An episode about restoring Akane's memories...because of Shampoo's magic. Shampoo is kind of playing blackmail in this episode as she had the cure. Honestly, always felt like Shampoo would pull something like this given her personality. Ranma had the right to be pissed off and this had the cheeky humor as usual. Pretty fun classy show from start to finish imo. Season 2 announced https://twitter.com/ranma_pr/status/1870505509591331063 |

I mean we get it, so can we please stop these same reminders every episode reminding us about how Ranma is two in one? I mean they didn’t do it this time and it’s the last episode as well, but I actually hope they’d stop in the next cour. Btw, if anything, I’d say the whole plot of Akane losing her memories only of Ranma was one clever thing to have as the finale. The ever old way of self-realization kicking in and realizing how much “I love them” is the oldest trick in the book, but then again, this an old series as well lol. Kinda hilarious though how Akane got her memory back... guess that particular phrase of Ranma calling her not cute has been engraved at some deep part of her consciousness, such that it even gets your memory back lol. Fucker Ryouga again getting close to 5 mins of screen time wasn’t at all needed, but yeah, we’ve been suffering, and it doesn’t even feel like they want to end our suffering anytime soon, so yeah, it sucks but nothing can one do. Felt bad for Shampoo but that was inevitable. She would've got to know that one of these days anyway. Now yeah, if anything, this series was less annoying than urusei yatsura, but then again, we got some 40 odd episodes there, and have just got 12 here till now, so that particular aspect could change, but still, for now it is… less annoying. This didn't feel like a last episode or something at all lol btw. |

God this whole thing is so fucking annoying. Like if she's going to have amnesia at least make it so it's that Akane has forgotten everyone at least. Not JUST Ranma. Everytime she asks "WHo'S RaNmA" I get annoyed with Ranma. Whatever man, Ranma should just stick with best girl Shampoo at this point because my godddd that part where she puts the shampoo in between her( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) But yeah, killing the girl Ranma was only inevitable to be Shampoo's request. So ofc, in typical fashion of this show, people just want to kill someone for whatever reason, this time being Ranma, and just straight up starting beating on bro. And then Akane hits him with something worse than a punch, and "BAKAAAA~" and slaps him. At least though, Ranma tells Shampoo the truth about the whole thin with him being the female Ranma, though, didn't expect her to start crying.... :( Best girl cries I cry :((((( But yeah, that's a wrap for the first season of this at least. Really did enjoy this a lot. Will be looking forward to the second season, as this really didn't feel like a conclusive end. Just hope it doesn't get leaked that time around xD |

the beginning intro was normal (no special tricks), until seeing female main guy is mermaid. main girl waking up forgetting main guy. pig guy not helping, though. father was the one who saw it. washing hair that helps amnesia. her body remembers, when chinese girl arrived. needing different shampoo, but doctor ripped book w. the bland. main guy vs. chinese girl over that shampoo, and her wish to kill female main guy dead. "not cute" making her remembered and no need that shampoo anymore. then telling her his identity. she left crying. second season announced. (weird to end first season there, though) (Edit w. article link) https://natalie.mu/comic/news/604849 |

MAPPA outdid themselves with this remake and reliving Takahashi sensei’s growth in real time, going from UY to Ranma is so dope. Much better story already. Hard to believe this was a season ender though, felt like we’d still have an episode next week or something with that ending!! Season 2 can’t come soon enough. Like I said last week, Akane’s memory loss helped Ranma realise how important she is to him, but making it so it was only his memory that she lost was extra cruel. No matter how tough he acts, that had to hurt. Shampoo having the cure the whole time and not saying nothing is killing me tho 😂 mf like me is definitely just taking the bottle from her in that roof scene, but for all his martial arts training, Ranma still inexperienced with girls. I like how Akane got her memory back with Ranma playfully teasing her with the “you’re not cute” shit. Just shows how important he is to her that she could never really forget him and that those words are so special they’re imprinted on her soul. No magic or memory loss drink could ever take that away from her. Finally cat’s out the bag with Shampoo learning Ranma is a girl too. How she never put 2 and 2 together is a little mind boggling, but let’s just assume those Chinese Amazon schools weren’t the best lmao. Hell of a cliffhanger to leave off on! No way Ranma lets her leave. But we have to wait till next year to see him stop her. Felt more like a weekly episode than a season finale, but here’s to hopefully many many more Ranma episodes because I am so in love with this show! |

