| I’ve seen this red flag vs green flag topic being talked about quite a bit online in recent times, and I thought to myself “hey, maybe I should turn this into a thread topic on MAL.” It might be interesting to see what people here would say about this. So when it comes to dating, what color flag would you give each of these? The options are red flag, beige flag, and green flag. Red flag = a dealbreaker, or at least getting kind of close to being a dealbreaker Beige flag = not a dealbreaker, but it's also something that's not exactly ignorable to you at first glance either. | The only very likely red flag i see is the one on not being okay with different opinions and trying hard to change me though that is assuming if being disrespectful or hounding. Everything else it just depends on the reasons for things or exactly how they act in particular or it is something im not sure how i myself feel on it like i might want to travel but i might not. You didnt really make a very clear distinction between green and beige either because green includes beige from your phrasing. I suppose the news and politics one would be annoying that frequent but it isnt a deciding factor alone likely. |

I'm ok with pretty much everything, even the "beige flags" (I honestly never heard this expression before today btw) are more potential issues, if the person won't change at all on the long term. The only problems I got would be (excepted of course if the person has discriminatory beliefs) if the person's not interested in anything at ALL, even something I'm not interested in would do the thing, like if they have no passion at all, and/or too intrusive (as I colored red the "They always wanna know your whereabouts and/or perma-texting you" ). If you made an equal decision where to go you should either pay for your own meals or split the check depending on who makes more money or alternate who pays. If just one side is making plans where to go they should be the one paying because the other person wont be adequately prepared and it was their invitation so it should be their treat. |
