----------------------------------------
Princess Serenity wants Marika and her crew to help her find a golden ghost ship. In the meantime they keep Serenity close by as a student at Marika's school, and Serenity is adored by all the other students. Eventually a ship from Serenity's fleet arrives in their system with information about the golden ghost ship, but when they rendezvous they find out that the ship is being engaged by other Serenity ships. It appears Serenity has factions within the kingdom.

On another note, I loved watching Marika and Serenity after Misa's crazy driving.

I liked the look of Serenity and Marika's faces when they were at the airport after Misa's deadly driving, Misa is the new Yukari.

Marika might end up in the middle of a complicated situation with the two factions of Serenity's Kingdom and I wonder what's in the ghost ship that makes Serenity want to see it.

So the first half seems like a throwaway part of the episode. Excessive introductions and mingling dialogue that can easily be taken out and you wouldn't be missing much. Just like parts of episode 3, 4, and 7. We also need to see Marika's motivations for helping her besides her obligation as a protagonist. Some comments on greed, or how her kingdom could affect Morningstar, or SOMETHING. And why is this ghost ship so important?

We'll never escape Naboo.

The homage is confirmed and her hair is different in the novel

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2012-02-25/bodacious-space-pirates-gives-princess-serenity-odango-hair

The studio wanted to give her the Sailor Moon look.

So much homage...I also noted the "Harold Lloyd" insurance company. Who knew that silent movie stars ended up in the insurance business?

On a more sinister note, I can actually think of a business case for insurance companies hiring pirates--a little bit of risk helps keep people paying premiums, and by hiring the pirates the insurance companies can manage their level of payout. Sort of like having both the fire department and the arsonists on your payroll.

And it seems obvious that the government of Morningstar is using the pirates for clandestine security missions and black ops. Plausible deniability at its finest--"honest, it wasn't us, it was those pesky pirates..."

RAAAAWR!
*tires screeching*

I liked this episode better than the last. The Princess is mighty cute (and I quickly made the sailor-moon connection... the hairdo and 'serenity', just too obvious.

Also, the Pirates as black ops forces for the government while there is no war actually makes sense. I like that.
And I'm looking forward to next episode... btw, I'll have to reduce my rating for this anime by one when it's over, due to the annoying cliffhangers in EVERY EPISODE *hates*

how did she boarded their ship in such an outfit?! with that bells or whatever was making those sounds
and it's clean :)
but she is likable and somehow not typical princess - scene in car was great

so it seems that pirates next to being entertainers serve also as support for local fleet
somehow logical - they are faster, if there are some troubles they are expendable and give time to mobilize troops
plus it looks like that introduction part is over and actual plot starts - nice :)

ahh Schnitzer... so cute :)

Because racketeering is fun.

In all seriousness, however, I'm not totally sure what happened at the end, there. Mayhaps it's the fact that I'm watching this at 1 in the morning, but I couldn't figure out what the dogfight was supposed to signify...

Excessive introductions? This is episode 8 and it is the very time the entire crew has been properly introduced.

Ok maybe it went a little long but maybe they were making up for being so late.

They could have easily avoided this by narrating them in Episode 6's training montage. "This is our weapons officer; he'll teach you everything about combat." *scene of cyborg judo* "This is our electronics expert" *scene of Marika frantically typing with Coorie*

Seems like there are lots of troubles in the Serenity Royal Palace.
My guess is that they send of the princess the a privateers vessel to keep her save from harm tho the fleet which just formed before them could suggest that who ever wants to harm the princess has found her.
Things look pretty interesting and i can't wait to see the conclusion of the next episode.

Well, the Silver Millennium is in fact a space kingdom.

Sailor Moon (Serenity) is in fact an alien princess...

And there I thought I'd be the only one who thought about Sailor Moon :-P Whatever, I never excelled at catching references anyway...

The princess actually seems to be a nice girl. I was doubting her until the end of this episode and was a bit startled that Marika trusted her so quickly, but I'm pretty positive that she won't stab them in their backs now ^^ And being her must really suck. All those people constantly crowding her only because of her status must be annoying and tiresome - and it makes her lonely, because she can't get or keep in touch with any real friends.

I loved the scene with Marika and the princess in the car, too. And Schnitzer being shy was simply priceless. Never judge a book by it's cover :-)

I think this is where we need to see Marika act more like a captain weighing decisions rather than some designated heroine who HAS to help the cute princess out. She doesn't even ask what the ship does, where it might be, why it's important, how much she's paying out etc. A private convo with the crew would be nice.

"Marching into the detention block isn't what I had in mind!"
...
"...She's rich."
"Rich?"
"Rich. Powerful. Look, if you found the ship for her...well...more wealth than YOU can imagine!"

Someone needs to make fanart of Schnitzer being led by Chiaki and Marika into the detention lobby...and well, you know what happens.

"Just two cute schoolgirls touring your fine facility. We're fine here; um uh, how are YOU?"

When i watched the first episode, in the intro sequence, i saw a glimpse of a girl who looked like princess serenity from sailor moon. and have been expecting her ever since.
Now she appears, and she actually is a homage to princess serenity/sailor moon.
Since sailor moon is one of my favorite anime's i was very pleased with it.
Love mouretsu pirates so far, marika is an awesome character, and looking forward to more marika/gruier friendship :D.

Ok now this is getting interesting, a real conflict arising. Theres multiple fractions in the Serenity royalty, :o I like this kind of plot. Looks to me like this is some sort of rebellion or something similar like that. Princess Gruier is a pretty likable character and cute too lol.

Ok. It seems that there's some heavy story coming up after a lot of training and preparation. Nice.

What I still want to know is what the Princess' connection to Marika's dad is.

Oh, and I missed Chiaki-chan.
