Some interesting revelations this episode. So the Sibyl system is controlled by a group of self proclaimed gods. I'm really glad Makishima turned them down, I don't like how he looks at the value of human life, but he's definitely still a very interesting character and I'd hate to see him reduced to a brain stuck in a box.

It was quite obvious that he would decline, given his personality and the fact that turning him into a brain in a vat isn't exactly conducive to plot development.

Old lady? What? You mean that old lady who was found dead in the elevator? I didn't notice that ^_^

This show is just awesome. Making the bad guy seem good by killing another villian xD I'm so glad he killed her/him/it (I hope he did). She/he/it gave me creeps o.o

But really, this had me on the edge of my seat all the time. And in addition, totally cheering for both, Makishima and Kougami now O.O That's one intelligent duo for you. Except, Makishima could just stop killing ppl without a reason but well, this also makes him the villian, right... I don't even now how I'd like it to end and who I want to win. It's completely mind-blowing.

So proceeding to the next ep... *.*

Why is everyone already assuming Kagari is dead?

Granted the camera phone footage (and chief's reaction) implies that he didn't escape, but there was nothing like guts spilling everywhere to indicate his body was destroyed. And no one said he was dead...at least I don't think anyone said he was.

Until someone says he's dead, I'm not believing it.

WOW!!!!!

definitely the BEST episode of this series so far!!! really really brilliant way to end an episode!!!

first off, finally they brought in the mechs!! damn i thought they didn't have one in these world. glad they brought it in!!

seems Ginzo and Kougami are starting to doubt if Sybil is really worth to trust in the first place. well Kougami never trusted it in the first place anyways.

so the director Kasei was actually Touma Kouzaburou who disappeared three years ago? if that's the case who was the one that invited him in the first place? the real director Kasei??

i don't think Kagari is dead! i have a feeling he will be the one to warn the bureau on what Sybil really is.

i freaking knew Sybil was already built 50 years ago. the way the system handles definitely needed a lot of resources as well as experience.

so it's basically a compilation of thousands of human brains and trying to create a perfect law that can monitor everyone's hue's simultaneously and with perfect judgement? this is absurd!!

and wow when the director started explaining what Sybil is, this reminded me of an episode in Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex. one of the Complex episodes with "The Laiughing Man" :P

fun fact, the voice actor of Director Kasei: Sakakibara, Yoshiko is the famous cyborg from Ghost in the Shell 2.0(it was originally voiced by a male), also she's the prime minister Kyabuki from Stand Alone Complex 2nd GiG :)

so i'm really glad she's also a cyborg here in Psycho Pass!!!

i knew Makishima wouldn't join the Sybil system just like that. he doesn't want to become a "pawn" in someone's game. but rather the player or rule who controls the game :)

Makishima is smart being able to capitalize on Touma being careless as ever. man he really destroyed those body parts huh? why was the fluid green though O__O

it's funny how he was the first one who attack Touma as soon as he said "swift" :P

does this mean Touma is dead now? i wonder if she made some back up on the sybil system? nah since he only has one brain :P

lol Kougami got scared the hell when he thought Makishima was seating next to him!

now i'm interested on how things will go from on here? Makishima escapes so does this mean they have to hunt him down again? what about the Director? surely Touma is pretty much dead no? and hopefully Kagari is okay!!!

i wonder how will the enforcer's react if they knew the truth about Sybil? are they still willing to abide the system despite being a falsified system?

can't wait for the next episodes!! only 5 left!!

Really great episode, ironic reveal of the Sybil system. Was thinking that they were executed out of public view, not added to Sybil. Loved Makashima's reaction and rejection. Killing of the chief was awesome as well. The only part i did not like is that it seemed a tiny bit unrealistic that a cyborg would feel pain enough to drop the gun and sit clutching its face from being hit with a book. Great nonetheless, excited for what's coming.

So how is Makishima going to survive the plan crash now? Hm... I'm sure it'll be some dramatic something or other maybe. Or maybe he'll just die but there's still quite a few episodes left so we will see.

I still don't think Kagari is dead.

So this is what the Sybille system is made of... FUCKIN' BRAIN!!

I hat Makishima, but he truly is a great character. The way he neutralised that old bitch/thing was awesome. I wonder how he crashed down a plane though.

So he's on the run again. What will be is next move now that he know the whole truth.

Oh, and Kagari is dead for sure. She wouldn't had let him go or used him. I wonder how the Akane and her squad are gonna find out the truth, if they find it of course.

Oh, this is just great! Nice explanation! so this is what Sybil System is all about. I was mind-fucked when I learned about it. So, you know, I cannot help but love it -great idea! I wonder where it comes from, does it have any serious background or is it only the author's fiction? I should check that out.

Anyway, I liked Makishima in this episode. I am sorry to believe that Kogami isn't going to really listen to what Makishima said. I hope he does, I hope Kogami will listen to what Makishima was saying (even though I seriously and honestly doubt that he will). Anyway, the thing is, Makishima was cool! I am really happy the chief got beaten up. I wonder what really happens to... her. There is something I did not quite understand. There were all those brains there, but did the cyber-chief had brain in her cyber body, or was it that all the brains are there in the Nona Tower basement? I should rematch some details >.<

I guess Kagari might be dead after all. I still have a tiny hope he isn't. it's clear that chief could control the dominator -and now it makes sense why she was able/is??? to do so.

Ah, i am looking forward to the next episode. So off I go, let's see what's next :)!

