@aa-dono I don't have anything in mind and I'm pretty open to suggestions so if you have a favourite let me know. I'd prefer it if it wasn't ongoing though.!
Would you like to try Kekkaishi?

It's a adventure shounen manga. It had a dark edge to it. Not to the point of depressing. While I cannot say it's the best manga, it's certainly is one of my personal favourite. The characters felt realistic. In terms of both actions and emotions. Not the typical shounen route though it doesn't have the whole "I'm new and different kind of manga" setting. It's pretty basic, really. But it offers a lot more than just the basic of shounen. Worth a try.

Added to PTR! It might not make it to this year's challenge, since I'm not sure I can finish this one in time, but I will check it out sooner or later. Thank you!

Could I get some help with the "Read a manga recommended to you by another Manga Reading Challenge participant" category too? I got one earlier but its kind of long and I don't know if I'll have enough time to finish it and the bunch of shows I still need to watch for the anime challenge :')

Anything 1-5 volumes long would be great

@Lutetium
Try Tokyo Babylon, Kuro, Hwaja, Ludwig Revolution, Kaira, or Litchi☆Hikari Club maybe

@hamaon Not sure if you'd be interested but Claudine is short and a nice read. Houkago, Doumu, Confession, GOTH, Gohan Shiyo! All of these are kind of short (they're all very different though). If none of those work, maybe Cousin? Although it's a little longer.

Follow the instructions that @tsuyokunaru laid out for the full list, but Solanin and Ran to Haiiro no Sekai are on that list, along with Seizon Life(LifE) and Hot Road. They are all shortish and they are all very good.

thanks for the update.

warning: the following text just kinda "happened" and therefore has no structure. i just thought it had to be said/written.

i have to admit that i kinda lost the motivation for the anime and manga challenge. there are many anime and manga that i didn't watch/read because of (bad time management and) challenge items that i "had to" finish before the year is over.
at the same time i've probably read and watched more anime and manga within this year than in any year before. looking at other participants challenge lists and asking for recommendations in the forum made me realize how many good manga/anime i've never even heard of and how little i knew.

i've tried different methods to read manga (basically binged berserk but took my time for other entries) and i plan to continue doing this until i get my pace -> my personal challenge for 2017: read HxH - one chapter per day. at the same time i'll have additional "slots". i hope that doing this will help me catch up with more titles.
for some reason the opposite applies for anime. i've tried to watch too many seasonal shows but i'll probably end up never finishing some of them (it took me 11 months to finish erased/boku dake ga inai machi).

back to the challenge: getting to know so many different titles made me realize how little i knew and made me change my rating system.
i lost my motivation and thought about skipping the 2017 challenges but looking back made me realize how much i value the 2016 challenge.
i rly look forward to 2017. thanks.

We can't use manga that's not on MAL, right? Like the Granblue Fantasy manga which I guess is not here because it's being published on Cycomic's website and doesn't have a print volume yet. I thought I read somewhere that you could but now I can't find it anywhere.

Maybe $100 Is Too Cheap about a bounty hunter should count? Else Kansen Rettou (doctor), Frankenstein (scientist, surely?), or Kiruza King (hair stylists)

I'm in a pickle too, I thought I had a decent choice for child cast, but there was only one child protagonist. Does anyone know a one shot starring three kids?

if on-going is fine you could read "shounen shojo" (6 translated chapters, monthly, hiatus/currently no new chapters, written by nisioisin, 2/2 MCs are children) or "the promised neverland" (currently 21 chapters, weekly, mainly children, a rather unusual WSJ manga)

But I guess we can start reading manga, and then we will be able to add them in our challenge list, as far as we started reading the manga in 2017, right?
I already figured out some stuff to read, expecting some specific item we had last year, but I'm really looking forward to see how it will exactly look this year.

Good luck with all the preparation, tsuyokunaru. I hope we will have a nice community doing the challenge and sharing stuff.
