Meh pretty disappointing. Started out well then it went to garbage then the build up with silver king (or was it colourless can't remember) was good and the ending was bad. Animation budget was used after the 2nd (or 3rd) episode yata skating sequence. The main trio was pathetic. Atleast Shiro manned up when he realized who he is. Neko was probably most annoying and useless character I've witnessed in anime so far. Retarded blue filter. Homolust. I dunno why I even rated this 5/10

Why the hell did they kill the best character in the whole damn anime?
Mikoto better be back and alive in the next season, otherwise it's going to be lame. Besides, who would be suitable to become his succesor? Or is this just the end of the red clan if he really died?...

I agree with the people who claim that, now we know there'll be a 2nd season, the pacing isn't that horrible, if you consider the fact they took 1 episode for explanations and the last 3 or 4 episodes were pretty good [action, explanations, even something like a plot!] it's not all that bad. I could've done without the 3 episodes where Kuro aimlessly chased after Shiro but the last 2 episodes were pretty nice actually.

I hope they'll show the other 2 kings in the sequel and Shiro Weissman must've survived that hit (and I fear the Colorless King too), how can the anime go on without it's main character? I really do hope he'll stay as Weissman and won't go back to the super lame and useless "Shiro" though, I'll pray he drops the Shiro voice too, I like his Weissman one a lot more.

if i was remotely interested in the characters or plot i could have seen myself crying at that last bit, but i really wasn't it was just so underdeveloped in all aspects not at one part of this series was i gripped im trying to think what kept me from just leaving this one.... maybe the animation and the odd decent fight scenes thrown in there....

I actually enjoyed the last two eps alot more than i expected :D
jumped to an 8/10 from me. Still sucks that Mikoto is dead and won't be in S2 and theres only Blue and Gold king left -.-, Isano might probably turn out to be alive i guess.

Boring as shit .it could be good though, but the plot execution was really poor. the only reason i didn't dropped this show is because of those misleading cliffhangers that always makes me believe that the next episode is gonna be good, but no it sucks. so you know what FUCK THIS SHOW FOR WASTING MY TIME!!!!!

This was a nice, but sad, ending. Though if they developed the characters more, this might have turned out to be even more emotional for me, but I still liked it nonetheless. :( I still can't believe both Mikoto and Shiro/ Weismann are gone. Damn... what a way to end it. These last couple of episodes really turned up the heat from those plot intro episodes.

Ugh time to pray that Shiro/ Weissmann is still alive and somehow survived that blast; so he can still be the main character in season 2. I can imagine this anime going with new main chars next season though, but I sure hope it doesn't. I need moar Neko <3.

Hmm that was it? Okkkaayyy. He said he was immortal so maybe he's still around, the First King, the first, last and only Silver King. I'm a bit bothered about what he said about only a King can kill a King though so hmmmm.... >_< The other kings will probably reincarnate or somebody will show up later or whatever like Kuroh's last master (we finally get to see his face), the last Colorless King before the bat-shit crazy one who originally owned Shiro's body (or maybe that body was somebody else already).

I don't know if Neko made another illusion (if she did then it maybe it was an illusion after all), Kuroh crossed the bridge as a black dog bearing his sword with Neko's cat form bearing Shiro's umbrella. ^.^

Anyway the visuals were awesome. Some of the characters were great while the others were just meh and down right forgettable. I feel that there is still a lot more to the story so I wouldn't mind another season, a side-story OVA or a prequel, anything! XD 7/10

Sooo... I really think that Mikoto will be back in season 2. based on my perspective, Their Insignia floated towards the sky and i think it is forming the sword of damocles based on its shape. Plus, the one that Anna said in the end can be a proof that Mikoto will be alive on the next season.

Well... About Shiro, I dont know much but the thing is, When he said that only kings can kill another king Is only to make sure that Mikoto will kill him since The Colorless King is almost taking over his body. If Shiro will die by the hands of another king then probably when the Possesed Kukuri stabbed Shiro He should be dead since it was Colorless KING's doing

I'm one of the few who's more sad that shiro is gone ( well...for now ) than mikito. I doubt mikito is coming back, it would make shiro being the inmortal king seem kinda iffy if another king just pops back to life.

I like this site because each tell his opinion about everything: characters, music, series and more ...
I do not understand why you do not like animation, in my opinion is a good anime not perfect but good. but ... I do not know how to express myself about the last series'' k'' I really do not love this series because my favorite character dies. THE RED KING. I cried so much because Suoh Mikoto dies, it is not right why Mikoto dies, why not another character dies. Of course this is my opinion about it.
if will be the second season I really want to participate Mikoto. very nice please, Mikoto does not die. NO BLOOD! NO BOONE! NO ASHES!

