Well, this was a really well directed episode overall, especially the fight scene. But the most impact that this episode had was when there was only environmental sound, where Mob was punched and all the you heard was the sound of punches, footsteps, clothes noise and the sound of body impact on concrete, without any background music. Using this kind of technique, is really useful when you need to build up tension, or just want to keep overall tension, because we, as the audience will be more likely to be disturbed by this unpleasant noise.
One of the best examples and use of this kind of technique, is used by quite an old French heist movie, Rififi, as the only sound that you were hearing was the sound of the tools that were being used by the robbers; another great example is The Shining, along with the long steadishot and pure environmental noise done by the tricycle.

If there was anything, I would've liked if the whole fight scene was done without any background music, as the impact would've been even more powerful and near the end playing music.

Wait, is the adult Esper kidnapper a Natural or not? Because even though he couldn't win against Shigeo with his own powers he still gave him a little bit of work... On the other hand, blonde dude managed to win against one of their Espers, but I guess this one was "manufactured"? Since Shigeo overwhelmed blonde dude a lot easier than the Esper he fought against...

Anyway, I wonder what the kidnapper is going to tell his boss about Shigeo, since their target was Ritsu and now they see this super strong kid (and they were looking for the awekening ones first, the mistake was only on the name...).

Teru said Mob is the first natural he met in episode 5. The one who tried to kidnap him was an artificial esper or just normal human. The hooded guy is a natural esper.
Don't underestimate Teru though, he can easily defeat this hooded guy alone. The only reason Mob lost was because he tried to fight physically against an Esper who specializes in close combat. He'll learn his lesson next time.

So Ritsu explains his inferiority complex to his brother and tells him that now that he has psychic powers, he won't continue with this farce anymore. Previously he would try not to get into his brother's way as to not piss him off because if he got pissed off and they fought, it wouldn't end nicely. Now that Ritsu has psychic abilities, he has nothing to fear anymore. Shigeo however, refuses to believe this story and wants to believes that Ritsu is a good boy and all that he said is a lie.

Shigeo apologizes on his brother's behalf for causing those delinquents so much trouble. And during his groveling, the mysterious hooded individual standing atop the nearby building jumps down and smashes Ritsu's face into the ground before beating up some delinquents who came attacking with his psychic abilities. Previously Shigeo would try to suppress his powers to try and not hurt anyone, but here his blowing up meter shoots up and he attacks the man. Even though his brother was about to be kidnapped, he was still subconsciously suppressing his abilities which resulted in that man beating the crap out of him. And then it happened and Shigeo released all his animosity. That was so god damn badass. Shigeo almost kills that man in a scene with amwazing animation. That looked super duper cool how Shigeo smacked him into the wall, sent him up to the sky, and then smacked him back down like a rocket. If it wasn't for that guy's cowardly dirty trick, he was more dead than he could have imagined. That guy was even more dead if Shigeo had gone ???%. He was lucky to get out alive. No one messes Ritsu Kageyama and then gets away with it unharmed.

And now Shigeo and Teru will be looking to pick a fight with Claw in order to save Ritsu. Claw is a dangerous organization with psychics, some are naturals while others were given powers. Shigeo has them beat one on one or maybe even three or four on one. But they have numbers on their side and it is entirely possible that if too many gang up on Shigeo, they might win. That is something we'll have to wait and see because we don't know how ???% fares in a fight with espers. Teru was just one kid who even panicked and he was very weak too. But if he's up against that man with the sword who looks pretty god damn dangerous, who knows how long it'll take for Shigeo to win. And Shigeo would try to not reach the ???% stage. Unleashing his emotions can deal a lot of damage so who knows.

i have mixing feelings.. ep. was great, but anime in general turns into generic "puling villains straight out of the ass" route, the curse of all shounen manga.

In a world where psychics exist, it would be pretty weird if there was no evil organization trying to cause some damage. They're just like a terrorist group in real life, but with psychic powers.

Also, this is ONE we're talking about, and we already know how he likes making fun of shonen. Just keep watching.

Is it too soon to give the best fight scene of 2016 award to this episode?

Anyway, this episode blew my expectations away easily. The hooded esper's skills are insanely strong and had no hesitation in beating up Ritsu. Seeing Shigeo's explosion percent rise so fast surprised me, but seeing Shigeo himself getting punched, kicked, gutted and thrown about was really painful to watch...

...that was until he hit 100% though, which turned the battle upside down with the hooded guy getting a taste to his own medicine. =)

Bones deserve as much praise as possible for this episode. They really went full throttle for the intense fighting animation sequences and the quality never dipped for one second for the entire fight.

