Welp, after all the buildup, the mind games, etc, we're finally reaching the peak of the feud between Lawrence and Amati.

Lawrence knows what's at stake and he displays a great aura of confidence. Holo's reunion with Lawrence was very interesting and dynamic. If anything, this season really captures their personal and professional relationship. She even bit him! Marked him like her territory LOL

Life literally started flashing before Lawrence’s eyes when he saw prices making a new high every next minute… I mean who can blame him as well. Guy went from asking normal people to alchemists of all people just so he could’ve caused a stir in the market, but nah, trading has never been this easy lol. Neither back in the day nor in the present. Add the misery which Diana's informant brought with her…

… though that’s what made it worth it. The look on Amati’s face when Holo out of nowhere kind of crashed the entire market in itself was totally it. I mean of course she has planned it as well since the start, it ain’t just Lawrence who was getting help from Diana after all lol. Amati should’ve faced hundred other consequences as well for getting between Holo and Lawrence, but I mean let’s leave it at. They are happy at the end of the day and have reconciled, so glad just with that:) Still this arc was certainly something lol. Good it’s over xD

Amati pack in the air rn this gas or what? Not gonna sit here and pretend that I understood everything that happened in this trade war with Amati and Lawrence, but I do know it’s satisfying as hell to see Amati’s arrogant smirk wiped off his face and him realising he lost. Plus mommy and daddy made up 😭 they’re so cute

S/O to the biggest little bro Lant, he was awesome and gave Lawrence the push he needed to not get discouraged and keep fighting to the end even when it seemed like Amati had won. Sometimes Lawrence just need a good slap.

That playful punch and hug Holo gave Lawrence at the market was sooo cute, you can tell how much she missed him. Love how even when they link back up at the Inn after everything’s settled she doesn’t just want him to apologise, but to know what he’s apologising for. When your girl finally take you back type shit 😂

“What am I to you” Holo’s face.. she’s so cute I can’t. 😩 Lawrence may not have a direct answer to that, but he now realises how important Holo is to him and hopefully he’ll be a lot more considerate going forward.

Seems like my theory about the alchemist not being human was right, and Lawrence question about gods and humans getting together hit close to home. Poor thing :/

Happy my fave couple are back together. Can’t wait to see how volume 4 goes

The price you pay for trying to steal another man's women is deadly indeed. Fuck you Fermi. Very glad this arc has ended, won't have to deal with seeing/hearing about him any longer. This arc is where I remember dropping the OG Spice and Wolf. The whole fool's gold thing was pretty stupid to me back then.

IDK if they changed something, but I found this version's more enjoyable and not dropable, I guess? Holo definitely makes the episode much better, and it’s no surprise that she was the one who bought the pyrite, leading them to reunite. It’s really refreshing to see them together again, even though Lawrence still hasn’t said the special words.

Now, with this arc finally over, after a long and hard 15 years, EXACT mind you, we're finally getting the well deserved and due new content, with the Pagan Gods arc.

The fight to purchase and sell pyrite begins between Lawrence and Amati in the merchant center, though it begets both confidence and perseverance on his part to trust that Diana and Holo have something in plan to offset the upset in prices. To that extent, Marc's assistant Lant does the background work while Lawrence waits for the right time to crash the market with Diana's representative, and her negotiation did not help things much to appease his work. That's the final straw for him, and it tests the limits of Lawrence being a merchant who knows how to navigate even the roughest seas, with Holo coming in clutch to finally end the charade of the bet, winning 1000 coins but almost crashing by losing in credit, both financially and psychologically.

Even Lawrence had a sobering lesson in this since Holo had a part to orchestrate the entire ego fest, to test their bonds and friendship accumulated all this while, always being too fixated on his business and forgetting all about the Wise Wolf at times. Her ending up being the pyrite buyer from Diana is of obvious intent to rile Lawrence into his own thinking and individual dependence upon himself, and the part about being a couple (even going as far as for Holo to mark Lawrence with her bite), she still really meant to go back to Yoitsu. And with the festivities, Amati's arc is brought to an end, finishing Volume 3 of the LN.

With the remainder dedicated to the skipped adaptation of Volume 4 of the LN, the journey to find home continues.