It was some very specific amnesia as Akane's memories of Ranma vanished. Had she forgotten about P-Chan too, Ryoga would've had a chance to tell her without her knowing of the deception. Shampoo literally brainwashed Akane with her namesake substance. Akane still reflexively gets jealous when Shampoo comes for her airen. Genma recognizes the technique as one his master also knows. Dr. Tofu has the cure in a book but tears it up as soon as his crush Kasumi enters the room. This leaves Ranma no choice but to go all the way to China, but Shampoo has the antidote. Thinking she's got Ranma trapped as he has to reach into her cleavage to retrieve it, he agrees to grant her one wish in exchange. Not knowing that the two Ranmas are in fact one, she wishes for boy Ranma to kill girl Ranma, but he haggles for half-dead. Ryoga ain't strong enough so Genma and Sou beat him to a pulp until Akane arrives. Calling her the insults he's always thrown at her, he awakens deep memories that couldn't be erased. With the deal for the antidote shampoo pointless, it's time for Ranma to reveal he's also girl Ranma with a twist that would drive Shampoo off for sure; boy Ranma was Shampoo's mortal enemy, girl Ranma's cover. |

Oh wow, surprised to see this season end already. Thought we would get 2 consecutive cours. Well, it's still already kn production, so there not really a breather. If there's one studio deserving a lighter workload it's MAPPA. They already got so many titles on their plate. Brutal, but that was the best way to get rid of Shampoo...for now. Really enjoying this remake. Thankfully one of the better ones in recent years that keeps the spirit of the OG. They kept the right episodes and cut the fatty parts. |

Akane got amnesia and Ranma was trying his best to get her memory back using different funny methods. LOL. It was very funny seeing him try those things. Some very cute moments as Akane kept asking Ranma, who is he? But, Shampoo's tears were so sad when Ranma lied to her about being a woman actually and the man form is temporary. She's so cute and seeing tears in her eyes is painful. I want my Shampoo back. AHHHH. But, gotta wait for the Second season to find that out. Really enjoyable 1st season. Great remake from MAPPA and the staff involved. It was very cute and funny. |

Is Soun actually the funniest character? It seems every scene he is in I can't help but bust laughing. Interesting method of recovering memories, just insult the victim like you used to until she recovers. LOL. Shampoo knows the truth, but can not kill Ranma, and goes back to China... But she will return... and with some company. So glad second season has been announced already, I'm so happy the remake is doing well. Can't wait to see the characters that are left to show up. |

Ok, mermaid Ranma caught me off-guard. That was so random lol. Shampoo using a shampoo to make Akane forget Ranma is funny. I wouldn't be surprised if Takahashi named the character Shampoo just to make this joke. Amnesia Akane was (thankfully) short-lived. It's funny how she remembered Ranma through his insults though. Maybe she actually likes being called uncute...? Hoo boy. Ranma might've saved his girl (and his girl body) but he still broke another girl's heart through that. He definitely regrets it. I really like how Remake Shampoo is much cuter and gives off less murderous vibes than the original. Like when Ranma grabs Shampoo in the OG it seemed like it was a trap. Whereas in the Remake it seems like she was genuinely startled by Ranma suddenly grabbing her. She also insults and mocks Ranma more often in the OG. Season 2 being confirmed is nothing surprising. I am more surprised that they didn't announce the date for it. I was expecting it to air right in the next season. But the fact that it's called "Season 2" and not "Season 1 Part 2" suggests that it'll probably skip the next season or two. I'm not a huge fan of that but it is what it is. I guess we'll learn more on January 1. |