Sadly, despite giving him a beat down, the hooded guy was still able to successfully kidnap Ritsu, along the the other five kids from before, and at the end, they arrived at Claw's hidden base.

It's going to be interesting to see how Shigeo, Teru and Dimple will attempt to storm the base. Who knows if they'll be successful, not I think we'll see Shigeo ???% form again at some point. It's a matter of 'when' it'll happen next, not if.

Good to hear an English version of the ED theme from All Off. I can't say which one is better though until I listen to both full-length versions of the songs.

Fcking best episode so far. i just can't belive what i just saw.
obvious, mob got beaten up like shit, i saw that coming and expected that cause i saw the pv for this episode. but when he went mad A.K.A exploded everything just went badass AF. i mean, look at that face up there ^ from looking at it, he doesn't look that angry but when you look at it a bit longer, the atmosphere....Rage and anger compressing eachother. not combining but compressing each other. irritation.

i don't know what to say anymore, the fight scene was just too gold. well, somehow i kinda saw that coming that 100% full power, mob can still defeated or someone can still touch him or hit him. but imagine if it's not 100% but instead it's a question tag like when he fight that blode guy. ???% i doubt, even the leader of the organization could stand a chance. but seriously, the atmosphere, the feeling when mob went mad, i got goosebumps, thrill, tense, and chill, i'm loving it.

looks like there will be another fight too in the next episode. and the blode guy will be in the fight too. looking foward to it xD i think this anime just went from 50 into 100 xD

Do hospitals not exist in anime Japan? Cut by a sword and bleeding out? Thrown through a wall and possibly broken your bones? Smacked your head on solid concrete and may have a concussion? Just wrap some bandages on it and send them to bed.

Anyway, this was a great episode. The first that actually genuinely wowed me. The animation was a splendor, and yes, to compare it was animated far better than One Punch Man which only had two brilliantly animated episodes (1 and 2) before the budget dropped and it was animated well only in spades thereafter.

This continue sto prove why Bones are superior and why they have best animators and why Yutaka Nakamura is unrivaled.

Pack it up boys, Studio BONES already won the year with this show, there's no way to top this. That's what? Two years in a row where BONES makes best things ever.

*3 years, space dandy but yeah bones is the best studio holy fuck that episode. I admit I started watching this show on a mix of it's like opm hype from everyone else and it's bones hype from myself but it's far surpassed my expectations. Bones hype is obviously far more relevant but this show is miles ahead of opm in all aspect unless you really really like super heroes.

Oh My God! Totally Epicly Awesome Intensely Insane!
This is the most action packed episode we've seen as of yet!
I also cannot believe that someone can push Mob this far!
100% of Mob should be treated as a threat to any one vs one Pchysic with him!
Reigen never ending antic hits again!
Plot is expanding because of the introduction of Claw Organization. I hope the Psychic of that org will prove a challenge to Mob...if not this would be like OPM again with no match against the MC...
Hanazawa & Shigeo teamed-up with Ekubo-kun! nice nice!!
From the looks of the next episode! we'll gonna witness Class S headquarters with rectangle table...I mean Claw HQ! lolz!

There are couple of important events happened on this episode like Ritsu's confession about his true feeling, about his fear with his brother's power. The revealing of the main antagonist group and the other but the most prevalent thing that easy to catch, be commented and praised was the fighting scenes.

The fluidity of the animations goes perfectly with the art style. It was so intense it left no room to blink at all. I don't know but, for once in a while, it is nice to see supposedly very strong villain got beaten, knee down to the ground and see his pride and confident shatter to pieces. I even replayed the scenes several times just to see that mohican dude get rekt and read his desperation monologue again and again.

Overall 5/5 for this episode.

Pretty good episode, It ended where I expected it to end.
That scene where Shigeo kneels down was done pretty well. it captures the same feeling as manga if not better.

I don't have this feeling when reading manga but when see it with animation and sound, that real white T poison scene was a bit cringey.

The rest are pretty solid.

I hope so! With their previous collaboration with Warner Bros before (Akagami no Shirayuki Hime), I think it's not impossible to get split season or second cour! I think the manga also has enough room to be expanded into another season.

Another thing that excited me, Minami P said in an interview :
"We worked with Natsume (director, One Punch Man) on Space Dandy...so we wanted to show him up with Mob Psycho 100."

I think they are seriously thinking to bring Natsume (and of course Kugai) to Mob. Can't wait for that episode :D
