I didn't watch season 1 but I like to say that this episode felt more boring than mars of destruction. I don't if I missing something. Maybe it is not the right anime for me.
Well to be honest I'd say it was one of the weaker Mushishi episodes but this is just the beginning. Maybe you'll like the next episode?

I recommend watching the first season so you get a feel for the anime. If you don't like the first season then you probably won't like the second either because they follow the same formula.

Still, to say that this episode was even worse than Mars of Destruction is a pretty bold statement ^^

After EIGHT f-years.

8/10 for this episode.
Isayama Hajime should be awarded The Manga with The Highest Inconsistencies of Characters' Appearances.
He keeps performing multiple plastic surgeries on those Shingeki No Kyojin characters in a SINGLE chapter.
Yes, I've read up to the latest chapter of Shingeki No Kyojin manga.
Forced myself to read through the kidsketching chapters after the anime's ended. At least from now on, I only have to go through the hell once a month.
Patiently awaiting SNK TV/movie/OVA anime-sequel.
The 2015 SNK live-action movie would probably suck.

THAT OP... I can't believe they outdid the sore feet song, it was simply amazing. I even liked how they changed the colour scheme from mainly green to blue.
Apart from that, this was a good introductory episode, but otherwise it was kind of weak compared to other stories from S1. Can't wait to watch the next episode, though.

By the way, does the second cour that will air during the Fall season count as season 3 or is it still part of Zoku Shou?
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

I might be the only one, but I'm happy the narrator lady has the same voice. It really adds to the atmosphere and it just make the series seem continuous because so many things are similar.

Glorious golden sake! Just finished the first season and watching this I can say they kept up the whole theme quite well.
Animation quality is gorgeous and like the previous season there is extra emphasis on the backgrounds which gives really immerses me into the world of mushi.
Liked the opening as well...this time a female singer and the calming pictures make it just as mellow as the previous opening.

It's a split-cour. The other 12 will air this fall, I think.

So glad to hear Nakano Yuto's relaxed and calming voice as ginko again.

The OP was nice but for me, still inferior to the first season's OP.

This was a good way to break back into the series, with some good mushi and a good outcome. I don't expect that to last the whole series though.

I loved the ambiance, the music and the graphics. But there were no highs or lows. It just kept going on, and while I liked the story, I hope the other episodes have something to break the monotony.

Though I guess that would be out of character, for the series, or what I've been led to believe is the series.

Damn I've missed this show! So glad it's back even if it's 10 episodes long I'm sure it will be lovely as hell! This first episode alone already totally got me in the Mushishi mood :3 Really awesome start of this second season and well let's see what's next!

Yeah, very nice opening. Aside from that, I don't see anything exciting.
Don't know why I'm watching this. I didn't enjoyed the manga and I find many chapters are much more boring animated.
Well I like Ginko. And some of the stories are good. Too bad there is not much character or story development.

Its been a while since i finished season 1, it feels very good to come back to this show and see the quality has not faltered at all, in one episode it delivered a touching story with alot of thought put into the rules of the world and mushi. Music is fantastic and the atmosphere is spot on like always.

Its the same old mushishi i loved the first time around, and if the quality stays that way than its already another 10 for me

Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

So beautiful and soothing. Watching this show is like listening to sleep-inducing music, in a good way. Even when there's action, it's still somehow so peaceful and lulling.

Ginko is like the Japanese Fox Mulder.

edgy

But I'll admit I think the debut episode for S1 was a lot better and, IMO, a much better start to the series as a whole. Fortunately, this is only the start to the season, not to the series, because this is not an episode I'd show someone new to the series.

That said, it was still a peaceful and atmospheric episode, just like I expect out of Mushishi. Kind of weird hearing Ginko with any voice other than Travis's after watching the first season dubbed, though.

Beautiful first episode, maybe not as strong as the first season but if this was aired right after the first season you wouldnt even know it had been this many years.
Also the OP was pretty good :)
I still get the relaxed laid back feeling watching this as I did with the first season.

Not really. If you don't like the first season, every story is different so it is worth it to try any mushishi episode. Its like watching a movie, a different one each time.

This season is off on a 9/10 start.
It was just as good as the movie ova thing the 45mins one. So good!

Also the animation quality was amazing. As expected of blu-ray.
I can't get over how good the ost was and the story. Simply amazing.
I think I really liked it because it had Sake in it and brewing is cool and interesting. Also they explained kouki and they showed other mushishi.
