This was wild. I knew what to expect but the satirical humor and gimmicks still made the episode pretty crazy. This show is by the same author as The Quintessential Quintuplets but is absolutely nothing like it.

We do get a decent amount of info dump into this along with the tone of the show. Oh and of course, there are those rangers. Got what especially after what they promoted.

Yostar is back, and for once, they're not adapting one of their beloved game franchises. Instead, they're adapting the work of the GOAT, Negi Haruba, who brought you TQQ, a manga about power rangers! Too bad this is airing on Disney+/Hulu though

Tatsuya Kitani's OP... what's there not to say? The man doesn't miss.

Thirteen years ago, when the Monster Army breached Earth's borders, the Divine Dragon Rangers emerged as the stalwart defenders. Amidst the ongoing conflict, these revered champions stand as humanity's final line of defense... Or so it seems. In reality, the invaders were swiftly subdued, compelled to churn out a new monster weekly for the Rangers to vanquish, all under the gaze of their fervent admirers. Yet, amidst this cycle, one "villain" has reached its breaking point. Determined for change, he plots to defy the Dragon Rangers' dominance, aiming to dismantle them from within.

As a bit of a Tokusatsu fan myself, I find this to be such a unique take on the genre and absolutely love all the clichés incorporated here. Also, that whole Sunday fight thing is hilarious, especially since Japan typically airs Super Sentai and Kamen Rider back-to-back on Sunday mornings. The villains may be immortal, but their executives are defeated. This suggests that the executives are still alive, perhaps captured as hostages to compel the villains to keep "fighting" so the rangers can continue reaping hero benefits. Additionally, I totally thought the guy and girl were going to be the red and pink rangers. So the rangers eliminate all of the evil executives and enslave the remaining foot soldiers, allowing them to perpetuate the same routine repeatedly. That's pretty messed up.

Trying to break out of the same clichés every Sunday... what a premiere! I'm hooked. Well done, Negi, you're about to go two for two, aren't you?

If you're not satisfied with how Gotoubun no Hanayome a.k.a The Quintessential Quintuplets ended, not to worry! Mangaka Negi Haruba has a new work for you, and it's this show: Sentai Daishikkaku a.k.a Ranger Reject (Go! Go! Loser Ranger is such a bad localized name, almost like a "Go! Go! Power Rangers!" pun), a clear ode to Super Sentai.

Blue Archive game producer Yostar Pictures's first full-featured anime outside of their IPs, it's going to be great. Of course, Tatsuya Kitani has to come with the OP, and this is good.

The battle between good and evil: the Divine Dragon Rangers - the Dragon Keepers vs. the Nefarious Monster Army, represented by fighters a.k.a Dusters, and with a new monster: Ul-tora Tiger. On the sideslines, there're the Ranger Forces keeping the audience safe while the Dragon Keepers fight with every inch of their justice to the eyes of many, from the young to the old. Meanwhile, within the Dusters, Fighter D is the only one enough of the farce and faces the Dragon Keepers head on.

Back at the Monster Army's HQ, the Dusters are all but done with their bosses and executives all eliminated by the Dragon Keepers, though foot soldiers many of them are, it's hard to keep having monsters designed every Sunday Showdown for 998 times, and Fighter D wants to change that aspect so badly for world domination. Too bad that he's the only one thinking of this, whereas the Dusters have maintained this act for 13 years on, hearing the cries of the surface-dwellers, even if they know they're going to lose each and every time. But Fighter D resisting their efforts with all his might (and even being cheered on), a trash mob like him has no place in the world of justice, making this the 999th loss.

Fighter D and the girl that recruited him, Yumeko Suzukiri, he will go to lengths to make sure that every hero is killed...by joining the Rangers.

So far, so good.

Watching this because the same author, and I mean this sounds like a very weird premise too, tbh lol, so that’s reason enough. By the way, the outfits… of these dragon keepers do look very similar to what we used to have in Power Rangers Mystic Force back then lol.

Anyways, to think their world has a sort of tradition to hold a sunday theatre show kind of just to reaffirm the fact that their power rangers still hold it against the main bad gang, and will continue to partake in the, “good guys beat bad guys”, tutorial every week is a very hilarious thing in itself. Moreover, to think the bad guys are forced to act that way, because that’s the only thing they could do, is more funny than sad. But hey, that’s where the main guy comes in.

Dude wanna topple this whole genre aside, I mean he wants to fight the good guys and wishes for the bad guys’ victory, lol. Not happening soon, but will someday.. I think. Fun first episode, and production values are looking good as well. Looking forward to more.

Checking this out because the manga is made by the author of Gotoubun no Hanayome (The Quintessential Quintuplets). That's sure a jump in genres lol. And the trailers looked really good, so I have pretty high expectations. Unfortunately this is on Disney Plus/Hulu :(
Also I heard that VAs of 2 of the rangers acted in actual Super Sentai, this is cool.

I can already feel the production value, damn.
4:39 The pun is that "tora" is tiger in Japanese.

