I have never hated a character more than how much I now hate Manaka. By extension, take that hate and divide it by zero, you now have the hate I have for Mari Okada. The only thing keeping my watching this every Thursday is to see the extent (of shit) to which an anime can fall and if Kaname will go Mankoto mode and make it somewhat less shit. This is going to be one insane NTR trainwreck chinese cartoon. Time skip when? Fatalpulse doujin of Manaka when? I need to stop now before a falcon punch is upon me and my monitor. Good day all. Absolutely in love with this episode! The confession both Hikari n Chisaki made are so good! I kinda understand Chisaki for saying "don't chase" and "go chase her". I'm glad finally Chisaki realized that her feeling for Hikari is just because she wants to be loved in the way Hikari do for Manaka. Kaname is the true hero here. Got jealous and being a dick for a moment give us those confessions and make everything clear. Hikari is a man now. It's nice to hear he said that he just like Chisaki, who afraid of ruin their friendship. Manaka, yeah I hated her from start and it's not change. But I like it that in the end she realized she want to go to Hikari side. Damn Tsumugu!! You got your own story, huh? Tsumugu and Chisaki ship is slowly sailing though.. Realized it by the way Tsumugu looked at Chisaki. And Chisaki that finally realized that she's not the only one suffering. I think he glad that Chisaki decided to confess and he will confess to her soon enough. Overall, can't wait for next episode! This anime really great in every episode, makes me crazy watching it in front of my laptop. Haha. |

Gah... this episode left me speechless. First, I want to talk about Kaname. I think him running off to see Chisaki after Tsumugu carried her to the see was a major turning point in his character. I really like that this episode expanded on his flaws and insecurities (hereby resulting in the disintegration of his mature façade) without making him seem like a complete jerk. I can't help but feel that Kaname has started resenting Tsumugu in spite of himself, especially after Chisaki declared in episode 9 that she hated Tsumugu. Chisaki, I think, is Kaname's weak spot, the one person he can't bring himself to be objective or mature about, though he certainly tries to. So, even though he knows Tsumugu is a generally nice person, he can't help but hold a slight grudge against the other boy- one he considered a good friend till then, but not part of his inner circle- for spending time with Chisaki. same could be said with regard to his feelings regarding Hikari and Chisaki- albeit to a lesser extent, since the three of them are best friends. I don't think he expected Chisaki to confess so soon, and despite telling Chisaki- and himself- that he shouldn't expect anything, he can't help but be bothered by her attempt. I think his insecurities are somewhat similar to the ones Chisaki had earlier in the season- the chief difference (for now) being that guilt seems to have played a bigger role in developing Chisaki's insecurities than it did with Kaname. The question he posed in the classroom was brutal, and a little cruel. I'm not justifying his actions, but I can understand where he's coming from. I think it was partly due to petty jealousy and resentment, and partly due to the fact that and partly due to the fact that he's genuinely scared that they'll all hibernate with doubts and regrets plaguing them- possibly seeing each other for the last time. For all his flaws, I think he genuinely cares for his friends, and I don't think it's coincidence that he (and not the other kids) was the one to consistently point out that they had little time left. I see that moment as a temporary hardening of the heart- maybe he thought that such a brutal manner was the only way in which the other three would take the topic seriously and face the truth. Nevertheless, it backfired, and I really felt sorry for poor Kaname in the end- he is trying to do good, but that backfired horribly. I really hope the four kids reconcile soon, because Kaname's tone at the end was heartbreakingly hopeless. Next, Tsumugu. I like the development he got in this episode. I predicted that he had parent issues the moment his grandfather said he'd run away from home- and I was right, if his uneasiness round his mother was any indication. One wonders what caused it... I hope the series expands on that soon. It could also indicate stubbornness on Tsumugu's part, since he brought the girls along with him just so that he could say no to his mother. It's probable that she's trying to make amends for whatever happened in the past, but he isn't quite ready to forgive her yet. The scene with him and Chisaki was very sweet, and I'm glad to see that their friendship has been repaired. (I'm not really an fan of Tsumugu/Chisaki as a couple, but I really like the idea of the two of them being friends. Well, we'll see how things pan out.) Chisaki's confession was a tender moment, and really speaks volumes about how much she and Hikari have progressed. It's nice to see Chisaki actually be open and honest about her feelings and admit that she loved Hikari because she admired the way he loved Manaka. It's a glorified kind of love, but it's really heartening to her realise that and take it in stride. Hikari's reaction was surprisingly calm- a testament to his development. I don't think he'll let go of his feelings for Manaka, but he's certainly aware, and I think that should ease any awkward feelings in their relationship, at least- on Chisaki's part, at least. I think, at this point, he realises there's nothing he can do but let Manaka figure things out on her own, or seek help from someone more suitable than him. It's a realisation on his part- that he can't always expect Manaka to depend on him. Speaking of Manaka, I really felt sorry for the poor girl this episode. Kaname's behaviour and Hikari's subsequent confession was like a bombshell to her, just when she'd shown some signs of acceptance regarding the hibernation in the previous episode. She's back to where she was, floundering as to whether she should return Hikari's affections or continue liking Tsumugu. I think part of the reason why she reacted so badly was because it was so unexpected- she didn't feel the need to consider her emotional conflicts and could enjoy her life normally for a short period of time. Yes, it's rather escapist in nature, but it's also realistic; this isn't the sort of thing a 13/14 year old girl (especially one who's been sheltered by her childhood friends till recently) can figure out on her own quickly. I don't think Manaka's ready to make that large leap yet; her character development is slower than the other kids (which I believe is reasonable considering her background and the nature of her problems). What she needs now is a constant guiding presence- someone who offers advice and helps her become more decisive and independent. |

