You are entitled to your opinion, man, but you needlessly put tons of text into a thread that isn't about it. I still think the adaptation is good, but it's the material that wasn't very good from the start for me.

As I said if you don't like stories like that don't bother with it, everyone has a different taste, but people bash TG mainly because of it's pathetic anime adaptation.

Oh, but I did want to bother with it. Because I liked a story that dealt with the same themes and even though it was a lot rougher in writing, it actually worked for me (Kiseijuu). That's why I had a glimmer of hope for this, lol. As for everyone bashing the very adaptation... I'm at a loss of words for some reason.

Kiseiju had an awesome adaptation that's why nobody makes fun of it. I also liked Parasyte (The anime version). The problem is that TG manga can be too shounen-y for some people. Maybe that's why you didn't like it?

The character cast was too large and only a handful was developed at least a little. Certain plot points revealed later in the story seemed out of nowhere (the identity of the One-Eyed Owl, the Clowns and what not...)... There's a lot more to it, but this isn't the thread for it, lol.

One Eyed Owl indenity was foreshadowed. Did you forget about RC cell scanners?
The Clowns - Typical backstabbing bastards(trope/cliche used in many mediums). Not to mention that it was mentioned that Arima fought Uta and we all know that at some point Arima was in that ward to eradicate the clown gang.
I used to know one film critic who hated too many characters in movies. I guess you are one of those people and judging from your list you don't like Durarara as much as others.

And I do agree that we are derailing the thread.

I'm not surprised. My older sister watches Game of Thrones with my Mom. I just find it personally uncomfortable to watch sex scenes with other people, especially family members.

Might as well watch porn

I watched Naruto in the living room, and my parents would watch it without commenting. I watched the Supernatural anime with my mom and she liked it. (we're both Supernatural superfans though, so she'd like anything Supernatural) I think my parents would like Ergo Proxy and Fate/ series, and maybe Psycho-Pass. (we're all generally sci-fi/fantasy fans). And my mom might like AnoHana. But there are already several other live action shows that we watch each season with not a lot of time for anything else, and I normally watch anime after everyone is asleep.

A few weeks ago my mom actually asked me to show her some anime because she was curious what it was like. I showed her a couple episodes of Your Lie in April, and she wanted to watch the whole show, I was pretty surprised. My dad even joined us and we finished the series within about a week, they loved it. My mom even wanted to marathon the last ~8 episodes in one night but my dad didn't have time. Started watching Hanasaku Iroha with them recently but not sure if they will like it as much.

While watching any anime in the living room, my dad would always pop in and say "do something meaningful with your life son." He then takes the remote and change it to Better Homes and Garden.

As with my mom and sister, they couldn't care less what I watch.

My mom was never big on films and movies in general so anime really doesn't interest her. Unfortunately, my father passed away years ago but I get the feeling he wouldve enjoyed watching Jojo's Bizarre Adventure with me.

I haven't watched anime with either of 'em.

I watch anime with my mom almost all the time. Even the really perverted ones, but that's just because she is in the room while I watch it on my TV, but she doesn't care.

The ones I currently watch with her are Kuroko no Basket and Food Wars. We recently finished Sound Euphonium.

Yes.
Digital_Fuzion said:

With Dad:
Azumanga Daioh - likes what he's seen, which is about the same amount that I have
Akira - loved it
Another - loved it
Blood: The Last Vampire - loved it; said it should have been longer
Death Billiards - liked it
Death Note - likes it; loves L and Ryuk
Eden of the East - loved it; though Saki and Akira's relationship was sweet
Furiko - liked it
Ghibli films - loves them
Memories - liked it; loved the first film
Noein - loved it
Origin: Spirits of the Past - liked it
Petshop of Horrors - loved it; often reminisces about 'Count-o D'
Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom - loved it; this was his gateway anime; often talks about it, and how it 'got [him] into anime'
Pokémon - enjoys what he's seen, I think
Serial Experiments Lain - enjoyed it; found it hard to follow at times, but that's kind of the point
Shigurui - found it too difficult to follow, so stopped watching after six episodes

With Mum:
5 Centimetres per Second - thought it was okay; I agree
Anohana - loved it
Azumanga Daioh - likes what she's seen
Furiko - liked it
Ghibli films - loves them
Ouran High School Host Club - likes it, finds it a little ridiculous

I've not watched as much with my mum, as she's far busier with work than my dad is; he's also had time to read manga, whereas my mum has no time to read anything.

I have watched Miyazaki films with them. A long time ago. I watched Princess Mononoke when I was 4 years old with my parents. It traumatized me. Seeing that white boar god turn into a demon terrified me. When I asked my parents what the tendril things were, they said they were blood vessels. Then from that point on I was afraid of blood until I had a better grasp on biology.

She was fine with Fruits Basket ,Attack on Titan, and FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood.Chobits she said it was weird then again she only saw episode 4. I dont know her thoughs on Black Butler in general. We saw Black Lagoon on Toonami before I started watching it and we were both confused because I think it was too far in for either of us to understand. I do want to show her a few others like Durarara and Soul Eater but her work prevents it sadly.

Euphonium, so we're watching Hyouka now, and my dad's been watching Kill la Kill with me the past few weeks (we don't get a lot of time together...). It's always great fun. Both of my parents liked The Secret World of Arrietty. My mom loves it, and she also loves My Neighbor Totoro. While she is okay with a couple of others, usually she doesn't enjoy anime very much. My dad enjoys it even less (he seemed okay with Castle in the Sky and Voices of a Distant Star). My older brother also likes Arrietty, as well as From Up On Poppy Hill and Voices of a Distant Star. My brother and I used to watch Pokemon when we were little so we still enjoy that sometimes. But really, I usually just watch anime alone. I have a couple of friends who like it. :)

My mom really liked the Death Note live action movies. XD

Princess Mononoke practically traumatized me when I was sixteen, lol. No wonder you were upset by it at 4! I didn't like it at all and even fast forwarded a part. But now I understand it and really like it, but... yeah.
