Ah it was a build-up episode for the finale.

At this point, everyone is aware that Tatara can't beat Gaju so they change plans and gonna target Shizuku on Kiyoharu's advice.
But wow, it must've sucked hard for Shizuku to hear those lines coming from her partner.

Tatara and Mako are alike. They look cute together :D

I'm in love with the soundtrack at the ending that sets up the mood. It has such a nice ring to it~

I really love the soundtrack in this episode. They are all so good and fit the scenes perfectly. Bless Hayashi Yuuki's music.

Nice to see Kiyoharu giving advice to Tatara since Sengoku-san... lol Kiyoharu was definitely on point about who Tatara needed to defeat.

The ending scene was my most fave, especially with the framed yellow flower painting in the background and the awesome soundtrack <3 Cannot wait to see how Tatara will make Mako-chan bloom TwT

That was intense episode, got worried with Fujita that might slipped, beacuse he's out of stamina. Hyodo saves the day, though kinda provoked Shizuku.

seems like a beautiful episode next week, looking forward to it

Nggghhhhhh... The week after such an episode always feels so long! It's so unbearable, aaaaaarghh!

Anyway, excellent episode for sustaining the tension for the final whilst providing some character developement for Mako! If the character developement will be about as good as the character developement of Megumi in "Shokugeki no Soma" that would be truly awesome.

I was also initialy quite surprised about the sudden Lack-of-Stamina problem, but it does make actually sense. Plot-wise, it also reminds me of the struggle of Tatara and that he is not a "professional" dancer in an instant even with his special talent. Makes him more human and relatable.

I'm looking forward to the next episode, because as it seems, it will be the final of the tournament. Yay!

Btw, Marisa is nice looking! But I wonder if those tits are unpleasent to dance with since they would probably wiggle all the time. Atleast they attract the attention of people, if you know what I mean ;)

Well, this series is 24 episodes, so they have plenty of time to get to the more interesting parts.

A lot of things, like talent, passion, dedication, etc. This is why characters like Shizuku and Hyodo end up being such a big influence on Fujita.

Them not animating the full dance and going for just the poses and brief movements is starting to grind my gears -- though it has been grinding my gears ever since I started watching this. I didn't watch this show for the poses and stop, and them describing their movements. We deserve to see them actual dancing to tango, slow foxtrot, etc.

Despite that, still a good episode. I sincerely want to give Tatara a hug for having a breakdown. So happy for him and Mako-chan to make it to the finals.

And hisashiburi, Hyodo. Waaah. You look as handsome as ever. <3

Hyodo's mom is pretty funny, though. Haha.

Another very good episode!
Fujita is having trouble when it comes to stamina! but he's trying his best even if his body can't hold out! good thing Sengoku stopped them.
Damn Hyodo showed himself to all of them! end even gave advice that is clearly against Shizuku!
lol Gaju had another nosebleed from the sexy mother of Hyodo!
LOL at Sengoku can't joke and tease about Fujita & Mako because the two are apologising and didn't even noticed Sengoku teasing them!
Coach Tenpei also complimented Fujita & Mako nice! and they passed and will go final round! very nice!
Why is everything revolving about Kyoharu...?
The end of this episode before the ED rolls was very beautifully executed: Mako orders Fujita that she wants to bloom so that it won't be only Fujita who is bringing the dance but both of them..I'm excited for the next episode and the results of this competition!
5/5!

Poor Fujita has been working extra hard on the dances throughout the Tenpei Cup so far that has left him properly exhausted. He's trying his best despite his limitations and I admire him for that.

Shizuku's stance from last week makes more sense now. She explained to Fujita about her doing her very best in this cup, so that she won't be left behind Hyodo when his skills start to truly shine.

Despite that, Hyodo wants Fujita to defeat Shizuku in this competition, so seeing both Fujita and Mako having their conversation at the end of the episode was very powerful. I hope Mako fully blossoms when the two of them dance again next week. =)

The dances themselves aren't fully animated yet, but honestly, I see no need to get wound up by it. Whether it's a budget or time limitation for the studio, who knows, but they show enough consistent foot movement, brief dancing movements and powerful poses mid-dance that still keep the intensity of the dances mostly intact. In short, I'm fine with it.

Well, to be fair, Kiyoharu wasn't the one who ditched his partner, happily pairing up with someone else. It doesn't excuse his episodes of being an immature brat towards her, like saying that he didn't care if Fujita stole her, so Shizuku has the right to be peevish about the trust issues and him not treating her like a equal partner. Kiyoharu is being contradictory, to boot, saying he didn't care about Shizuku being stolen, yet dancing a possessive aggressive tango like he did the moment he saw her with Fujita.

Still, Shizuku went too far, and I have to agree with Sengoku, what she's doing looks more like a hissy fit than anything. Besides, the way she declared a couple of episodes back to Fujita that there's no way Mako can dance better than her is conceited and pure hubris. I hope a reality check for her is incoming.

Oh, and while we're at it, Gaju is the biggest bastard so far, saying such things to his sister and laughing at Fujita collapsing.