Loved this series, can't wait for the second season to start airing! I really want to know more about the past stuff, especially the main people in Homra. Sorta dissapointed that was left out but I'm glad to see that there is a manga and some novels to entertain myself with for now. I am sad that Mikoto died. I imagine that means not only will he now be gone but so will the characters surrounding him. The relationship between Mikoto and Munakata intrigued me. I was hoping that Munakata was runnining over to save Mikoto at the end.. not skewer him through lol. I am interested if this means there will be a new red king now. Just to put it out there, my fav character so far is Kuro. lol I could say more though I'm quite sure no one reads these. Plus I am on an Xbox typing this which isn't fun :3

Overall, I gave this season a 7/10.

I'll keep watching for the 2nd season, but eh.. I give it a 6.
Overall it was watchable and good, but there were a lot of things I didn't like about it. Especially since I spent a good amount of the time confused/frustrated with not knowing somethings that could've been explained better. I did like the characters and some of the music though, and I found the comedy funny, if not some of it oddly placed.

Didn't particularly like the ending.. For a second I thought it was a huge cliff hanger until the second season >< I have a feeling that both Suoh Mikoto and Shiro will return.. maybe not in their old bodies though.
Also didn't really see how Suoh Mikoto was such a great king or why so many people are in love with his character for a reason other than his looks and coolness, even though I tried to look at it with open eyes.

So... Now that Mikoto Suoh died did all the HOMRA clansman loose their powers? That would really suck cus Misaki Yata is one of my favourite characters and I guess that if all the red clansman don't have powers anymore, they won't really be seen in the next season. Or maybe they will get a new king? (I really hope so)

No, the blue clans old king died and for 10 years they were kingless and still had there powers until munakata came, the reds should still have their power.

Man, this was a great ending episode. The only thing I hate about it is that it cuts off the possibility for continuation and while that's what makes it worth it, I like so much the K universe and atmosphere I want to see more ;__;

MIKOTO! NO BLOOD! NO BONE! NO ASH!

1. Characters. +1. While many say that the characters in this anime are underdeveloped or not developed at all, I think that they are just great, and there are really few I couldn't stand. In the very least, the best characters for me were(are) Mikoto, Reisi, Tatara, Izumo, Saruhiko and somewhat - Misaki. While many characters have kinda some mystery around them, that's what makes them even more charismatic imo.
2. Atmosphere. +1. It was a really well developed one - urban, futuristic and with superpowers - I myself couldn't ask for more ^^ .
3. OST. +1. The ED was decent/good, but what I like more about the OST was one of the background themes.
4. Animation. +1. Undisputedly one of the best animation qualities ever, and I'm a sucker for such. The superpowers were well-animated too.
5. Background story. +1. If we take all the characters' backgrounds combined for background story, I can score it good, because I liked the vague backgrounds that were still satisfying enough imo. Otherwise, the actual background wasn't even close to satisfying/good one xD
6. Storyline. +1. Even though there were more than enough filler-ish moments, there indeed was a plot(despite what people say) but you just have to watch the anime to the very last episode to confirm this. The ending is actually what makes the story something in the end, in my opinion.
7. Ending. +1. One of the very few really decisive endings in this kind of animes imo. I didn't really expect for either side to win at the end, because I'm already used to "both sides are equal and there are no losers so bot sides' fans are happy". Yeah, it's an ending that seemingly crushes possibility for continuation, which is sad, but still it's such a rare occasion to spectate something like this... I really like it for this. And it doesn't make you feel like you've watched 12 episodes to now for no purpose in the end.
8. Fight scenes. +1. Imo they were awesome, there were both hand-to-hand combat and superpowers involved, and the fight between Mikoto and Reisi was great. No OP/imba power levels involved, just pure awesomeness.
9. Drama. +1. Well, it's actually best in the ending episode, but there is some decent drama even before then - Tatara's death, Saruhiko's betrayal and even the solitariness felt by the Kings. This anime was actually very dramatic and kind of dark in the end.
10. Overall affect. +1. I liked watching this anime even when there was nothing happening, no plot or something - it was just enjoyable by itself. The atmosphere, the mysterious characters... and everything else combined made a very good anime in the end.

Overall score: 10/10.

The underdeveloped of the Kings actually serves the story; it brings the audience to a remove similar to what the rest of the characters feel.

Seri and Fushimi's little exchange mid-e13 is most revealing of this:
"I can't stand people with big hearts. All they do is look down on you... ..."
"You may be right. Maybe that's why they're only attracted to other kings."

This remove on the characters' part is demonstrated throughout the series.

The action, when the focus is on Homra or Scepter4, generally centers on the Vassals. Often times, and with Homra especially (with their leader, Suoh, also being the less characterized one) the Vassals seem to operate autonomously from their leader, but in a way that tries to anticipate said leader's wishes without direct input. The Vassals also often pay great respect to their King, but only briefly or loosely allude to the incidents in which the King earned said respect.

By the end of the series, though, we see the reason for this: The story isn't about the kings at all. The kings are MacGuffins. Their powers are merely the phlebotinum that drives the universe. They put on a pretty light show or two, but they're really just enablers.

