Soushirou's past at last.

Soushirou, recalling his aversion to battling larger kaijus, worries that his blades might not penetrate fully. As he prepares to strike, Soushirou's suit reaches its overheating limit, prompting him to realize that continuing in these conditions could jeopardize his life. Determined, he resolves to defeat the kaiju swiftly within a minute. However, Soushirou's concerns escalate when he notices after-beasts emerging, and the kaiju itself begins to self-destruct. Adding to his troubles, as Soushirou moves to attack from behind, enormous eyes suddenly appear on the kaiju's back, and it delivers a devastating punch.

Animators must love Soushirou or something because god damn, anytime he's on the screen, you just know the animation is about to go bonkers. But you also gotta respect the hustle on him as well. Yeah he hates slaying big-ass Godzilla-like kaiju, but that didn't stop him. Though, yes, even if he persevered, with those blades it wasn't going to be enough, so ofc MINA TO THE RESCUE. Her entrance was hype asf can't even lie. Hell even Kikoru came in clutch, setting up that layup for Mina to find the core and destroy it. But ofc, it wasn't enough because this yonju turned into a whole-ass bomb. Thankfully, the GOAT KAFKA SAVED THE DAY. Though at a hefty price...

The secret's out now... what will happen to Kafka now?

Was getting heavy Levi from AOT vibes with how they directed some of Hoshina's scenes. The quick precise slashes, the crazy movement, all that good stuff.

When it seems like all is lost, the Captain arrived just in time to finish things off. She and Hoshina's fighting styles complement each other so well. Though, it was a premature celebration as the leader Kaiju attempted one last hail Mary with a Kaiju nuke. And as the episode title suggested, Kafka blew his cover to save everyone, and now the secret is out. That scene gave me chills not gonna lie. That was intense.

I get that they have to follow protocol and everything with arresting him but come on, dude just saved your asses and the city lol. Well, I think it's obvious that they'll come around eventually.

Kafka got to play the hero he wanted to be and do his job as a part of the Defense Force he idolized, unfortunately with his job ending up with his comrades pulling a gun at him and taking him to custody as his heroic efforts exposed who he really was to everyone this time around. No covering or hiding this issue up this time around for him. Like the source, this reveal happened a lot earlier than expected but it's not entirely unexpected either since there had to be a threatening event that lead him to sacrifice himself and his identity in a way to save others, whether it had to be Mina, one of his friends like Ichikawa or Shinomiya, or everyone from a nuclear-bomb like explosion with Yojus like in this case. Didn't like the characters enough to have the moments feel as special or impactful to me as it should but in terms of execution, the anime did a pretty damn solid job with the episode for the most part. I don't think the animation in this series has had moments that stand out as amazing and this episode is included, but it still looks good and conveys what it has to well enough. Some episodes with this series have felt very sluggish but this one flowed well enough and the ending was nice, leaves some sort of intrigue with what will happen with Kafka, even if the whole direction with this is predictable and seen in various other shounen manga out there.

But the whole Nuke thing was kinda forced and bs but atleast it got Kafka exposed so don't have to care about that drama

This episode really goes all out in production scale to create a perfect time, place, and occasion (or in Japanese term, TPO) for Kafka's revelation.

I already said it once or twice but I'll say it again, give Nobel prize to suit developers, but I think they already receive a nobel for creating such a suit that's not only highly functional but also highly sexual as well.

Epic episode. Kafka really had no other choice but to transform.

Btw, looks like Secre was used as blueprint for younger Mina, lol.

