Trying to get back into anime after
I got burnt out last year from watching trash anime after trash anime.
Though I find that I'm way more interested in manga atm.
RATING SYSTEM
(๑•̀︿•́)و✧ :
10 - A piece of work I love so much that flaws are nonexistent or disregarded entirely. It is something I deeply admire.
9 - Amazing. Kept me fully invested and was able to surprise me. If it maintains a lasting impact on me I might change it to a 10.
8 - Really good. It managed to stay consistent and I would probably watch again.
7 - Had its good moments and some bad (or was just moderate) . Overall I enjoyed it.
6 - I liked it or it was decent but it was really missing something (i.e. a bad ending or I was unable to really be attached).
5 - A lot about it was decent but overall felt really lackluster, or by the end it just bothered me more than I can excuse.
4 - I mean... it had redeeming moments, I guess? Maybe like a third of most episodes was worth watching.
3, 2, 1 - Varying levels of being a waste of time with little to no redeeming qualities. Trash.
Anime I watched in 2022
green - was great
red - disappointing

Rewatches
keep in mind I HATE the idea of rewatching things.. that time is just better used experiencing something new imo. its extremely rare for me to rewatch anything ever
Black Clover
-Rewatched most arcs 2-4 times and some individual episodes I've seen up to 20+ times.
-Also hours upon hours spent watching Crunchyroll clips on youtube. BC is the only series I can constantly rewatch for multiple hours happily, besides maybe DGM.
-Plus there's also the fact that I've seen the ops & eds hundreds upon hundreds of times (not an exaggeration, I have proof of this)
Angel Beats
-Rewatched after finishing the Heaven's Door manga.
-It was already a 10 before rewatching and my appreciation for it only grew afterwards.
Jujutsu Kaisen
-Wasn't a deliberate rewatch. I just wanted to watch it alongside
my brother who was watching it for the first time.
-Though rewatching it made me realize that early JJK has a great
amount of foreshadowing towards the events of its future arcs.
Why my manga tends to be rated so highly
For me, manga requires an immense amount of time to finish. I take lots of thought before starting every manga to make sure I'm really reading something I think I'd like. (otherwise that would be a LOT of time wasted on trash)
There are quite a few moments that would justify it being a 10/10 probably, but that is definitely one that stands out to me as well. Main thing that was holding me back originally is more some things that bugged me in Dream Ranker, but now that I've watched all other Toaru shows I should have some extra context that will help, and I did love the arc overall so maybe I'll decide the few issues are small enough to ignore. Otherwise it will remain a high 9/10 which is still very good.
I wasn't at all expecting to like it so much either. I actually thought the first Railgun season was a bit disappointing, it's also one I skip when rewatching the series. S2 surprised me with how much it improved, and then s3 surprised me again by somehow improving on s2 around as much as s2 improved on s1.
I think our compatibility of almost 80% is the highest I've seen so far. o.o Although it would almost certainly go down if we watched more in common, especially because our tastes don't even seem very similar. I'm thinking about also raising Railgun T to a 10/10 by the way, currently rewatching it, I'll see how I feel about it after that.
Honestly upon rewatch it might go to a 10/10, the more I think about it the more I like it and hence it is on my favourites.
Mainly the animation and some of the side quests/moments which are such a big strength in some cases can be a drawback in other instances. Also don't really love any characters outside of the main duo (kinda just don't remember them, not that they are bad at all).
Already figured something like that was the case. While I don't know if I can identify with him on that (even though I'm like a big introvert who doesn't like being in social situations), I can totally see where you're coming from 😁
Honestly, just having a small group of online friends to chat with is much more preferable in my opinion, than having like lots of friends, constantly being at like partys or other social events... 😅
Oh shit sorry for the late reply, was busy yesterday.
well abt jjk, I dropped it coz mappa elevates the source material for jjk by a 10 fold, and the manga just didn't feel the best way to experience it from, considering the not-so-great art.
Db huh....... Well, it wasn't the best time to get into it at all, I've basically seen quite a lot of battle shonen that straight up copy pasted the troupes that originated from this legendary work. Now watching these few formulae on repeat in the og was really tiring, lol. Also considering production related issues that include the absolutely horrible pacing and bad animation[its the first time I watched a show that old so give me a pass here, wasn't exactly accustomed to it]
I don't know man, I prefer having shows on a list with the same similarities, which is why I mostly wrote them as "great characters", "exciting", etc. rather than reviewing them individually. Though, since you came up to me about this, I realise that I just clumped them together without any chance of knowing which is good or which is bad since I just gave them the same old repetitive remarks. Thanks for the feedback though. I'll try to change things on my tags.
o yeah I was supposed to start one piece at that time, life got busier and ended up delaying the grind. Still, that shit's a commitment, will start it in the near future with a friend ig.

Now I have to ask about what that means 😂
