@-daijoubu- Legend of the Galactic Heroes has been on my personal watch list since I started watching anime on a regular basis, but I consider it an "aniem" due to it being so fking long (I obv understand it's an OVA, but I am approaching it on the percpective you correctly interpreted xd).

Fortunately enough, it has gotten a big fandom requesting it's sequel. FYI, same fandom has made a lot of Dojinshis and you can find most of them online (and I have to admit they are not half bad especially if you are that immidate with the series ;) no pun intended xd )

I can't really see its fandom big, but it's subjective. For all I know, I see Higurashi being mentioned when talking about good anime, but I can't really see alot of people praising how good the show is. For sure though, I haven't really looked up doujinshi for it (I don't even know where, I don't know much about doujinshis).