Kafka made the ultimate sacrifice to save his comrades. No other choice but to reveal himself so he could seen that bomb into the upper atmosphere. Crazy that he pushed it so high up yet the explosion still hit the ground. Absolutely the size of a nuclear bomb in that case, it would've leveled the city if Kafka didn't intervene. Hoshina did his absolute best to taken down Kaiju 10 by himself, going well beyond his suits limits. Always looked down upon for using blades instead of guns against kaiju but Hoshina still persevered to become Vice Captain. Mina believed in him and gave Hoshina the chance he needed to thrive. Hoshina came close to losing his life a few times lucky he survived until Mina arrived with her cannon. I've been waiting on her to show up and help, she's the Captain but probably saw the least amount of action out of the while squad during this raid. Her cannon was able to blow Kaiju 10 to smithereens finally. Naturally this arrogant kaiju wouldn't go down with leaving a present behind. Kafka really revealed himself to everyone. Things are going to change dramatically now.

The Daikaiju Honju of Fortitude 9.0, or call it Kaiju No. 10, is the most fearsome Kaiju thus ever faced.

Vice-Captain Soshiro Hoshina is in deep trouble for a Kaiju of this massive size, and say what you will about his determination to fight, but his small blade isn't cutting through, and his suit has exceeded the limit. Where his father didn't see the potential that he has, as well as the Defense Force when he was first recruited, it's Mina's Third Division that gave him the chance and path, which he respects and does his best to exert as much damage as possible. Kafka going to the rescue to transform, and Mina arrives on time for Hoshina to pass the job to her.

The 96% combat power Captain Mina is no slouch, and as Kikoru joins the battle, Hoshina has a fighting chance at the very least to disarm its legs, and successfully reveal its Core. The race to keep attacking it to stop its regeneration becomes the most vital operation, allowing Mina to shoot it down with all of her power, saving everyone. Of course, Kafka crying in happy tears is a comedic mess, and he has a lot to work on, but the Yoju is still not done yet, exacting a huge bomb, and this is where Kafka stands, transforming himself into Kaiju No. 8 with Fortitude 9.8 to deal the final clash. The secret is out, and Kafka plays the hero exerting all of his strength to stop the 20-ton TNT from blasting the entire base.

Of course, Kafka is taken into custody, because that's the rules of the Defense Force. What will be his fate being a human-Kaiju hybrid?

The episode's name was literally "Secret Revealed." I wish I didn't see the name bruh. Literally spoiled the twist.

Anyway, wow. Kafka's secret is now out. I knew it'd be revealed eventually but didn't think it'd happen so fast. Would've liked it if it was a secret for a bit longer with more cat and mouse chase tbh. But oh well.

This episode was really freaking good tho. The scene with Kaiju No. 8 becoming fucking Iron Man and punching a kaiju nuke to space looked amazing. Of course, Hoshina fighting the Honju was amazing too. Good thing they managed to kill that shit.

Now, I wonder what's going to happen to Kafka next. Will he be experimented on? Will he escape and become a target again? Or will he still continue to be a Defense Force officer? Probably the latter. The cliffhanger was insane. Can't wait for the next episode.

Well almost thinking Kafka manage to slip out this time without even transform, thought the title is just a prank. But Kaiju no. 10 definitely have something under his sleeve, he's not even death there.

Even after the arrival of Mina, they can't detect massive bomb above their sky? The fuck the operator do the whole time sequence happening? That's why you don't celebrate until its clear you really win, guys. Now Kafka gonna take the blame for their negligence 🤦‍♂

Well Kafka let himself get busted. The action scenes in this ep were a little bit disappointing compared to the manga. Ichikawa didn't arrive at the training zone and was talkin' to Kafka over microphone in the manga. They changed it I see. Kafka givin' up his security for his friends' lives definitely W

Now that the story is happening. There's a 50/50 of the daikaiju be weak to one of them, when one is away.

If the tiger is used to help reduce recoil, would be nice if they had a suit too.

Good thing that the bomb is fairly solid. Imagine Kafka putting so much force, that he goes just right through it.

Was worried how it was seemingly following a no-consequence structure when Kafka transforms. Absolutely loved how it did not. Kafka just running ahead with no monologue prior really stood true to his character.