Ha, that's what you deserve Amati, mind your own business next time.

Not a fan of the cause for this whole feud since it was kinda dumb from Lawrence, but it was still interesting to follow with a good conclusion. Characters like Lant, Marc, Batos were a big help to Lawrence and of course Diana, wouldn't mind if she appeared later on again.

The price of pyrite sure is rising at quite the rate. Its unfortunate that Diana's efforts failed. Every merchant needs a partner thats able to keep them on the right path. In the end im glad that Amati didn't lose that much to the point where he'll be ruined. But this would be a good life lesson for him. Im for one would had loved to see the festival irl though. Looks pretty fun. Glad that this arc ended on such a high note.

I'm so FREAKING glad Holo is BACK! This show was an effort with her offscreen or just as background. Their reunion was so emotional I think I might melt. That bite on the hand though. LOL. Now the two are actually a couple, even if the "L" Word hasn't been spoken.
I understand her desires to still see her hometown, even if it's just a ruin. I think anyone would.
And Amati? Never try to steal someone else's Woman!

That was a good ending to the arc, but the episodes with no Holo really dragged for me. Things should be better with Lawrence and Holo travelling again, and now we're into new territory with the anime adaptation, which should be interesting.

Waiting 2 weeks for the conclusion of this arc was pain. I nearly forgot some details. But glad I was able to remember most of it after starting the episode. But seeing how the original version of this episode also aired on the same date August 13 but 15 years ago, makes me wonder if this was planned. Probably not. But it was a cool coincidence.

This episode kept me on edge. After the messenger from Diana came to inform him the negotiations failed, I wondered what the heck Lawrence would do. But turns out Holo was still on his side and she crashed the price by selling so much pyrite instead. It wasn't Amarti who bought pyrite from Diana but Holo.

Holo still being on Lawrence's side all along was an unexpected twist. But I still wish Lawrence still somehow managed to win by himself against Holo. But I suppose he already won her when he was at Diana's place while Holo was still there to hear what he said. And maybe even before that. In the end, he was able to tell that Holo was on his side and I think that's what matters the most.

Anyway, I thought Diana might actually be a witch or something but she's actually a bird?! Didn't see that coming at all.

Either way, I am happy that Holo and Lawrence made up. The two's scene together near the end felt good. The only thing I would've liked seeing more is seeing the defeated Amarti being bullied more lol. Tho it might be petty. That kid was so annoying. Glad he got his medicine.

The Remake version of this episode was very good. The OP was skipped but I didn't notice any new scene here which was odd since I did notice some flashback scenes being shorter which is nothing new. I think some scenes got extended pacing-wise. Especially the last scene. It looked beautiful.

Now, the 4th volume will be adapted from the next episode which was never adapted before. Looking forward to it. I'm watching the OG and the Remake together but I'll put the OG Spice & Wolf II on hold until the remake catches up with it with its second season. The Remake is entering new territory and I hope it'll do it justice.

The moment when Holo hammered her bag on the table, yes you could almost say micdropped it (or bagdropped it) - really caught my attention in the 2009 version. And the 2024 version is just as good. It was just such a relief to see how happy Lawrence was to have Holo back with him. The whole story intensified their relationship. Absolutely great.

Now we're finally done with the 1:1 adaptations, so next week the stage will be cleared for the adaptation of light novel 4 - for the first time since it was released in February 2007, a whole 17 years!

Hehe, it's almost reminiscent of the Urusei Yatsura reboot, when in February of this year a chapter from 1979 was suddenly adapted after 45 years. (although of course it won't take on such large dimensions with Ookami to koushinryou)

I always hear a lot of people say that the original series has watered down quite a bit by skipping volume 4, so it seems that there is some pretty intense stuff going on in volume 4.
I suspect that volume 5 will probably be adapted differently (if there is ever a second season of the remake).