Hikari yet again surprises me this episode with his maturity and understanding of the situation at hand. I truly believed I would not like his character at all, though in hindsight it makes sense he'd be the one who'd mature the most considering. Chisaki was nice this episode. Her and tsumugu's interactions were quite lovely to see even though it seems more along the lines of a new friendship. It's good to have them see eye to eye. Tsumugu dude! You just have to be in the right place every time don't you? I really find the little bits of his past quite reminiscent of my own experiences. Sad to say because of this I don't like the way things look for his character development(as the character himself). Manaka yet again runs off into the distance to god knows where. I know she's the baby of the group, but there's so much potential to be had with her character. Kaname all I can say is, you tried your best to make them understand and because they still didn't you had to resort to putting everything out in the open. Can't wait to see more development from him. All in all loved the episode and will be awaiting the next one. |

Wow. After twelves episodes I think this is the first I'll say that was a GREAT episode. I can't believe how much the characters have grown and developed. It's like Annoying Hikari was just a figment of my imagination haha! Kaname, the usually calm and rational guy, just had to ask that question. Can't blame him for doing what he did. The kid gloves come off when you feel threatened. Sure some might see it as him helping Hikari be honest with himself but it was also his way to prevent Chisaki from confessing...which didn't quite work. Not to mention there's a potential Chisaki x Tsumugu brewing...or was Chisaki just overreacting when her arm touched Tsumugu? Chisaki confessing to Hikari...ah you've grown. Someone please make a chart of who likes you. I'm getting a little confused now. |

Honestly, I hope Kaname gets more screen time. I still find Tsumugu fairly boring, but we'll see if that changes should they enlighten us on his background. In the past few episodes, all the confessions have been popping up. Hopefully this means something will happen and people will actually talk about it. Rather than confess...and then leave it alone to simmer. |

What an episode!!! it was like all of a sudden BAM all these confessions within minutes of each other! and the tension between everyone... I'm really interested in knowing what's going to happen between everyone in the group. I was pleasantly surprised with the Chisaki and Hikari moment towards the end, those two have grown so much. and Kaname, finally get to see him and his true emotional conflict. And the fact that everyone's starting to fall asleep, it's all getting real now. |

The lolis are always amusing, Sayu is truly evil. When Chisaki and Tsumugu bumped into each other at the thrift shop, my inner Tsusaki ship emerged and I started cheering in excitement. It's going to happen, I can feel it now! I liked that heartfelt discussion between Akari and her dad, it was a great resolution to their conflicting ideas. And it also shows how hard many parents do try, even if it's not apparent right away. I really loved this episode, everyone's feelings finally spilled over. I like how this series handles the drama and tension, it feels so natural and never feels like it's being forced out to jerk tears. Kaname, Chisaki, and Hikari are now all in the same boat, unable to stop the one they love from escaping their reach. The ost that played when Hikari chased after Manaka was wonderful and captured the feelings of it all so well. Easily my favorite show of the season now. |