Liked the episode. Was surprised they tried to trick us think that kafka won't transform, but that cliched "hooray we have won a really powerful enemy so we won't notice a giant bomb above us" was a little bit disappointing :p

Mina packs some serious fire power and the white tiger, hella cool. Hoshina's cool too.

The reveal is finally here and was looking forward to it but the shock felt more impactful in manga whereas in the anime they extended the scene a bit and even added some short dialogues of other characters dragging the scene and losing the charm of the whole transformation sequence which looked way cooler from the angles shown in the manga. Also Kafka looked emotionless in the end of the episode there whereas in the manga he looked more saddened.

Kino the episode. Hoshina backstory and motivations finally revealed, which made his battle against Kaiju number 10 that much more powerful. Not only was he fighting to protect his subordinates and base, but also to prove his doubters wrong and Mina right for believing in him.

While the rest of the Kaiju defense force may use guns, Hoshina’s blades are the perfect pairing for Mina and her fighting style. She’s great against massive Kaiju and he’s a small to medium specialist. Her giving him those words of encouragement probably saved his life and career, no wonder he wants to stand next to her. Both he and Kafka have been massively impacted and motivated by Mina.

Some of the blade cutting sequences reminded me of Captain Levi, they really cooked with all of Hoshina’s scenes and showed the speed and precision he attacks with. The level of skill and attention to detail for every strike didn’t go unnoticed.

But even that wasn’t enough. This felt like a heavyweight fight with both sides just going back and forth. I figured Mina showing up wouldn’t be enough to take out Kaiju number 10, but I didn’t think he’d go all mutually assured destruction and try to nuke the place.

Kafka’s reveal scene was so awesome and very much in character. He didn’t give it much of any thought and just rushed in to save the people he cares about. That impulsive but considerate nature of his is what’s endeared him to so many people to begin with.

The staff COOKED with that iron man esque save the day scene. Production IG have to win animation of the season for the job they’ve done with these big set pieces in this.. and as you’d expect, Kafka’s thanks for saving the day… “you’re under arrest” 💀 I can’t wait to see what the consequences will be

Cliffhanger was nasty with that reveal, and this happened earlier than I would have expected, but these phases of battles is something I'm not that fond of. It'd be nice to have some more variety in what happens, rather than fight after fight after fight. You might not agree with this, but I think we need a bit of down time, but the drama is gonna kick off now, and that could work decently as well. Interested to see what happens.

Really cool episode. Kafka crying was so cute. It made me feel for him. The fight was super tough and it was even a losing battle with that nuclear bomb in the end, but Kafka had to make a tough choice and had to reveal his truth in front of everyone. Looks like Kafka is gonna be in a custody. Poor guy. I hope nothing bad happens to him.

I swear, I got goosebumps,
This episode is what I've been waiting for since the last episode, also since I read the manga. I also got nervous seeing how Kafka became a Kaiju and was seen by all his friends, of course by his childhood friend too, Ashiro Mina.
Of course, not forgetting, how the scenes in the manga are now animated so epically, again making me enjoy what happened there. The troops, of course, with neat cooperation, can defeat Kaiju No. 10.
Next is to wait for how their next action and response to the situation that Kafka is Kaiju No. 8.

The pay off of today's episode sky rocketed this anime from an 8/10 to a 10/10 for me!! Kaiju No. 8 just doesn't disappoint and never fails to deliver peak action! The fact that it took 10 whole episodes before the rest of the characters got to find out that Kafka was Kaiju No. 8 is insane!! I don't think I've seen a single Shounen where the protagonist was able to keep his secret identity/power from everyone else hidden for this long! And the fact that the Kafka was able to prove himself all this time without needing to reveal his Kaiju powers to everyone is the icing on the cake!! I really hope the last 2 episodes will cement that 10/10 score and not somehow derail it xD

From reading some of the replies, I think I am the only one that REALLY prefers the manga over the anime in this episode. It might be because I had huge expectations for this episode and they weren't fully fulfilled, but I don't think this episode was bad, just that the manga was much better (IMO)
