Even though Keitarou is bit of a dull protagonist, I have to admit that he has balls to try and take on spirits to get rid of their curses.

The cursed videotape plot device used this episode isn't really original but it fits for this anime's themes. Keitarou has good intuition though..being able to sense something is wrong at the right times.

Hm, I'm starting to see some development in our protagonist slowly but surely.

Upon discovering that vanquishing the culprit's spirit will break the curse, Keitaro realizes there is hope to save Eiko, who had been entangled in the same spiritual turmoil as him. Now faced with a pivotal decision, he must choose between continuing his involvement with the occult or taking the path of reintegration into society. The weight of this choice hangs heavy on Keitaro, as it not only impacts his own life but also the fate of his dear friend Eiko.

Seeing Kei and Eiko finding some enjoyment amidst their cursed lives at university was heartwarming. They both deserved a chance at regularity, and one can only hope that when the semester begins, things will continue to go smoothly for them. However, deep down, I have a sneaking suspicion that their path won't be without challenges.

Eiko's driving skills are insane lol. It seemed like Eiko already held a strong attachment to Kei, but discovering her yandere tendencies was unexpected. This revelation begs the question of how this aspect of her personality will influence from here on out.

Without a doubt, things are bound to become even more captivating and eventful from this point onward. The story has taken an intriguing turn, leaving me eagerly anticipating the twists and surprises that lie ahead.

Lol so I was kind of right that Eiko has some mental problems. That scene with Kei being on recording was also a bit scary. Other than that nothing of note as I’ve yet to see where the story is going.

Okay the horror in this is really exciting!
Where did Yayoi even learn all of this?
Keitaro x Eiko let's gooo! They are so wholesome
Would'n it have been better if he just put his hand in some water?
Okay, I take back what I said earlier about Eiko... But her being a yandere is hot so LET'S GOOOO

This episode was 10 minutes long I swear
One of the best anime this season imo

In what world can a teacher show that kind of video clip at a university? That's certainly some kind of spooky stuff alright. Also, of course you can count on Kana Hanazawa to play a yandere, perfect VA for that kind of character.

Oh what's next? An occult club? Rare to see class that revolves around horror stuff. I'm really enjoying the way the anime is handling the curses, again it's not just a simple matter of finding and destroying them. There's a lot of mystery and suspense surrounding them. I will never EVER TRUST whatever Eiko is trying to pull, and this episode is what's telling me to do so.

Eiko's face expression at the end is definitely going to appear in my nightmares, in my opinion it's the most unnerving thing in the anime that has appeared for now. I knew that something was going on with her and Keitaro, but I did not expect THAT.

Of course there's more to Eiko than what meets the eye, she isn't just Kei's innocent childhood friend. I'm very curious to know the truth about her.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

A bit of action in this episode.
They are at a new college.
Keitaro got another curse because he watched a vhs tape in the horror club.
But after all it was all good and he got loose of the curse

I wonder if Elko and Keitaro fucked would that make the curse better or worse?
In any case Eiko is twisted enough to make the show moe interesting!
And being naked to drive out a spirit might be a first.

A decent episode. The content doesnt seem to be as good before it gets creepy. I wonder if Keitarou will ever find out about Eiko's creepy side.

Wait does this mean Eiko is not treating the effects of her curse at all? It's supposed to be painful as fuck...... (but I wouldn't be surprised seeing she does have some screws loose)

And does this also mean she actually has enough spiritial sensitivity to see blobls of spirits? How the hell is she hiding it from Yayoi of all people.

This is getting better with each ep.

The beginning really made it seem like they were just going to have a normal day looking around, but I guess not.
Also turns out Eiko might have a bit of a creepy interest for Keitarou...

Yeah... I knew Eiko is sus. From the very first episode I had a feeling something is wrong with this girl. After 4th episode her actions start making sense.
Also: teacher is allowed to show an actual suicide video to the students? Just like that?

