I'm rather neutral, but if I had to pick, I'd probably pick option 1. Though I do have to admit, I let out a heavy sigh every time someone tells me their favorite is SAO, but that's mainly because I don't want to have to make the conversation awkward by telling them I think their favorite is a 3/10 lol.

Well, haters just hate a show. It's absolutely ok.
While fanboys hate people. They insult them, belittle them, and sometimes even send them death wishes (hello to Re Zero, Monogatari and Clannad fans)

That's just not even true--there are plenty of people who will hate on another person because of an anime that person likes, and not simply hate on the show. Plenty of haters literally go out their way to agitate the people who like specific anime.

Haters are worse than ultra fans.
Cause there will be alot of ultra fans who understands the flaws and accept them aswell as they can at least discuss about it and agree with the counter view, even if that won't change their view or their love towards the series they are fan of.
While some haters [from my own experience mainly] no matter how strong are their arguments if they even have those and no matter what you'll tell them they won't go into a discussion, cause they will simply trash over whatever they hate.

Fanboys. OPM fanboys always comparing Saitama to someone else. Chainsaw Man fans trashing every other series in existence. Just some examples

One time I was stuck with a SAO fanboy for a minute in an anime convention. He explained how based a forgettable SAO season 2 minor villain is and why he chose to cosplay him. So yeah "someone who loves an anime you hate (your vote)"

Fanboys, because haters are easy to ignore while fanboys sometimes attack other users anime as well to prove their anime is one true divine object. I also got some experiences from fanboys but never from haters.

Once some childish ReZero fanboy suddenly trashtalked me just because I rate ReZero S2 with 6 rating, I just laughed at him and he deleted all his comments afterwards, what a chicken.

In the defense of the fanboys of Sword Art Online, I have to say that it is 100% anime community's fault why everything surrounding that show is so polarized. Years of mindless hating of the show and flaming of the fans will always produce people, who won't tolerate even slight criticism anymore or hate it without a reason.

I would say dealing with fanboys is far easier than with haters. At least fanboys are capable of expressing positive emotions.

''I like the show x, because...''

''Umm, actually your show is a 3/10.''

No wonder you make conversations awkward, lmao.

Probably someone who hates an anime you love (your vote), because there aren't a lot of shows that I hate, and even someone loves them, I don't really care.

Generally, Id' rather talk to someone about stuff that they like, rather than stuff they hate. Although it can fun to bash things, it just gets tiring hating on everything. The thing is, haters and fanboys are one in the same, both ends of the extreme. Anime fans really don't know how to live in that middle ground, things either suck, or it's the greatest thing ever lol.

You're misinterpreting my words--I don't respond to "this show is my favorite" by saying "3/10", I'm not a fucking robot. What I meant, is when someone tells me "this show is my favorite", and I possess a negative opinion of that show, I feel awkward, because I don't want to trash talk the thing they like.

Also, I never said they explained why they like something, and that's usually the biggest issue, and the reason many people like shows like SAO--they don't think about why they like it. It's an anime that's easy to like; an OP, self-insert protagonist, solid animation, a fantastic musical theme, and full-dive VR, make SAO the kinda show that most people watch and think, "I want to live in that world". In these ways, it's rather ideal, and these are exact the qualities that allow people to overlook things like: its cast is boring and forgettable, over half of what occurs during Aincrad (which most consider to be the "good" part of the show) is completely unconnected, it has a grander scope than it had narrative to cover--Aincrad supposedly has 100 floors but we only see about 10 or so of them, it's supposed to be a fantasy game but there's no lore, even it's design in regards to game mechanics suck (mmorpg with only one class?), not to mention a villain whose reasons for his actions are "I don't even remember anymore", and the list goes on. Which is exactly why I like SAO abridged, as it remedies most of the problems I complained about, and even makes fun of the last one.

Fanboys are probably worse, some of them will never accept any critics of their series even when it is an obvious one that other fan of that very same series can see, aside from saying their series is the best to have ever existed, peak fiction or other stuff. Besides you have to go to some comment sections to see fans of other series attacking someone who gave it a review with low score.

However, I don't know where people get that haters don't attack others for liking a series, it happens and a lot of times, the most recent ones I can remember is specifically Kanojo Okarishimasu haters making fun and bothering pople who say that like Kanojo Okarishimasu. There are other examples, but saying they don't attack others is downright wrong.

If there are hostile fanboys, that's because they are created by haters. Should haters had never existed in the first place, fanboys would have no reason to be hostile.

If you have an issue with fanboys that aren't hostile and just like what they like... well you're a loser.

The people lying on the extremes of both groups are pretty much the same. They both will attack you for your opinion and it would usually escalate to attacking you for liking/hating that particular series.

I don't particularly hate any series honestly, so I will just pick haters.

Fanboys...they are the ones that actually can't take criticism about their favourites and turn abusive.
So the option someone who loves an anime you hate...
But hate is a strong word, i can never hate anime, unless it's pedo like musho tenshi

You hit the nail right on the head.
I absolutely hate those narrow-minded pseuds who think themselves of as some sort of intellectual heavyweight just because they like a Japanese cartoon. Sure, some anime is written in a more interesting manner than other, but critical aclaim doesn't equal immunity for your belittling actions.

Both can be a pain in the ass and hard to deal with, but I'll go with "those who hate your favorite anime"

The only reason is that I, personally, prefer talking about stuff that I like and avoid talking about stuff I dislike, and if others are on the same page as well, it will lead to less drama in our discussions.

To put it simply, I can get along with anyone who hates my favorites, as long as you don't keep bitching to me about why you dislike them. Taste is subjective anyway. Better spend your time talking about what you love rather than what you hate.

Being a hater isn't a bad thing in my book, so fanboys are more annoying. However there's one simple solution to deal with this which is to ignore both.

It's only bad to deal with them if they attack you personally. Other than that, they can say whatever they want. Idgaf.

But yes, fanboys are more likely to attack people than haters.

Both are pretty awful but after dealing with that one infamous Re:Zero stan that shall not be named, I have to say fanboys. No disrespect to the actual fanbase and people that like the series (some I've spoken to have been good for sure), but that one dude that kept on being so hard-headed and dismissive about every other series and shit talking everything while labelling R:Z as perfection across all of fiction made it really annoying for me, especially when I was rewatching it and commented on those threads from time to time and not enjoying the rewatch anyway.

I don't have many issues with people "hating" on my favorite series even if they can be annoying about it and sometimes, intentionally toxic to garner attention. But if there's someone that's hating on a series because of defense mechanisms for being a fanboy of another series like that one dude and can't accept either criticism or other's subjective opinions on a series, it's fucking annoying for me I'll admit. Doesn't need to even apply to this series specifically, anyone that acts like that is definitely worse for me since they somehow do both being a hater AND being a fanboy at the same time. If they just like a series a ton but can accept other people's opinions, calm. They're fine.

It is difficult to deal with fanboys more than haters because haters are easy to ignore while fanboys are foolish and want to prove that their anime is the best by giving stupid reasons. They keep on arguing with you.

Once a toxic hxh fanboy(I still remember that guy) was arguing with me a lot that I used offensive language which led me to 3 day ban.