Everything was too conveniently wrapped up and once again, the setup and foundation for the arc and conflict felt too unnatural and forced for my liking (even though it was a bit intentional due to Diana's involvement to prove Lawrence's commitment to Holo) and once again, the happiest of endings do happen for Lawrence and Holo with the outcome of Lawrence's struggle. Still don't really agree with how Holo handled the entire situation to leave Lawrence like that given the way everything crumbled for him but he did learn from these experiences and still come out well in the end with Holo by his side again. In fact, while he did feel she abandoned him for good, she was still by his side in secret in a way. Just feel that with all the contrived drama that took place, the resolution was too simple and tame in a way for me to truly care for what took place in the arc. Will say that the last few minutes looked good and overall, would say that this episode felt better to me presentation-wise than I expected. The show really does need to find different ways to make future volumes interesting without just throwing Lawrence into a 'end-of-the-world' emotional level conflict that he has to dig himself out of and have everything work out for him dramatically in the end suddenly. On top of that, this whole arc dragged for me personally.

At least volume 4's adaptation is starting from next week and that is a volume the original anime never adapted, meaning actual brand new anime content for once with this series. Intrigued to see how that adaptation goes through.

The result of all the scheming and planning with the reveals. Holo was always sided with Lawrence and helped him. Infact she was even there when Lawrence went to buy the pyrites. Surprised they didn't make love after all that rebonding and Holo knowing what Lawrence asked to Diana. Btw Amati learned his lesson, that was satisfying.

So the skipped volume is starting next episode? Should be interesting.

Well it turns out that Holo is the mastermind behind this whole thing going Lawrence way. She's been the other party working in the background at every turn. The one who convinced Amati to wait to sell, the one who went to Diane to ask about the pyrite before Lawrence could and the one who sent the contract to Lawrence that spurred him into action. All of that was Holo working to get the outcome she wanted, which was Lawrence coming out on top. Lawrence did his best on his own, or what he thought was his own, to defeat Amati. Testing the market seeing how high pyrite would go in value before selling what he had. If he could let the price get high enough to then plummet it by selling what he had, then the credit Amati got from Lawrence would be worthless. Lawrence waited until the time was right, sold what he had and successfully drove the price down but it wasnt enough. The price still rose back up like nothing happened. Some really bad luck from Lawrence perspective that Diane couldn't sell him more that he could sell on the market to drive the price down again. But lucky for him it was Holo who had that massive amount of pyrite. Completely duping Amati and going back to Lawrence in the end. Amati had gone in over his head trying to dabble so heavily in a market he knew nothing about. Holo took advantage to that and used it to knock Lawrence down a few pegs. They've come to a nice understanding of one another and what they mean in each other's eyes. Holo hearing Lawrence ask Diane about stories of gods and humans becoming couples really tug at her heart. It was very sweet seeing them reconcile and understand each other more. Holo saying that she wants to go back to her hometown even if it's gone. Now we get to see an arc that the old anime skipped which I'm very excited about

The Olympics made us suffer a bit with the two week wait for this episode, but it’s nice to finally have it, and it wasn’t quite the finale I thought it would be but it was still very good. So in the end Lawrence wasn’t able to beat Amati on his own, he had lots of help but it was not enough, it would have been if Diana’s deal went through but it unfortunately didn’t. Well, kinda lol, it was revealed that Holo was the one who had Diana’s pyrite and she helped Lawrence crash the market with it, so I guess Lawrence would have beaten Amati on his own if it wasn’t for Diana’s fuckery lol.

And honestly I would have liked to see a better reaction from Amati after all that’s happened, but I guess he learned to not steal someone’s woman so that’s good enough lol, so I guess I do know why people don’t like Amati now, can’t say I hate his guts but he didn’t make me a fan either, this duel wouldn’t have happened without Lawrence agreeing to it after all. And the reveal that Holo was never truly on Amati’s side was something I saw coming, but it was cool hearing what all of her intentions were and how she was even present when Lawrence asked THE question to Diana lol, but one thing I’m certain of is that I don’t blame Lawrence for thinking Holo switched sides, he’s a merchant, not a psychologist lol.

But, perhaps I should thank Amati for his meddling, because now Lawrence and Holo are tighter than ever, that balcony scene at the end paired with the burning straw statues was a great end to this arc. And as for the arc as a whole, not my favorite of the series but I enjoyed it quite a bit, the show got me interested in the economics enough that I didn’t need Holo to stay invested so her absence didn’t bother me much, but I’d be lying if I said I’m not happy to have her back lol. And although I’m a new fan of the series with this remake, it will be very cool to see the volume the OG anime skipped finally be adapted, definitely looking forward to it.

