Have you ever watched just an episode of a series and not the rest? (Not dropping the show, going in with the intent to just watch that 1 episode and nothing else in it)

Watching an episode wihtout planning to actually watch the whole thing from the beginning.

IE: Watching 1 episode of a horror series simply because it's hallowen.

Or you bought a series on dvd but the dvd didn't include all the episodes, so you watched what it had and never completed the other episodes.
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

Yes, pretty frequently. There are plenty of series I know from the get-go aren't for me, but I might be in the mood for a quick peek anyways, even if I know I won't commit and have no intention to do so anyways πŸ˜…

A recent example would be Uramichi Onii-san; I knew from the trailer that it wasn't gonna be my type of humor, but then one day I just wanted a bit of age-based self-deprecation because I FELT old for once, and one episode of that show just scratched that particular itch.

Also recently, I watched a few episodes of Build Divide. I had no intention whatsoever to get invested in the technicalities of another card game anime, but the character designs were so stylish that I wanted to see at least one episode. In the end I actually enjoyed it enough to watch until the whole cast had been introduced, but then dropped it all the same because I just wanted to see all the character designs moving and had achieved my goal.

It doesn't always work though.
I had intended to only watch a single episode of Ousama Ranking to see its interesting animation, that's all. But I absolutely fell in love and ended up binging the whole show πŸ˜… Looking back, maybe it would have been better if I had dropped it as intended, because at least then I wouldn't have felt the disappointment of the ending, lol.

I did that once with Flip Flappers.

I can’t for the life of me remember why, though.

Not really. My list is pretty full and I already thoughtfully sorted what I'm gonna watch next. However sometimes I rewatch stuff at specific dates, for example rewatching Christmas episodes around Christmas.

Only on a rewatch. I rewatched just the first episode of a couple of anime and I plan to do the same with some stuff I'm currently rating 6-8.

I'm particularly curious about the first episode of FMAB, since I remember liking that anime but I also hated the terrible comedy of the last few BONES anime I've watched.

Magic of Stella might have been the only case, but I don't remember what even happens in it so I might as well try it again, for real this time...

Sometimes, it can happen because I don't really get interested or I just watched something else and something else to the point I forgot I was watching the first thing.

Yea sometimes I watch just one ep to see how it is. I dont necessarily drop it, but I dont continue it yet.

also I do get bored of a show pretty easily so I'll watch a couple of eps before switching to something else

High-school of the dead
And Ishuzoku Reviewers I skimmed through the first episode
Just to see what they're about. I guess fanservice to me just feels shallow to me, I'd prefer a great story to keep me interested, these 2 I checked because of what I heard about them, Ishuzoku Was ranked in the top ten for Mal at a time, that definitely peaked my interest

Yea I did. I've watched the first episode of Bungo stray dogs, Citrus, Tamako Market, and Hibike! Euphonium. I'll watch the rest of the episodes after I'm done with some of my selective anime.

Hmm...I do remember watching 2 and a half episodes of Naruto back then and thought "Nah, this is not for me".

And the fact that a perverted scene(episode 1 or 2? I forgot)appeared in front of my sister and grandpa is why I don't watch anime in front of my family, etc.

Still unsure if I'm gonna continue it though...

...that's primarily how i pick the next series i'll watch, i skim through the episode list and decide thereafter whether i'll watch it or not. spoilers don't bother me so there's no problem to it.

Everything in my Dropped and On-Hold lists, which I actually don't intend on dropping I actually just don't want them in my CW right now. A few in my CW are like this as well. Some have gone well past the 1000 day mark since I started them.

Yeah i usually do that while seeing popular cutscenes from internet such as last episodes of NGE while shinji doing jackshit on asuka at hospital scene or famous Makoto Itou final death scenes from School Days anime. But i didn't included that on my watchlist. I did that because i wanted to knew the context

Yes. I sometimes watch one episode of a show which I 100% won't continue. Just because I feel a sudden urge to get familiar with it and know some basis.
For example, I did it with Date a Live, Danmachi, Eromanga, Oreimo, Quintuplets etc. I knew those were shit from the beginning (no offense lol), but those first episodes worth my time and I proudly put them in my drop list, because now I have some information and can express some opinions and discuss them a bit, which I wouldn't be able to do if I completely ignored them.

It was more than one episode, but I only watched the episodes of 7DS where Escanor played a big part. Because he's cool.

In hindsight I could have just watched all his appearances on youtube but alas.

Only instance I can think of where I've done this is when I watched a single Ep. of Shinkalion which featured an Evangelion crossover. I was just curious about that one thing since Eva is one of my favorites, but I never had the intention of actually getting into the Shinkalion series. Not really a train nerd, y'know?

A decent numbers of shows in my Watching section have 1/xx episodes watched are because I wasn't in the mood to watch that certain show and decided to watch something else. Doesn't mean I dropped them just that I felt a different genre or theme was more fitting for what I wanted to watch at the time