Thus ends the first cour of Ranma ½, the same day the second one is officially announced to be in the works. It's been an incredible manga adaptation, faithful to the material but willing to strengthen the Rankane dynamic by borrowing from later scenes. Although the '90s anime still has a place in my heart, I gotta say, the remake is on pace to be the ultimate adaptation - certainly will be if Mappa is allowed to go all the way. As it pertains to the episode specifically, it was hilarious and adorable. Loved to see Ranma's unwavering determination to find the cure for Akane's amnesia, and Akane's irremediable jealousy when Shampoo jumps Ranma, even though she doesn't even remember him. Their love that transcends memories! Of course, everyone else was a clown, but that's how we roll in Rumic works. I may not ship Shampoo with Ranma but she's nonetheless a great adversarial character, charming & beautiful while bringing more of that crazed energy to the scene. Even Genma apparently hit it off with her at work... that guy doesn't care that she tried to kill him and Ranma or that she now poses a threat to the Saotome-Gendo engagement as long as he can be a silly panda. As for Ryoga - lol. Maybe he didn't see what Shampoo did to Akane exactly, but he got quite a view alright. And I don't want to see anyone argue that he's stronger than Ranma, Ranma beat him up without even wanting to do so! Foolish pig It's a nice flip on romantic amnesia stories that Ranma got Akane to remember, not because of a declaration of love or anything wholesome, but because he constantly called her uncute. But at the same time, they're aware to some extent that it's just childish teasing to obscure their real feelings, they don't mean it, it's their actions that matter - exactly why Akane smiled fondly just after hitting Ranma. He calls her uncute, but so what? He was also about to swim across an OCEAN, and let their parents beat him to a pulp, just to get her cured. Their love transcends pain! or whatever Finally, Shampoo learns the truth and can't handle it. Oh well, don't worry, I'm sure she'll get over it... Can't wait to see cour 2 |

Fight to death fight with honour play dirty and give your rival amnesia then dangle the cure to blackmail inorder to do job you can't do in million years. Yup absolutely not a fan of shamPOO. And people hate Ryouga, atleast he isn't ahole and still helps Ranma. Way better character. Atleast this time Ranma grown some spine and actually did what was necessary. He gave his best efforts to recover Akane's memory of him and ready to go to China again and getting beat up. Well good for everyone good ol power of love and silly jabs of "You really aren't cute" is enough to make Akane remember about Ranma. Good to see how much both cared for eachother. Although not a lot but some genuine progress was made by two. Well didn't really cared about Shampoo's departure, she will come back again surely. For now good riddance. Not cute plain tsundere>> I hoped for more but Mappa did a fine job. From someone who never watched the original it was very enjoyable and was better than expected. Romance, comedy, action all were good. Pls bring S2 asap. 8.3/10 |

Apparently the Kiss of Death allows for other people to kill the target for you, which kinda feels like it goes against the very threat of death in the first place. But hey, that's not the first thing in this series that wouldn't make a whole lot of sense, so it's not worth thinking about too much. 8/10 season, looking forward to more! |

Poor Shampoo lol. A rather weird place to end the season, but at least the sequel is confirmed, so I'll take it. Overall, this was a fun remake. This series is a lot more fun than I'd remembered. A lot of ridiculous situations, but the humor is great. Ranma definitely carries the show for me, he's very chill and charming. Akane is tolerable. I'm definitely not a fan of characters who hit the guy so often, but admittedly Ranma sometimes deserves it. I wasn't a fan of some of the antagonists - in particular, the skating duo were kinda annoying and the skating match felt dragged out. Also, it was getting a bit tiring how there were new characters showing up to challenge the main characters every other episode. I hope the formula changes up a bit in the next season. And Ryouga was sadly a lot more annoying of a character than I'd remembered. But ultimately, this was a very fun watch and definitely one of my favorite shows this season. A solid 7/10 anime for me. |

And Shampoo will never appear in Ranma 1/2 again. That's the last time we'll ever see her. That's why she said "farewell". Also, yay, Shampoo hanging upside down! I was waiting for that moment. Anyway, first of all, I'm disappointed that this season was only 12 episodes. Was hoping it would at least be 24 episodes. Secondly, let's compare the episode and chapter equivalent of the first 12 episodes of Urusei Yatsura (2022) and Ranma 1/2 (2024): Urusei Yatsura (2022): Ep 01 > ch 001 + 005 Ep 02 > ch 004 + 015 Ep 03 > ch 022 + 025 + 030 Ep 04 > ch 136, 137, 138 Ep 05 > ch 216 + 026 Ep 06 > ch 008 + 010 + 061 Ep 07 > ch 042 + 086 + 091 Ep 08 > ch 055 + 056 + 068 Ep 09 > ch 006 + 007 + 110 Ep 10 > ch 051 + 034 Ep 11 > ch 121 + 114 + 163 Ep 12 > ch 063 + 065 Ranma 1/2 (2024): Ep 01 > ch 01 + 02 Ep 02 > ch 03, 04, 05 Ep 03 > ch 06, 07, 08, 09 Ep 04 > ch 10, 11, 12, 13 Ep 05 > ch 13, 14, 15, 16 Ep 06 > ch 17, 18, 19 Ep 07 > ch 20, 21, 22 Ep 08 > ch 23, 24, 25 Ep 09 > ch 26, 27, 28 Ep 10 > ch 29, 30, 31 Ep 11 > ch 32 + 33 Ep 12 > ch 34, 35, 36 Ranma 1/2 remake got the "adapt everything" treatment, at least so far, adapting chapters in the correct order and not skipping any. While Urusei Yatsura remake just adapted bits and pieces of the manga chapters randomly. I was afraid that Ranma 1/2 remake was going to just adapt chapters randomly too, and maybe skip some, but so far, it seems to be good, but the events after this episode is where things start to get episodic and self-contained. Season 2 is on the way, so we'll see if they continue to do a good job. |

