For me it's Legend of Galactic Heroes, after being exposed to 110 episodes of masterpiece contents, it made me feel empty after I saw the last episode, it was such very impacting experiences...

What about you? ^.^

An Anime that makes you feel empty? I just go right to the next one once I'm done, no matter how good the prior one made me feel. There's just so many to watch, and although there's plenty of bad ones, there's a few gems.

Define empty...

  • I watched nothing, so I feel nothing: Kanon (Both adaptations): Nothing. Nothing at all. I don't remember jack or shit, and as far as memories and feelings afterwards, it's like I spent 36 combined episodes staring at a plain white wall. The only thing I really remember is that I watched an OneyPlays video afterwards, because fuck me I needed SOMETHING to combat the feeling of wasted time. I really should move the 2006 adaptation from my dropped to completed, but... nah.

  • Kinda depressed once it ended: Versailles no Bara. It's the French fucking Revolution, everybody died! Everybody! Well, not everybody, but nearly everybody! You know that coming into the anime, but by the end, yeah, nearly everybody you care about is dead.

Attack on Titan made me the most empty because I knew I was never going to experience something remontely similar ever again.

Same, OP. Watching LotGH in early 2022 and also sexting an indifferent romanian onlyfans girl was such a good experience, I'll probably remember it forever.

The Fate Zero finale left me speechless... after finishing it, I just stared at the screen for maybe 15 to 20 seconds straight. Another one that just came to mind is devilman crybaby.

@NoelleIsSleepy I second that, even read the manga solely for the Tatsumi x Mine ship.

Attack on Titan and Steins Gate are the first ones that come to mind.

Also, Vagabond and Three days of happiness when it comes to manga.

91 days. If you know you know. After the last episode I felt "Wait. This is what I get? The whole anime was built up to lead to this?"

Hmm, Love Is War. Evangelion's End ( different reasons entirely!). My Dress Up Darling. Date A Live. Horimiya. Fairytail ( my brain was numb after that many episodes!).
Cowboy Bebop. Trigun. Wolf's Rain.

Darling in the franxx because of the disappointing ending and wasted potential.

K-On because I don't know how to explain it; it just leaves you empty after enjoying it so much that you don't really want it to end.

I feel empty on a daily basis lol.
Ok, in a good way, I'd name Kemono Friends and Malice Doll. They were so unique and unusual, and I never thought such type would even attract me so much, it took me some time to just comprehend and accept that.
In a bad way, it's those retarded fetishist shorts. That foot fetish show about stockings. That show about a guy begging girls to show panties. That show about Sugita being reincarnated into random objects surrounding some lesbian schoolgirls. After watching those I felt dirty, empty, dead inside, and lost my hope in humanity.

@Sheol01 I think saying she is the subconscious of Chisa or maybe Arisu is a vaild interpretation, as well as the idea she never existed, the show talks about the idea that truth and by that existence is only what a theory that is agreed upon, in the end
so did she exist? Has anything really happened? The ending is just so good

To put it into perspective, watching Evangelion when I was 11/12 years old, and growing up with the characters and seeing them at 28 grown up at the end of 3.0+1.0. Its just...a very...like...wow I feel empty inside now feeling. After seeing Asuka as an adult finally grown and her plugsuit torn after the eva curse was removed and she finally aged up I had some sort of emotional or primordial awakening or something it was such a powerful feeling after it being such a long long time since first seeing the original series to finally seeing how it truly ended. Not only that though to learn the Asuka in her final scene was the true canon original Asuka as well...it just created some massive emotions happening in me. (for reference ill include the image at the bottom)

@-Crimson- This is a much different ending than the Movie. Of course, that tone was of utter despair. It stayed with me for days. Also, what the OG series wanted, as it wanted to deconstruct the Mecha Genre.

@Sheol01 And imo it did it perfectly. Evangelion was my first anime when I actually knew what the term "anime" meant, and I am glad it was. of course before then I watched pokemon, sailormoon and so on, but eva was my true first anime.

Pretty much the same here as long I watch in moderation and try not to feel overwhelm when finishing.

Pretty much never happened because I learned younger that it's more wise to accept the end and rejoice that feeling empty and leading into toxicity (in that case emotional toxicity since you start to try to find other work to give you that feeling which to me look like addiction).

@mooooonieee All those lobotimized kids he has killed. That ending is freaking BRUTAL man. I don't know if empty was the right word for my feelings at the end. Even Sebastion is taken aback. I wasn't expecting THAT at all.

Man Legend of Galactic Heroes was a showed I love the hell out of back in the 90s shame I was to young to enjoy it when it came out. Anyway anime that left me empty non. Anime that left me salty and pissed because I know it will not get a second or third season because it´s not Demon slayers or Boku no picko Academia or Jujitsu Kaisen. Only main steam super popular anime´s will ever get more than 1-2 seasons. Which makes me ask why even bother on making an anime of a series in the first place if you just gonna drop it after season one.