Kasei = Chief

DAT PLOT TWIST. SO MANY REVELATIONS - especially about the true identity of the Chief and the true form of Sibyl System. Makishima could be a poet. And oh, he killed the Chief - I would be more happy if Kougami, Akane and others will find out about Chief's secret while that btch is still alive.

I could not accept the fact that Kagari is dead. I hope I was wrong.

Dat creepy moment after the ending credit. I lol at the part wherein Kougami was drinking coffee and all of the sudden Makishima appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the night - but it was just Ko's imagination... until Makishima called him.

1) ok I guessed kasei was the Sybil system but that's as far as I got... wow that was a lot to take in O_o
2) I didn't really like makishima at first bc I thought he was a just a stupid stuck-up criminal, but I gained so much respect for him when he rejected kasei's offer and beat her up!
3) is kasei dead...? she's a robot so unless he got to touma's brain she's still alive, right?

So much exposition. It was tiring to read nonstop dialogue for 22 minutes.

I support Makishima's plots to undermine the Sybil System and their current society, but I also agree with Kougami that his methods and crimes needs to be atoned for and are not the right way to handle anything. Hard to choose sides.

The Sibyl brain-collective is still too stupid to identify a crime through a Dominator when it happens right in front of its scan range... so much for "judgement".

I had a feeling the Sibyl sistem is composed from one or two human brains but not from 247! (it exceeds GLaDOS :D ... well between the Psycho-Pass events and the Portal events is a difference of about 100 years)

Dang Makishima has layers and a sharp wit. I feel like he's really getting to be a developed character, and maybe even the most complex so far. I think he's my favorite of the series now, despite his brutality and lack of regard for human life.

Despite his unscrupulous methods, is the series trying to make the viewers root for Makishima's side which even though ruthless, dreams of free will and anarchist freedom?

The faults and oppressive discrimination within Sybil's system is pretty well established as this point. From the beginning, I looked at it as wrong and corrupt, but unlike at the start of the series, I no longer view Makishima as the bigger villain. He's more a heartless vigilante antivillan with a necessary vision and goal. I find myself going: "Yeah destroy Sybil, destroy Sybil. (Plus the series had Sybil kill Kagari, and try to get Makishima(a terrorist murderer) to join, further emphasizing it's corruption.) However, I do understand how dependent the people are on it, and anything too quick or radical would cause more than riots.

I really hope the characters in the police force stop enforcing the will of this awful government. It bothers me more and more. They may be the protagonists and heroes of the series, but they have just been puppets following orders, in a position with lack of influence.

[Okay, now I'm entering an art nerd mode.]

The animation is great in this. It does a good job of conveying those subtle expressions to reflect what the character is feeling and thinking, like it did with Makishima's face during the whole conversation with Touma.

It seriously changed with every thought he had, conveying so much! I wish every anime did this!

So Sibyl System is just a bunch of brains.
Makishima just destroyed that cyborg chief.
Too bad the Chief's just a body and there are way more brains left.

I don't know how Makishima will stop this all by himself.
He's going to need a bit of backup to make things a little easier.
I’m always searching for something, for someone. This feeling has possessed me I think, from that day… That day when the stars came falling.

That mindblowing plot twist was overwhelmed by how confusing and difficult to absorb the information being thrown at the viewer was. It was probably just me, but I had to re-watch several of the scenes to get it.

That said, SHOUGO 10/10 BEST ANTAGONIST SINCE EVER

I'm greatly anticipating the moment when Kou and co. are enlightened upon the corrupt Sibyl system. Hopefully they find out THOSE BASTARDS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR KILLING KAGARI. Gah.

Brains in jars, well ... that's a bit The Man with Two Brains with Steve Martin! LOL! Only no one fell in love with one! xD I haven't seen that movie in ages, still one of the funniest movies ever!

I guess it makes sense in a way.

I can't blame Makashima not wanting to be a brain in a jar! Only a weirdo would want that or someone already dying which he wasn't, glad he killed the chief and got off!

He's such an awesome character! Like a kind of anti-hero like Light from Death Note. He's so smart and good looking <3

Ok I know I've hated Makishima so far for manipulating people like he has, but suddenly I really like him now for rejecting the Sibyl system after these recent revelations. Never before did I get such satisfaction watching a psychopath beat up an old woman before, LOL

Once Sibyl was revealed for what it is, we see now how he really is an anti-hero, willing to do anything for the greater good of society.

When Touma was trying to persuade / explain to Makishima, my first thought was 'Uh oh, something shitty is going to happen.' Touma underestimated Makishima. Why is he even giving Makishima free will to process all that? *face palm* Just do what he has to do - harvest his brain!

Maybe all Touma needs to do is think more like a psychopath (wait...he is one...fail). Would Makishima have fun as a brain being transported around in a system? Even to us normal folks, hearing about this doesn't really sound appealing - I think let alone for a psychopath. ^^';;;

OMG THAT EPISODE SLAYED! This episode is the episode in which I had the most respect for Shougo and I was actually rooting for him as he decided not to join the Civil System and to kill her/him/it instead. Man, that was a really good episode. The Civil System really freaked me out. I much prefer Shougo as the potential "bad" guy rather than that creepy brain-robot thing...
Oh and Shougo is a great "villian". Ever since he "tested" Akane I've thought that even though I don't agree with his methods, I do actually understand where he's coming from. The way he thinks does make a lot of sense.