Hikari's father is so sweet cooking soup for the siblings even if he's not really good with it and he finally accepts Akari's decision to be married. The talk between the two made my eyes teary but that bartender made me laugh LOL During the flag scene, I had the same reaction with Manaka. Hikari looks so cool/manly! I think she Manaka likes Hikari but she haven't realized it yet. Kaname looked disappointed when he learned that Tsumugu went with the two girls to buy the wardrobe. Is Tsumugu a threat for him? Then he cockblocked Chisaki's confession. He can be cruel sometimes. He's honest.. or frank. I mean he can say the things others can't like how the hibernating children look dead and in the first episode when he told Chisaki that if Manaka goes for Tsumugu, Hikari will go to her. Hikari imitated their school teacher. LOL 5/5 |

Kaname's actions have really been catching my eye lately - the way he forced Hikari to confess to Manaka read both as a catalyst to finally have everything out in the open before hibernation, but he also clearly did it to try and sabotage Chisaki's confession. In a way, it's very interesting to see the calm and mature façade slipping away - no matter how he pretends to be over it all, Kaname is still also just a kid stuck with unrequited feelings for a girl in love with his best friend. It's also intriguing how he seemed uneasy that Tsumugu went to the city with Makana and Chisaki, this and the following scene with Tsumugu and Chisaki touching arms make me wonder if the people saying that TsumuguxChisaki is brewing are onto something. Kinf of hope there's only friendship there though, since the already convoluted love chart would get even crazier if something happens between the two. And like others have commented, Hikari really has grown up. From turning around and checking whether Chisaki's alright, to listening to her confession empathetically and without freaking out - he's really not the brat he was at the beginning anymore. Chisaki also has developed a lot - not only confessing when she knows her feelings are unrequited, but having the courage to do so right after hearing Hikari admit he likes Makana - she's gone a long way from the cowardly girl she used to be. Makana seems to be starting to see Hikari as a man as opposed to her best friend / brother figure, so it's pretty normal that she's quite confused what to do about the whole situation. While her slower development and tendency to react to any kind of distress with crying can get a little annoying, I'm rooting for her to have some development and become a person who understands herself better. Same with Tsumugu - I would like to learn more about him, he's had a surprisingly small amount of focus so far for someone mean to be one of the main characters. |

I feel so bad for Kaname, he's only trying to do what the others couldn't do by their own. He's trying to shoulder the pain to be the one to wake up his friends, even if he get's hated for it. He's definitely the best character in this series so far. I hope he somehow get's Chisaki Manaka ... well, she's like she always is. I kinda understand why she reacts like that 'cause she's frightened and maybe really doesn't understand it at all, but always running away crying like that is annoying. However, it's good to see that nearly all of them (except Manaka) revealed their feeling to the one they love. I have to admit I disliked the series after watching the first two or three episodes, but now i started to enjoy watching it. I hope they'll retain the good work. |

What is UP with Chisaki? Her friend runs out of the school all upset and all she has to say to Hikari is to not run after her? Why would she do that? She should have found a better time to confess, and if there wasn't an opportunity available, don't say it at all. That's just being selfish and impulsive. The whole hibernation plot is really rushing the character relations; it's like a pre-war era when people are hastily getting married because they don't know what'll happen. :S Hikari shouldn't have confessed in front of everyone. What the hell did he think was gonna happen? Nothing good will come out of it, and he's just putting Manaka on the spot. I'm glad he took Chisaki's confession maturely though. Kaname, while meaning well (for the most part; he was also frustrated at Hikari getting Chisaki's attention) and trying to sort out the issues within their circle, forces everyone to face their feelings. I don't think his methods were justified; they're again impulsive as a reaction to the hibernation, and were humiliating and cruel. Chisaki was right for chiding him. I'm glad Manaka is seeing Hikari as a guy and moving away from her feelings for Tsumugu, but I hope she grows out of running away when being put on the spot. I'm feeling so ambivalent about this series. It looks gorgeous, and some of the lore is interesting, but the character interactions are sometimes so unlikeable because of how rash and selfish the characters can be. The script creates poor drama that really should be played out more naturally a la Shin Sekai Yori. |

I liked the atmosphere in this episode and how everyone's confessing to the other, but it's so sad at the same time I mean : Kaname -> Chisaki -> Hikari -> Manaka -> Tsumugu.. Ugh which makes me wonder when Manaka was swimming at the end of the episode it seemed like she was going to confess to Tsumugu but then she was all like"Hii-kun~".. Kinda confusing, but ended in a good cliff-hanger. This gets better and better every episode, and I must say that Kaname may be my favorite out of them as I'm starting to consider the girls Chisaki & Manaka a bit.. eh how to say.. I mean I find Manaka childish in her way of handling "love" //When she pushed Hikari// Well yea.. And Chisaki she's trying to put the "brave/understanding girl act" forgetting about Kaname's feelings as well //She told him what he did was horrible not caring bout how he felt about her// UGH IM LOVING THIS THOUGH, I'M LOOKING UP FOR THE NEXT EPISODE ~ *u* |