"And now, to the commercials!" *Commercial break* Love it.
Oh, I thought this was all an act, but they are actual aliens lol.
12:37 竜虎 (ryuuko lit. dragon tiger) - two mighty rivals. Must be related to Chinese folklore.

The transformation scenes with the dust flying around are so damn cool.
Ohhh, It's cool how they're showing the animation process in the ED.

Really intriguing first episode, I love this already. The animation was a billion times better than I expected.

Not exactly that original (Koi wa Sekai, Kuroitsu-san, or even the last season's Warumono-san) but I've a spandex fetish so I'll forgive all of this anime's fault.

With that said, this anime doesn't have any fault in the first place, the production quality is high, the character design is respectful to the genre, the costume is on point, the bulge is packed, I don't have any complaints at all.

A monster "born out of the collective grudges of tigers" that can also transform into a truck for some reason being thought of by the actual villain team instead of show writers that ran out of ideas is so weirdly endearing. The Dusters existence is still a sad and miserable one though, but I'm rooting for them.

Also, I'd probably never skip a next episode preview again if they were always done with stop motion puppets.

I read the manga and stopped for god knows what reason, I guess I was reading too much at the time (like 9 series at once). But I loved the stuff I saw and how this story is kinda like and inverse on the whole power rangers theme.

The anime… I did not expect this to go haaaaarrrddd! The animation is amazing, loved the music and the actors did a great job with the characters, they surprisingly sounded exactly how I imagined them.
I hope this gets more attention and I hope it lives us to its expectations because I honestly think this could be a great series. Can’t wait for more to come!

I really hope people give it a chance and don't just see "Power Rangers" and drop half way into the episode. The first half of the episode kept you in the dark like it was just normal power rangers before finally clueing you in. I absolutely love the particle effects when they are reforming after being destroyed. This has potential to be my Favorite new show this season.

Mathematics engage!

They said they've been fighting for 13 years. We don't know exactly when they started, but let's say it's been 14 years, as an overestimate.
They fight once a week, which is equivalent to 365.25 days per year / 7 days per week * 1 fight per week = ~52.2 fights per year.
This means that at most they've fought 14 years * 52.2 fights per year = 730 fights.

Animation and style were really nice.

I kinda expected the little twist at the end, but that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable.

This premise is very unique, anime power rangers were not expected, but it seems well written so far so I’m def not mad at it!

Overall, good first episode! I’m excited for more. I would give this one a solid 8/10

the boys + power rangers is finally here with a fun premise and man did they cook with the visuals, it looks really great. the early parts of the manga was my favourite too (before i kinda lost interest somewhere after 100 chapters), so i'm excited to see the rest of this season animated and this was a really good start to the show. also great choice to pick gojo's VA for red.

Not a bad first episode! I was a really big fan of the concept upon hearing it and it is just as good as it sounds. The 4th wall breaking humor with stuff like the text on screen physically getting in the way is pretty entertaining. I will say that first fight felt almost sort of hollow, like the soundtrack wasn't very into it and it didn't feel intense. BUT, that's not a criticism, as that's likely the point with it being staged and all. Or I'm making the weirdest nonsensical observations, always possible.

Looking forward to see where the rest of this goes!

Haruba Negi back with another anime. This episode looked so cool, loved it. Animation and visuals are so good. Loved watching Suzukiri in anime and her seiyuu did good, even though she's new.

When the manga came out and I started it, the reveal caught me offguard and been one crazy ride with it ever since. Gonna be a wild ride with the anime too.

I really liked it and found the concept quite interesting. The animation looks pretty good, and the OP is addictive.

I'm still not sure what might happen, but something tells me it won't be so generic and that the girl who met Soldier D is hiding something. I really want the invaders to achieve some victory and for the facade of their fights against the Sentais to end.

I enjoyed the credits and previews a lot; using storyboards and puppets was interesting.

@gorkthe134th I also did maths after watching and got confused. Maybe for the first years the fights were several times per week and then reduced to only Sundays. Probably Dragon Keepers had to do too many other activities (commercials, meeting fans, ettc) that they don't have time to fight. :D

But you gotta give a credit for Dusters to come with a monster of a week for 999 times, lol. That part was hilarious.

Wow, I can imagine the publisher seeing how Negi, after finishing a romcom as successful as "the quintessential quintuplets", came up with this totally different idea xddd.

It looks very interesting and I like the approach it has, knowing Negi it is likely that the characters will be developed adequately (I'm not fangirling xd).

Yup all a ruse, basically the monsters (heels) lost the conflict years ago but the Dragon Keepers (faces) artificially extended the conflict to entertain humans.
The Dragon Keepers using helmets with coloured visors on black are very Timeranger-esque but they also wear capes (as used by Gorenger and Lupinranger).
That's a very meta commentary on motif-reuse (we already used a Lion!)
Vehicle-animal hybrids are very Go-Onger (and we also got some this year in Boonboomger). Triple-pun on tora (tiger) with torakku (truck) and toransufōmu (transform). Complete with the absurd goal of "turn all animals tiger-striped".