Oh no, I had no idea it was only going to be 12 episodes, I assumed it was going to be at least 24, at the very least S2 got confirmed immediately, the show was as enjoyable as ever, Ranma is surprisingly cute those few moments he lets his guard down, I still miss the fanservice but what can you do about it, I'm surprised how well these anime remakes have been considering it's been a total failure with movies and with games it is a 50/50. |

Huh, so there really was just one cour, I guess the UY remake had me thinking this would be the same but nope lol, this makes it not even a fraction of the size of the original show, but with Season 2 announced right away we at least know there’s more coming. For now we have Shampoo’s introductory arc finale at least, it was a fun episode as usual, I remember how silly the hair treatment attack was and it’s just as silly here, very fitting for the character named Shampoo lol. And although it seemed like all hope was lost when Tofu Sensei ripped the answer to shreds, Ranma managed to bring Akane’s memory back with his classic insults, pretty sweet but also really dumb when you consider the words used lol, it’s just a shame the bit I really liked in the OG where Genma was using a recording setup to repeat Ranma’s words was not in the remake, oh well. And poor Shampoo finally discovered the truth of the two Ranmas, but the sight of a crying Shampoo really struck Ranma, definitely upsetting to see but Ranma probably won’t feel bad for long, and this is where the remake left us for now. And that was the remake of Ranma 1/2 so far, I gotta say they did a really good job with it, it may be missing some good additions the original anime added but I think the faithfulness to the manga is gonna make the remake the better version overall in the long run, I just finished the OG show and it starts to have a lot of problems in the later stages, and a lot of it was probably anime original filler, UY had some truly great filler a lot of the time but Ranma 1/2 unfortunately didn’t imo, some were great but there were many that were pretty average and sometimes bad. But I can safely say this series is in good hands with MAPPA, fantastic art and animation throughout, and VAs are as great as ever, both new and returning. Great choice of OP and ED too, not quite as iconic as the original 80s music (that goes for the ost too) but they are still damn great song with very nice visuals. Can’t wait for Season 2 to come, my best girl hasn’t even appeared yet not counting Nabiki lol. |

Funny hopw Shampoo's technique was using shampoo itself for the memory manipulation. But anyways, what this episode showed most of all was not only how much Ranma cares for Akane but also how brief Shampoo's presence was for that season finale to have more impact. Overall the season had been nailing it in the romantic side at least more than Urusei Yatsura for instance, but this last bit came off as bittersweet. At least we're having a continuation probably next year so here's for another high quality opening and ending sequence, action and crazy character in the style of Rumiro Takahashi. |

@Kdekalcio One dub still has her broken grammar - the German one. She constantly uses plural when she talks about herself and sometimes structures her sentences a bit like master Yoda. Very cute and normal for people who start learning German. In general, I'm very positively surprised how the German dub is 99 % the same as it was in the old anime. Only male Ranma got a new voice actor (sadly his previous one passed away way too early) but the new guy sounds really, really good, he did an amazing job. And I think Kunou sounded different, but I might be mistaken there. I also think the German translation is closer to the original Japanese version. I've heard they changed a line about male Ranma actually hating his female form in the English dub (while fighting Ryoga, he get's really offended when he gets called a girl) and toning it done to only a random fashion comment? Correct me if I'm wrong on this one please. 10/10 for me, there was nothing I disliked in this version. (I only wonder if MAL should remove the Ecchi tag, since this version is extremely tame compared to the old anime. People might avoid the new version because of this tag, preventing it from getting a bigger audience.) |
