Ouch, that last few blows looked brutal. o.O Nice fight though, I'm loviing the animation. Of course Ippo won, but this fisherman was one tough guy. However, Ippo is still the best. :)
bonifide said: Ippo still trash i dont ever see him making world class with all the beatings he get. I never once saw him win with ease. I use to read the manga but stopped around 900 so i dont know how much better he got.
Takamura is the best thing in the series i hope we see a fight from him.
Except that's completely untrue.
If you've really read the manga up to chapter 900, then you obviously should have read the Karasawa fight, right? So then, you should also know that Ippo didn't just win, he totally shut down Karasawa, completely - as well as showing how he'd handle any other outboxers that actually tried challenging him. Ippo won that fight hands down and he won it easily too.
Seeing as you stopped reading around chapter 900, you also missed out on the Hisato fight, when Ippo one-hit KO's his opponent.
Frankly, there's hardly anyone in the series left to take on apart from world-rankers, I'd say he's ready to start taking them on.
Makunouchi needs new techniques, either an upgrade to the existing ones with unsuspected twists or literal new ones. I don't read the manga but if future fighters are as strong as this current challenger with their own strong fighting styles then we seriously need a character power/skill level up.
Anyway good fight on this episode.
You see there's no need to wonder where your god is,
Coz he's right here! ...and he's fresh out of mercy.
eminagnam said: It was intense. Way better than the last episode boxing-wise.
The series seems promising so far. Just wish they had an opponent from a wealthy family. Whenever I watch boxing shows, I wonder why boxers are almost always from poverty group or middle class family. Probably it's the reality of the boxing world, but since anime can go fictional, sometimes I'd like to see a boxer from an upper class family playing a key role.
i know what kind of character you're talking about, but it was shown that takamura is from a wealthy family :P
Behold of my awesomeness~
controversial and/or sensitive topics likely devolve into the same repetitive, derogatory, abusive, and harassing comments can no longer be posted.
But my feels.
Good fight. Though I expected his past of sea to save him? You know when MC is totally in pinch and then your shounen MC makes a comeback after a flashback lol. I just thought I'd get to see it since it was sea related theme
While it's possible to overcome the Dempsey Roll, it looks like the consequences that come with it even if you succeed is just not worth the risk. In this fight, Ippo clarified to the world that it's not just his signature move that's gotten him this far since his tenacity and determination is what really made him unbeatable!
It would've been nice if Ippo was able to tell Shimabukuro about his dad. It's certainly a story a fisherman like him would've wanted to hear.
am i wrong, or is this first time ippo won with 10 count over before his opponent got up? in classical ippo's match the opponent would got up and ippo would get power-up, something happened here lol.
i dunno if it was too fast, or rather too slow, but something here was bit strange. something about the match or the pace or the story itself. something here was odd. like the director have no experience whatsoever on hajime no ippo or something. hope it's just me.
at any rate, it feels like new challenger series with slights improvements. the OST is not as the first series but better than new challenger. only time could tell.
it was a cool episode to watch but i hope the series do not continue like this, want the original style and better fights aaand... more slice of ippo's life
I can't believe that Ippo's father backstory was wasted on such an unimpressive fight. I've always wanted to see Ippo squaring off against an infighter similar to him, but this wasn't really it.
Is a coach on this level really surprised that Shimabakuro took damage from the exchanges with his own boxer?
I think that the fishing/ocean puns are what made it the hardest for me to take this fight seriously.