That's the only thing preventing me from giving this show a 9. I understand that it's acceptable to save up budget on animation by using flashy stills and poses, but we have yet to see even one dance animated in anything close to its entirety, and in a show about dancing it's quite ridiculous (like Kuroko no Basuke or Haikyuu only showing stills of the ball and players making shots instead of showing full plays)

Lol I don't know whose side are you taking.

I don't hate Kiyoharu. He's quite aloof in nature. And he doesn't bother with everything happening around him.
Shizuku's fit is justified tho. He injured himself during the competition but he just doesn't even care enough to tell his partner about the concerned matter. Nor did he say anything when she paired up with Gaju. Quite the opposite, he encourages and advises his rival to defeat his partner, Shizuku. Her rage seems only natural to me.

Also, you're mistaken about Kiyoharu's rage when Tatara danced with Shizuku. It wasn't that Tatara stole his partner but more like how he stole Kiyoharu's dance variation and put on such a face full of glee while dancing with her. That's what pissed him off most and it fuels him with a passion of a dancer later on.
She's dancing since she was small while being above average than most of the dancers out there generally. So there was nothing wrong with her attitude when she said she's being underestimated by Tatara.

I'm not really taking sides because I think they both are at fault, Kiyoharu being a brat and treating Shizuku more like a possession than a human being of equal standing, and Shizuku taking her hissy fit too far by actually ditching her partner behind his back and running to another guy without even trying, like seriously trying, to, I don't know, talk to her partner, maybe? That's immature, on both their parts.

I know Tatara's attitude during his Waltz is what set off Kiyoharu so much, I'm watching this show, y'know, but that only emphisizes my point that he went off because his partner, HIS POSSESSION to be exact (i.e. Shizuku) was stolen and danced with like that. Sengoku puts it in no uncertain terms about how Kiyoharu couldn't let it slide as a man.

Moving on, Shizuku didn't just say to Fujita not to underestimate her, she did it through denying the possibility of Mako becoming better than her, and that's wrong, even if she has some grounds, that comes off as her being conceited and looking down on the competition. Take even Sengoku, the guy's as cocksure as they come and yes, he knows he's awesome, yet I have yet to see him say something like 'I'm the best, no one can ever beat me'. At this point, Shizuku comes off more conceited than him, and that can't be good for her future, that's why I hope for some reality check for her.

Then I guess our views differ.
To me, it seemed like it was more shocking for Kiyoharu that Tatara was able to imitate his moves than snatching his partner away, since he really couldn't care less about her, considering his nature. He felt like he was being challenged by a beginner when he saw them dance. That's why he couldn't let it slide as a man.

You're taking her words in a wrong way. Mako's got a timid personality, so it only ticked her off when she was being underestimated by Tatara in skills. She didn't say Mako can't dance better. Her words had a feel of confidence behind them rather than a plain arrogance if you ask me.

And yeah I agree, the issue can resolved if they agree to talk the matter out. But it's anime we're talking about. We need content.

I thought I'm alone in this. It annoys me so much and I thought I'm gonna see a full performance from them like Yuri!!! On Ice. The animation may not be the best in YOI, but at least we get to see them fully skating; not stopping, not the poses, not them describing what the heck they're doing. This is a dance anime, so freaking show it!

Well, after last week's episode I ended up reading all the translated chapters for ballroom and I must say... This episode was quite a disappointment. It failed to capture even a hint of just how hard Tatara was struggling just to dance those last 2 rounds.
However, I can forgive that because it gives us plenty of time for the next episode.

Oh my god, that look Hyodo gave Sengoku when he was pushing him down to hide his face, so cute.

I am thinking probably the reason why Hyodo is watching Fujita carefully is because Fujita really loves dancing and Hyodo lacks that kind of motivation. He wants to know how a newbie with very little skills is able to put their best foot forward OR maybe because Sengoku is mentoring Fujita and Hyodo admires Sengoku and would like to be mentored as well but unfortunately Sengoku refuses to do so since Hyodo is already a genius.

Shady bitch telling Fujita (in his mind, cowardly motherfucker) not to sit, poor Fujita is tired.

Hyodo reminded Fujita not to dance alone on the dance floor, I noticed that he was just dragging Mako along with him and wasn't considerate of whether or not she was capable of doing what he wanted.

I forgot to mention, Marisa Hyodo is fucking hawt.

Shizuku is being a bitch towards Fujita and Mako-chan but she's doing it for Hyodo. Oops, Kiyoharu, of course she'll refer to her husband by his first name.

Make Mako-chan bloom, Fujita.

YAAAAYYYYYYYY! Our little girl's gon BLOOM :'D

I can't wait. I want her to go from a timid girl to being something AMAZING and outgoing-- someone who captures the audience's hearts on stage. That's what you should do as a dancer :)

So glad that Hyoudo is there to keep Fujita-kun in check. How harshly he's treating Shizuku is probably for her sake as well. If she can't handle the pressure, then she can't move forward to match Hyoudo's level, so. :3
