Nice character designs.

I like the male lead. Seems like an interesting character: "Humans are programed to get stupider as they age." - Quote of the day/week, hands down.

Moe-san was beautifully dressed, I gotta say.

Dr.Magata is a bit creepy to me. She's sweet as a child tho.
Aw btw, I liked when Moe-san set her last question "Who are you?" and then Magata changed her lifeless facial expression. I smiled on that part, hehe.

The dialogue was interesting too. Especially liked that one about the number 7.
(I also like that number; it's my favorite & brings me luck, lol. But it's a lonely number as Magata says, because, I guess, that comes from the fact that 7 belongs to the odd numbers?)

OP&ED are nice. I think the OP is better cuz I find it interesting x funny. I really like it :D

Hm-hm~ Slow paced episode for a start. I wonder if it gonna stay forever like this or it gonna speed up. But that won't stop me to continue watching this anime bc I don't wanna regret if I drop it then later becomes better. Sure I can pick it up again but I just don't wanna do that, even though slow pacing usually irks me but I wanna bear it and move on with watching bc *reason mentioned in the previous sentence*.

Start interesting enough, people take part in the scene does not seem very original, except for the fact of having a teacher who is a bit ugly loved to distraction by a character similar to many you've seen before, and a co-star somewhat unconventional. Technically it's not bad, drawings are beautiful, but the CG is really ugly, the car of the girl, an Alfa Romeo 4C is not as beautiful as the Renault Kangoo shown in Sakurako-san from TROYCA.Quite intriguing as a whole, it has the potential.

Ugh that was something different. Another show with beautiful visuals ( with sakurako-san).

All those questions questioning life..And Magata's character's is smart and mysterious. If she's evil one , then uhh , this should be interesting in the future.

Also Saikawa's words..About disappearing..

And ED Is Awesome in both visuals and music :)
Although car CGI was a bit strange in beginning

I liked it.
I think it has potential, and hope it is able to bring some interesting ideas.
The first episode had some interesting ideas shown already, but nothing too crazy.
I have good expectations, and hope this anime doesnt disappoint

Slow paced start. Animation was pretty nice. I can't say I really liked the first episode in particular because of the slow start. But I think it's tough to say something because this is probably a lot of information which is needed to understand the next episodes. Besides, sometimes slow starts can be really good because when they do turn into something exciting, it has a bigger effect on me. When reading the synopsis it becomes clear that the real story hasn't really started yet so anything could happen later on. The synopsis sounds really interesting so I'm definitely going to finish this series. Has the potential to be a very good series.

That was an awesome first episode, I enjoyed it very much even though nothing really happened. It's setting up an interesting premise. The only thing I dislike is Moe so far, her jealousy or whatever is getting on my nerves.

This is definitely an anime for intellectuals.

Seven is a lonely number because 1x2x3x4x5x6 = 8x9x10

>nothing happened

The episode did a pretty damn good job setting up the mystery atmosphere/island setup and building its tone for when the actual mystery starts. It put together the building blocks necessary for that something to happen. I liked that it wasn't basic by jumping right into the mystery to capture viewers' attention, it's relying on tone and character dynamic. So it'll deliver immensely when that something does happen.

Liked it. Kunieda is already my fav character, simply because she gave a look to make her shut up when she tried to make her wait for her finishing her small talk when she's trying to do work.

I personally loved the 1st episode. For a mystery/murder series I believe the pacing is great and the characters interesting. I definitely going to keep watching this, and I definitely enjoyed this more than Sakurako-san..... Lots of potential in here. All in all, my expectations were met, so I’m pleased.

Also, both, OP and ED, are one of the best I’ve seen this season. That, along with the character designs.

Excellent start to the series. Fully justifies it being one of two potential top animes this season (personal opinion). The characters were plenty interesting, and despite it being quite convo-heavy, established quite an interesting premises already.

Cannot wait to see what they do to maintain the atmosphere we have here.

Well, this was different. Don't know where this is going just yet but I like it.

It seems this would be the anime insight into geniuses' mind. Most of them are viewing their lives on much broader perspective and are not happy with themselves as a result.

Not a huge fan, but definitely like it enough to continue having moderate to good expectations for it. I like Nishinosono's design, gave me a Tsunemori Akane vibe from her. Nice to see this not using vibrant colors all too much. I think we have enough of that this season. Terrible 3DCG though, utterly terrible.

Think it's the same seiyuu too.

Nope. She is Tanezaki Atsumi, the one that voiced Lisa in Noitamina's Zankyou no Terror last year.
I noticed it back then already. Either she has very similiar voice as HanaKana or she does everything she can to mimic her. And I also hear some imitation of infamous Sakura Ayane in Moe's voice.

Opening this episode with solo Bach was a great idea. It got me interested immediately.

This episode was absolutely nothing but dialogue and was very good. Kudos to that because that's not an easy thing to do and they managed to do it with very little musical aid. I'm looking forward to the actual plot as more things are revealed. Overall a good introductory episode.

i admit a few seconds had me bored but the art reeled me back in.
i'd rather they throw the murder in next episode, don't feel like sit for 1-2 episodes of build up tbh

Yeah, that thing hooked me too. They basically used this solo as motive for whole episode, while other, quieter parts (during Dr.Magata interrogation for example) were done by famous Kenji Kawai. I'm really looking forward to what he can do with music in this anime.

Anyone interested in whole Bach part can listen to it here:

Nice OP. Asano Inio's character designs are another plus. Enjoyable OP. First soundtrack into the episode is Bach's Cello Suite 1.

I have high hopes.

This episode was a lot exchanging information and words between 2 people or more) which is just the most common thing there is, and yet it was very interesting. The conversations weren't rushed. The characters took their time and said what we think they wanted, with the proper expressions, that even when done oddly, felt right.

Nothing to really go on was presented in this episode, other than the atmosphere presented seeming to show that this anime could end up beig the type of anime I like to watch in the end. Something dark/ intriguing like Steins Gate- intriguing, not super dark. or Rin- without the torture porn.

Just the mystery feeling was presented here...It was lil creepy and fine but aside that...Not much of precise character introduction or course of action...

I'll keep it...But if persists this way, with too much animes to watch on this season, I'll drop...

Well actually author of mouryou no hako(kyogoku)and Subetega F ninaru(mori) are often compared each other among mystery fans

They represent second generation of new honkaku mystery novel (Japanese equivalent of puzzle story) and characters/dialogue atmosphere are unique(maybe chuni-byou ish in a way)

the mephisto prize is established to cerebrate/empathize debuet of mori and publisher found mori thorough looking for second kyougoku so publisher called kyougoku as 0th mephisto prize winner(mori is first mephisto prize winner )

subetega f ninaru series and mouryou no hako series selling similar number (4million vs 5million)in same time late 90s

kyogoku wrote Subetega debu ninaru parody of Subetega f ninaru
