the general uncertainty of the future. Really gonna keep my eye on this one. I think it also shows that this is an anime original because the directing felt very well done not like it was following a source. Its not as immediately noticible as other shows but I do want to point out there was an extremely nice use of framing and setting the environment. Just having scenes of the main character walking through the environment letting the atmosphere take itself in is just a directing choice I really got to give props for and is one of the reasons im looking foreword to more of this show. I also like how they handled texts cause that is a pretty integral part of high school kids that doesnt really feel well utilized in most things but I think it felt pretty natural here.

kinda surprised thought more people would've hated the pacing ,i thought it was reasonably slow with show casing most of the characters and some of their personalities following a lot on the lines of show don't tell

i'll keep watching to see how this goes plus main girl reminds me of Ai-chan

This type of pacing I think will be divisive but it also remains to be seen if the pacing will stay well handled. This is going to play the risk between laid back and just being dry, so far I think episode 1 lands way on the side of laid back and relaxed. For a lack of a better term (and I hate how misued this is to describe anime especially) the way its handled felt more realistic.

yeah i hope it does end up more on the eventful side while still being relaxing they managed to make it feel very grounded ,and the use of LINE that has been a popular trend among modern anime's further adds to the realism for me.

Oh my oh my, could we possibly get two good school romance tv anime in a single year?!
I don't mind the slow pacing, it's common with these type of shows. Look at Tsuki ga. What matters are the feels and the execution. I hope the baseball part of the story will just be glossed over, I wouldn't like it to become the prominent aspect of it. Considering it has no "sport" tag we should be safe.

Felt nice. I usually don't like school + SoL and/or romance. But this feels like the main focus is on the characters and their personal problems/feelings as school nears the end. Makes it different from the usual silly nonsense SoL.

And I just hope the romance won't take up too much focus or starts to feel forced. Would be a lot better if romance was only hinted and/or didn't work out and main focus on friendship.

(At least episode 1 felt as if it would take more of a friendship direction.)
