Just wondering if anyone out there has a large anime dropped ratio, like me. (just trying to find people who watch and experience anime, similar to me)

So I have 67 dropped, for a total of 219 entries, so that's 30.1%. (notice I asked for ratio instead of number of dropped, because people who watch more anime than me will likely have more dropped anime)

I like trying as many anime as possible to see what I like, but if I don't like it, I won't force myself to continue.

Mine would be super high if I added anything and everything I dropped after just 1 or 2 episodes, but I usually just delete those from my list. In my mind, I never really started those anime, it’s more like I was just checking them out to see if they’d be worth actually starting, so I don’t bother to clutter up my list by adding them. I think a lot of people do this, so you’ll rarely see such high drop ratios.

176/810 = 22% more or less

A better indicator is the % of dropped franchises, in order to rule out standalone entries like movies and short videos (unless you count movies dropped halfway through, but I wouldn't). The problem is that it can only be calculated manually; I did it some time ago and it was around 35-40% in my case.

I don’t understand people who have dropped no anime. I don’t like wasting time so if I get bored I drop it.

I don’t have a large ratio and I am trying to not drop much anime now to keep my dropped as little as possible. I would hate having one as large as OPs

FWIW, if I got rid of the 1 and 2 episode ones, which is 41 of them, my dropped ratio falls to 15%, which I assume is much more common, and closer to the average.

I like to have complete documentation, hence all the 1s and 2s.

171 dropped. Thats well over half the number I've actually completed. 78% ratio to be exact. I will not be surprised if someday the dropped goes higher than the completed. After all, it's a simple fact: most anime sucks.

My drop rate is high, it might be even higher than yours, but I don't add the dropped ones.

Usually I drop 10 anime per season

My drop rate is decent but it doesn't go up much nowadays because I rarely drop anything I start. I don't include anything in dropped that I haven't watched an entire episode of. Usually me "dropping" an anime is just removing it from plan to watch.

I don't list dropped anime because if I did, my dropped list would have 2000 titles. far more than the 495 I have completed. So I don't even bother listing all those dropped shows because it would make my list look ugly.

I've ratio'd a few people on MAL in my time in the forums

I put shows that I refuse to watch in my dropped section.
So I've been banned from MAL-Badges, after spending nearly two years of my time and dedication to helping out, being the club's spokesperson, and planning for the revamp, it all goes down the fucking drain. What a joke the club has become. I advise everyone to stop using the feature and stop showing their support for the site and the club. We were promised that we will see changes come to the site, and nothing's been done for the past year. I doubt the site will be touched for the foreseeable future. If you're angry and annoyed about the lack of development, then good, you should be.

It's better to drop series with neither a historical value nor legacy, thus you will not seem so controversial.

Out of 801 shows completed I’ve only dropped 7. You’ve dropped so many anime and 1 episode really didn’t giving the show a good shot, I’ve watched series that is didn’t like for the first 6 episodes and then the rest worth great and worthwhile. I don’t understand how you can hate that many shows and give so many scores of 1-4, I feel like at that point you don’t even like anime😂 I mean you watched MHA S1 for like 3 episodes and gave it a 4 then for some reason you skip to season 3 watch 1 episode and give it a 5, that make no sense. There’s also no way after 1 episode you can give a show a 1 like you did with Cowboy Bebop, is this just bait?😂

Sailor Moon, Inuyasha, One Piece and Cowboy Bepop tell me I don't enjoy 90's style animation. Gintama grossed me out with all the saliva all over the place. Steins;Gate however, is one anime I might get back into - I heard the first 8 or so episodes suck, but then it becomes a masterpiece.

To call me a "clown" for having different tastes, is a bit rude, especially for one that hides their profile.

There were many shows that are obviously not visible, but that I DID drop but ended up giving another chance and enjoying them. (dropped = actual drop or didn't touch it for more than a month, which is basically a drop) Those include Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, Sword Art Online, FMAB, Yona of the Dawn, Akame Ga Kill, etc. Mixed results on what I thought of them on the 2nd (or 3rd) chance.

Don't put too much emphasis on the rating for shows with a few watches, as I've said, I like complete documentation.

I do think I enjoy watching anime. I define "enjoy watching anime" as watching anime, that I enjoy. If I am ploughing through a show that's a 1 or 2, does that really count as enjoying? Is it really worth continuing 3 or 4 bad animes, to find 1 that you kinda like?

There's always the issues of "you should give it another chance". It's hard to tell which ones to give another chance to, but I do periodically go back and give some anime another chance. I have 41 shows that lasted 1 or 2 episodes. If I gave each one of them another chance, that's a miserable 2 weeks for me, and I might find like maybe 5 worth continuing?

MHA is a true drop, but a friend of mine encouraged me to skip ahead to S3 just to see if the plot has progressed enough for my liking. (and if I did, then I can circle back) It was better, but not good enough. If we follow the "3 episode rule", then technically I have obeyed that for MHA.

---

On a side note, it seems I am not the only one who might drop many shows, but most people do not document them. Interesting.

I like complete documentation (as I've said before), but also, if a friend of mine strongly encourages an anime, I want to give it a shot, and say I gave it a shot, and I would want it the other way around too. I don't want to be that one who when asked if I've checked out show XYZ, "no it's on my list", and to say the same thing 10 times over.

I've got 843 completed anime and my drop rate, considering what I'm watching, completed, stalled, and dropped, is about 1.4%. I don't like to drop things, and I've been going through trying to clean up my stalled/dropped recently. But, there is almost no way I'll ever finish Inuyasha or Boruto, so I doubt I'll ever get it to 0%.

I've seen some people on this forum with an insane amount of dropped things though. And I find myself secretly judging like, "Do you even like anime? You might do better with a different hobby. >_>"

I only drop shows that are both boring and average-bad.

and even with those I sometimes still finish them if they have good animation or are an ecchi.

I've dropped 12 shows and completed 259.

I think it's silly to include plan to watch in your ratio, since you don't know whether you'll complete or drop them once you actually watch them.

I have 377 watching/on-hold/completed vs 70 dropped, so a ratio of 15.6%. I guess it would be lower if I only dropped shows I stopped watching because I didn't enjoy them, but there's a decent number of shows that I specifically went into with the intention to ONLY watch a single episode and nothing else, so while they are technically dropped, I did watch 100% of what I wanted to watch of them 🤷‍♀️