The story is really about the effect of the Kings on the people around them, and the dichotomy of the situation when compared against how it affects the Kings themselves.

Scepter4's crew wholeheartedly rallies not behind mere justice, but the justice their King espouses. Homra's case makes it more even more evident in episode 13; Suoh, in gathering Vassals for Homra, he actually picked up a bunch of hoodlums and downtrodden and provided them with friendship, with a group that will take them. And, even with his death, even if they lose their powers, they will maintain a bond that is stronger than blood. They're family. They're home. (Interesting parallel to Shiro "finding home" mid-series, but I digress.)

And yet, through all of this, the Kings are the loneliest people in the world. They never really looked down at everyone else, but instead cared a lot for them. Though, they could never relate to them wholly, not really -- having surpassing power, rivalries, and massive responsibilities saw to that. And really, calling them Kings is very appropriate from this standpoint.

On a tangential note, looking back, Suoh's death was basically guaranteed and necessary. It was more or less alluded to as inevitable throughout the series; he was walking a knife's edge the whole time, and there's no way to bring him back from the threshold, only to stop him from crossing over. Short of some Deus Ex Machina shenanigans, there's no real way the author could have avoided this; and I honestly am glad it wasn't resorted to. In terms of the ending, Suoh's death also really had to have happened just to drive the point home that the series was about the social implications of the Sanctum powers, and not so much the Kings as specific people.

And maybe that's where the series fell apart. Weismann's WWII experiments didn't really get much focus, though it felt like it was thematically central to the series. The entire show sort of existed on a sense of immediacy almost reminiscent of classic cyberpunk; constantly there are players making moves, and the setting is constantly on the cusp of something great, but with nothing really precipitous through almost the entire telling of the story. Also, both as a character and as a plot hook, Shiro thoroughly failed to anchor the show enough for many to want to follow through to the conclusion, yet took up a lot of screen time -- but I guess that's what happens when you throw a tabula rasa into a somewhat eclectic series like this. The result is that the plot was too slow or too lost to attract some viewers, and many of the characters ended up feeling insubstantial.

Overall, it was a pretty good series. What most stood out was the animation. Though it did tend toward average later, the cuts, the colors, the fight choreography, etc, showcased in the first few episodes were exquisite.

I for one can't wait to see what Season 2 brings.

I plowed through this anime in short order, yay 13 eps... It had me confused a lot for a while, but that was the point with K7 and his shenanigans. I know there is a S2 coming, and I assume since his last words to Kuro were about being immortal, Shiro will be back. As for the reds, since K3 died, not sure there, don't know about the "kinging" process to make a guess there. And maybe we will finally see K5 and K6.

On the whole, thoroughly enjoyed and awaiting S2!

Anime was great, one of the best ones I have seen. This season was interesting and not too long to get boring (Great example how too long anime can be boring is One Piece). The end of season 1st was quite unexpected, was hoping for Red and Silver kings to survive. The way 13th episode ended was something you would not expect to happen and I think It gave this anime a great plus and made it extraordinary. As a person who as seen a lot of anime on my free time I would give this one 10/10

There will be sequel to this anime it was confirmed that the green light has been lit for it.
Proof: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-12-27/k-anime-gets-sequel-green-lit

I think there are few theories of what will happen in next season:

1. Shiro aka Silver king survived, why ? because he is immortal king that's why. Only the Colorless and Red kings died. Both Red and Colorless king powers will be given to someone else by sort of being reincarnated, as happened before with previous Colorless king.
1.1 Possibility: Silver king will continue studying the Dresden Slate and his immortality, with a hope of bringing his sister back to life.
1.2 Shiro will face Green, Black and the other kings, probably someone of them will want to use Dresden Slate for the bad purposes and to become the God.
2. Silver, Red and Colorless king survived thanks to Silver kings immortal power or something like that.
2.1 Possible that they lost their powers and will be searching for a way to get them back.
3. Silver, Red and Colorless kings died, yet they will reincarnate to someone using that gigantic stone tablet aka Dresden Slate.
3.1 There is a possibility that in the first episode of season 2 they will be standing near the Dresden Slate and wonder what happen. They will get explanation of what that thing is and how it works.
4. They will skip all the explanations and start a mini season about Kuroh Yatogami and his history.

I'm dying to know how the new season starts and what will happen ^_^

That was awesome. I was hoping shiro would go apeshit on all the kings but it was still cool.
I hope there's another season after the movie.

Damn, two kings dead, the writers sure had balls to kill Mikoto, I thought Shiro would try to save him but that didn't happen, I wonder what that blue light was.

I also thought Shiro would try to save him, he promised, but that never happend. I hope there's some catch and he just didn't sacrifice Mikoto like that since he knew it will kill him. It would be better if he let Munakata kill him, the same effect, different outcome - Reisi wouldn't have died...

K was an okay anime. I heard the animation was good but I didn't really like it. The story was regular. The characters where under par in my opinion. The audio was good. I enjoyed it, which is the most important. 6/10