Butt-naked megaman, loligoth and a yandere walk into a bar...

ngl, the horror is actually decent. Perhaps because I feel the ghosts are actually out there for the kill, not some wishy washy boohoo casper stuff.
They REALLY want to hurt people. Sound design is on par too, all the usual japan horror cues are there and it works fine.

The MC however... is kind of meh

Another "ghost of the week", but well executed as usual and with plently of character development for Keitaro and Eiko!

I like how this story was (aside from the car scene) more calm than the previous, yet stilll creepy. Especially the backstory hit very close!

And, to no one's suprise, Eiko is quite messed up in the head... I do wonder if there's more to her addiction to scary stuff (as she's related to Yayoi), or if she's really a normal human with a screw loose. But honsetly, both ways sound good!

So, regular people show no interest in Keitarou, but somehow...

  • Spirits are "obsessed" with him
  • Likewise, Eiko is obsessed with him
  • We've seen her "ghost face" more than once
  • They share a curse

Are these really just coincidences? I find it hard to believe.

This feels like a set up for a twist where she's a spirit under the guise of a human, which explains why she's fallen in love with the mc, and is directly involved with the death of Yayoi's parents. Perhaps she was jealous of Yayoi's family and killed them in order to form a "normal family" with Yayoi and Keitarou? And let 's not forget that Yayoi is the perfect child to tie them together. Which reminds me, the curse could very well be something caused on purpose by Eiko herself to keep him close to her.

Well, you pick the spooky class and you got spooky stuff, what’s there to hate lol. Jokes aside I liked the use of the classic cursed video that kills you here, definitely reminiscent of “The Ring” but this isn’t near as scary of course, but it was a cool situation with a fun solution, just recklessly drive as fast as you can to keep Keitaro from combusting lol, great stuff.

And there was a lot of stuff about Eiko here, first was the reveal that the hand of nerves we saw before is actually hers, a neat reveal but I had it spoiled for me back when that episode aired sadly, and learning more about her past with Keitaro was interesting too. And of course there was the bit at the end where we got to see Eiko’s computer setup complete with a copious amount of pictures of Keitaro lol, it has me wondering if this is due to her curse that she’s like this or if she’s always been this way, either way a cool reveal, especially with that creepy smile reappearing.

Damn, while this episode felt a bit like filler since it had its own unique side story that mostly got resolved by the end it was nonetheless the creepiest with Eiko being discovered to be a yandere and that look she gave sent shivers down my spine....

Btw, manga still drawn way better as far a horror feels, sadly.

DW the boring part of the story is pretty much over. (First 4 episodes)
Now the story will only get more intense from there.
All I can say is expect something like Jujutsu/ Bleach later :P

But tbh I think the studio team are not rly good at drawing horror stuff. The color choice is way too plain and bright.
It's the same studio from Summer Time Render but without the Summer Time render art team (they all left and join Zombie 100 team), and if Dark Gathering can get the horror feel of Summer Time render, it'd have been way better.

Oh well... It's just like Jobless Incarnation season 2, there's nothing we can do about it but accept for what it is then...

i was under the impression originally that a spirit had possessed eiko or something, but she's just a creepy yandere? i mean her being a yandere makes more sense, because yayoi and keitarou would both have seen/sensed it a long time ago if she was possessed.

from the pictures eiko has of keitarou it also seems like she actually can see/sense spirits like the other two despite what she says.

i was definitely a little iffy about this show at first. the first couple episodes didn't really grab my attention that much, but now im so curious about what's going to happen later in the show. mostly about this whole yandere eiko development. i wonder if they'll ever find out how creepy she is.

Dammit, I mean there were signs, but I didn't want to believe it. I hope it's not a fully gone yandere, and they can "bring her back", so to speak.

Personally, there are levels to a yandere, bat shit insane, there's no hope for them, like the chick from Happy Sugar Life, to someone like Pitohui from Gun Gale Online, who may still be a bit crazy, but calmed down as a result of something.

Overall, the yandere thing has never appealed to me.