The guy over seeing the deal was savage "the punishment for trying to steal another person's woman", that cute punch, then holding hands and finally leaning on each other, that's happiness right there. Lawrence needed to stop taking things for granted and learn some humility at the end of the day, Holo was playing chess while Lawrence and Amati were playing checkers.

My boy Lant once again proving his worth.

Episode 19 of "Ookami to Koushinryou" really hits home with its mix of economics and character depth. Watching Lawrence and Holo navigate their challenges shows just how much their bond has evolved. The episode dives deep into trust and personal desires, making it clear why this series is so beloved for its smart storytelling and rich characters. It’s a powerful reminder of the emotional stakes in their journey.

That last scene, with the exchange between them, and the dance, afterwords, was really cool! A bit confusing, because it was a bit hard to follow, but still cool. And that embrace that they had at the end of that argument was just awesome! I couldn’t help but get a big smile on my face when I saw that Holo wasn’t rejecting Lawrence being romantically interested in her, but rather embracing it. Just like she was literally embracing him in that scene. I was like “oh hoooh!”.

Waiting a week was worth it after seeing Amati's face following his defeat and betrayal. That's what he gets for meddling and trying to steal another man's woman; let that bastard suffer.

They're finally back together, and now I feel much more at ease. To be honest, I would have been worried if I were in Lawrence's situation. Even though Holo never considered betraying him, all this happened because she wanted to spend more time traveling with him. Thankfully, Holo is very clever, and her plan worked, but it's also important to recognize that Lawrence had a good plan too, and that boy helped prevent everything from falling apart.

I love this couple. This is a well-crafted relationship—perfect in its imperfection—yet it shows the purest love in its fullest expression (even if Lawrence is a bit clumsy in relationships). They both know they love each other now.

P.S. Does Diana's love story not get explored further? It was quite interesting, and I think she identified with Lawrence and Holo, which is why she helped them.

I feel like the pacing was awkward in this episode. I found the first half too slow and the second too fast!
I would have preferred if they explained better Holo's actions.
Maybe I would have been better if we saw her perspective from the beginning instead of having Lawrence simply tell us about it.
Of course, I'm not suggesting making Lawrence not figure it out, we could have had Lawrence's narration during the flash back.
All I'm saying is that I would have liked to have seen everything (that includes the dance at the end).

It might've been an extra week's wait, but it was worth it in the end just to see Amati suffer a humiliating defeat. As that bartender savagely says afterwards, he got punished for going after someone else's woman. XD

Lant deserves a lot of praise for saying the right words to Lawrance after seeing him slump further towards despair. Thanks to those words,it inspired Lawrence to bounce back and make his move at the same time Holo did, which was the turning point in defeating Amati.

With all of the issues and misunderstandings put aside, seeing Holo and Lawrence back together while viewing the festival before joining the dance themselves was great.

A solid episode overall and I'm looking forward to the next arc as that was skipped in the original anime.

Ah, they ended up leaving out the plot point that the Holo x Amati marriage contract was invalid because Holo signed it with her non-dominant hand, invalidating the signature. It would've been good to preserve that explanation. Otherwise, there's a signed contract about the marriage of the main heroine and the entire city and everyone involved just completely forgets about it!

The conclusion to this arc is satisfying. With Holo and Lawrance making up and becoming closer than enough. Holo never ever thought about betraying Lawrance and rather played Amati in circles, she just didn't let Lawrence leach Amati so she signed the contract (maybe?) which is fair. But overall this arc was not really that good. I think Holo appeared first time after 2-3 episodes. And while I appreciate Lawrence growth and efforts he still couldn't beat Amati without Holos help which is disappointing. I like the battle of merchants it's not boring for me but it could have handled better. If the first 2 arcs is 9 this is 6 at best.
Atleast last 10 minutes had cute couple moments. Also Diana backstory is kinda sad, makes sense why she is rooting for them. God & human couple it will happen for sure..
