Never thought a shounen anime could nail religion like that. I'm starting to like Elric now.

Sorry but i din't get it, if the stone was a fake how did the evil guy break the laws of alchemy by like creating the gun from nothing and becoming beast form. One more thing, did he actually resurrect the dead, if so how without the stone? Sorry maybe i missed something but will be happy for a reply

The stone wasn't an actual Philosopher Stone, it was a tiny fragment of it. It had the same ability of taking the place of equivalent exchange in Transmutation but it wasn't as powerful and lasting as the "whole" thing. Also, he didn't resurrect the dead, he just made promises to do it.

Great episode they really got the first couple episodes from the original quite compacted in this one, although I would have loved to see the scene with the parrot with Rose's boyfriends voice but well this compacter version had more impact and better story development in general!

Let's see what's next!

it's similar to the first episode of the first season(or the other way around) except the first season didn't have rose shoot anyone and the Priest became a beast O____O

much better i think since the Priest put up a fight.

aww they change Gluttony's voice too :\

but Kikou Inoue's Lust voice is sexy :)

they definitely sped this up more than the first season(i took 2-3 episodes i think)

there weren't multiple statues moving around the town impressing people before Ed exposes this fraud.

i actually didn't mind Rose being more lighter this time around. i think as someone said Liore is not in a middle of the desert so she won't darken that easily.

and the speech Ed gave is the same one as the first season.

man the Nina arc is next T____T

brace yourselves....

cannot wait ^^

again, pretty good, but a bit too SPED UP! It was hilarious though. Father Cornello really got PLAYED like a FOOL in Brotherhood version. I'm sure Gluttony had a nice dinner looooooool.

Alright, we've seen a false Father Cornello in this episode.According to rumors, he has been performing some 'miracles'.
Yes, a corrupted moral leader... nust we need.
BTW, have you realized that Edward's voice is Hitsugaya's from Bleach ?*

Ah right, the city worshipped a different God- but what I meant was the fact that Truth stated that people also referred to it as God during Elric's flashback.

....wow... that was pretty shitty.

The directing was bad, the comedy is even more misplaced, and the characters besides Ed and Al were shit. Hell, Ed and Al seemed pretty shitty too, but it was mostly due to the bad directing.

In the original series, Rose in this particular arc was actually a tragic character I sympathized for, and though this episode does show her background (i.e. her fiancee), it was only for a few seconds. I didn't feel the gravity of the situation at all compared to the original. Instead, Rose just seems like a dumb naive girl. Same case with the rest of the people. I didn't get that sense of unrest from them.

Father Cornello wasn't convincing at all, and he was laughably bad antagonist.

I know that this arc has only a small part of the entirety of the series, and I'm only 3 episodes in, but so far, I'm disappointed in this. Really. Apparently, Brotherhood gets amazing past episode 10 or something. Well, it better, otherwise it'll find its place on my dropped list.

Darker my ass. If you call ill timed gags and comedy darker, then I'd agree with you. I'm on episode 16 now, and though it has its shadier moments, Brotherhood is a lot more lighthearted than 2003.

Rose was annoying.

Episode was pretty average content wise other than Lust and Gluttony. Comedy was sort of out of place, it was supposed to be serious.

I liked better the FMA Lior arc than this one. It was darker and less rushed. Too much comedy and some directing tricks were a little bit off.
Well I haven't read the manga so I don't know which version is more faithful and how important this arc was in the first place so I still keep my expectations high :)

This episode would've worked a lot better as the first episode, like in the original series. I kept thinking about what a better surprise/introduction to their bodies this episode would be.

Never liked or felt sorry for Rosa. Grieving over loved ones is not an excuse for murder.

Not impressed so far with FMAB. This was done significantly worse than the original, where i actually gave a shit for Rose and there was decent backstory/suspense. Here its just 1 big rushed joke, with atrocious pacing, although that is supposedly more in line with the manga (which must be subpar at the beginning as well.)

I will be patient and expect it to pick up, but already with a handful of mediocre episodes at the beginning it does not deserve to have the top rank on Mal, even if the remaining episodes were all completely flawless (which i see they most certainly are not).

The True Ultimate Elite LOGH (Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu) in the entirety of it's 110 episodes doesn't have as much fail as the 1st few episodes of FMAB.

It's subjective, but I actually think, too, that FMA is darker. FMAB is lighthearted, cause you just saw the comedy in this episode. Either way, I like both dark and lighthearted, so I don't mind.

Anyway I hate force convincing that God is not existing and everything is a science. I hope that it was only one episode like this one.

They don't really talk about religion... But you should know what you are getting yourself into if you have at least read the synopsis/have an idea what the anime is about. It's Fullmetal ALCHEMIST and related to science after all.

Episode not very different from that seen in the FMA, the dfferenze are very small, although the clash between Cornello and Ed, in the first moments, looked more like a farce, as the ironic tone. It pervades the whole episode, but it is very annoying, quality of drawings but not excellent enough, enough sets, the first season seemed much better from this point of view.