What I really didn't like about this episode was how the confession was played and that someone, again, ran off. Like every time there's this huge, suspenseful moment a person runs away in shame or confusion. I get it. I get it's supposed to be symbolic of how they're not willing to face the truth just yet but can't there be other ways of executing it? Feels like the same scenario over and over with just a different person confessing their feelings or something. And Kanameeeee~cutieeee~ I love you~ I loved how he just openly displays his fustration now. Pretty epic. I just didn't like how much of a prick he was in that scene where Hikari was acting as a teacher or something (okay, I'll just settle that I liked near to nothing about that scene, ugh, as beautiful as the show makes the Hikari and Chisaki moment afterwards). And Hikari and Chisaki. I can't see why anyone would want to ship them at this point. They have zero chemistry, IMO. Not that I will insult a person for shipping but I want to know the reason for supporting this ship. They're so platonic and understand each other on a level of shared experience, not really so for learning and depending on one another. Despite this, I couldn't really buy Chiskai's 'falling in love with the Hikari who's in love with Manaka,' excuse though. From how I saw, she loved Hikari who Hikari is (she admits he's brash but also cares dearly for his friends. What part of this is untrue and only applies to Manaka? Ugh, frustrating). Why does the show have to dump this cop out to shift the drama from Manaka-Hikari-Chisaki to Tsugumu-Manaka-Hikari? Not that I like one triangle over the other. I've grown very fond of Kaname at this point. Boy needs more development and story asap. It's the first time I had absolutely no qualms with Tsugumu on my own accord, not additional effort to force myself to like him. BECAUSE THAT MOMENT WITH HIM AND HIS MOM WAS SO AWESOME. Like I barely gave a damn about the character and his nearly nonexistent personality but damn, that scene with his mother reaally showed the difference between his normal stoicism and his stoicism that shows he's annoyed. This episode reaaally made me love him and makes me wonder why couldn't we have this scene earlier in the show? I rather have him developed first and letting romance take the backseat because the romance is getting real repetitive fast. (And damn, now that Chisaki is [unfairly and unreasonably] out of the triangle with Hikari, will we have Miuna part of it? Lol. A part of me is interested while another part is just thinking really? Bit too much, lol. But that Sayu-Kaname-Chisaki love triangle sounds potentially great. Since I can see Sayu being a real hot headed bitch to Chisaki while Chisaki acts this nonchalant, cool ice princess demeanor.) |

Tsugumu with family issues.Maybe cause his mom abandon the sea/Tsugumu's dad for life on land? Kaname pushing for progress. https://24.media.tumblr.com/e7efbcdc16c3ef20261d45334262b045/tumblr_mxudntT5n91sfq22go2_500.gif "I'm doing the best I can too..." "I love Manaka." About time Hikari confessed.Same thing with Chisaki. Dat ending,is that fate/destiny calling. http://31.media.tumblr.com/581883db38739866f7a56edec0f4c419/tumblr_my2jbkiz1U1qblqapo1_500.jpg This doesn't really make me happy considering I'm routing for Hikari x Manaka. |

Love pentacle at its best! But there is no sololution to situation they are in. Maybe... separation after hibernation? Manaka's choice sure will be tough to live. |

such a feel episode! and once again Tsumugu managed to appear when things are getting tough.. but other than that I like all of them.. yes even Manaka.. shes stupid, dumb and childish but all of that are necessary for everyone to grow and develop.. shes like the sacrifice. and Hikari's development is really fantastic.. every episode hes growing. |

Aww, daang, Kaname had to ruin the atmosphere. So saddening, not knowing what's going to happen and how that affects them. Nice soundtracks as always ^^ |

The thing I look forward to most in this show is watching Hikari's character development. It's had to believe he used to be a bad-tempered whiny brat. Now he's so mature and makes decisions pretty wisely. He's becoming a more and more likable character as the show goes on ^_^ I feel bad for Kaname but he shouldn't have ruined the mood like that. Really hope Manaka becomes a loner. She doesn't deserve anyone with that attitude. Gets more and more annoying each episode. In a way, Hikari and Manaka might be foils of each other. |
