Well, you have to pay money (or used to I believe.) and there are other 3rd party sites where content is better and there are downloads available.

3. Because they cant get crunchyroll in their country.

I use crunchyroll for shows like Gacchimon because the subs and the video quality dont fucking matter.

Why? If you don't want to pay for it, you get low video quality and far less animes to watch as opposed to nearly all animes and great video quality when downloading fansubs.

You gotta earn money some way, if they didn't they'd be a non-succeeding business and there wouldn't be close to as much anime as there is on there cause they share revenue with the studios they have set up deals with.

Because others can't be bothered to make bothersome accounts or pay for anything. It gives you much better video quality although having to pay is a big no no for a lot of people. If you are definitely not going to pay (shame shame) then 'Anime Lab' is basically a free crunchyroll, Haven't seen the vid quality though.

Upon getting my android phone one of the first apps I checked were Crunchyroll. The first 7 or so animes I tried to search all came up with blank results. Fairly big animes too.

Uninstalled it. Awful selection aside, I also hate the wastefulness of streaming. I'd pay for a Steam analogue, but not a netflix analogue.

Also doesn't always have currently airing shows on it.

Damn ads interrupting in the middle of action/sentences.

Nice try CR.
CR a shit.
They do what fansubs does, but makes you pay for it and deliver mediocre material.
They used to steal animu from nips like every other fansub, then when found the gap, monopolized the whole western distribution and makes you pay for the high-quality release if you don't wanna watch the shitty 2bit steam exploding with advertisement and shitty packet loss.
The don't support the industry neither helps actual advertisement on the lands they are active and only gives substantial attention to NARUTO and fighting shounen crap.
Their subtitles is awfully timed, the typeset sucks and back in the days they got some of the DUMBEST fansubs to do it for them, resulting is some of the most comical lines and/or blank lines when they didn't know what how to translate (e.g: Haikyuu).
But above all, you're obligated to stick to the steam. Streaming animu, in 2004+10, no fucking way.
Also it would be nice if they learned how to karaoke.

I've had a CR subscription for almost 4 years now and use it heavily, but I've noticed their subs can be kind of shitty on some shows. It seems pretty variable. Other than that, I wish they'd get more of the seasonal shows, whereas right now they seem to get around 1/2 to 2/3. I have a Funi subscription and Hulu+ to try and bridge the gap, but for some shows I still have to torrent or use IRC.

Why should I hate Crunchyroll ?
Because they tried to get into the german market causing troubles for the anime publisher for DVD and BlueRays.
Why - ? Because if the people would prefer streaming it instead of buying an hardcopy of the medium, the all existing publisher would make less money ...

But until now it is just a small blow of wind .

Too bad most "fansub" groups just rip Crunchyroll subs now. We need real groups again.

I think people don't like it because now a days it's all about live streeming, and they can't put anything that's going to be licensed on Youtoube. Eventually they'll find it and ban them for it.

The only reason I know about CR is because before Ouran High school host club was aired in the US i watched all of it on there.

I really didn't go back since then though so I Can't really say other then the reason i think that's listed above

It depends I guess. Since "fansubbers" are lazy now. We're going to get shitty translations regardless due to all the CR rips. So there's either no point in watching currently airing anime or hoping that there exists an actual good group out there for the shows.

Lol yh this is it for a lot of people pretty much. Crunchy Roll is great apart from the playback / server issues that they get and reduced content outside of Europe. If not for that I would be able to recommend it.

I can definitely understand why some people may prefer other cheaper, higher quality and less legal services for their anime, but I don't see how any hate can be justifiable. CR is doing more good for the anime industry in the West, second only to BD sales.

It's good to watch it in order to support anime legally coming to rest of the world, as well as pay the pretty cheap fee. It also has a fine repertoire of anime all the time. The backside is that it doesn't have top quality, but that's why you have "other sources" or buy the DVDs/BDs if you can afford that.
