| So I saw a news article about a guy going viral for watching all 1200 Pokémon episodes over 6 mos and I was like “that doesn’t seem too difficult”. Then I looked at my stats and realized I’ve watched over 3300 anime episodes in 8 months. I only started watching anime in late March of this year and haven’t watched anything non-anime since that day. I’ve spent basically every spare moment consuming anime. Maybe I have a problem, but it’s just so enjoyable. I’m 41 and feel like I’ve really missed out on anime all these years thinking “anime isn’t for me”. My husband laughs at me because he’s been an anime fan since his teens and he’s pretty sure I’ve surpassed his count in just 8 months. But yeah, it’s a lot, maybe I should slow down, but I’m really loving everything I’ve been watching. It’s been a nice escape from reality. |

| Every day, you watch 13 episodes or spend 4 hours watching anime. I believe that is normal as long as it does not interfere with your studies, career, health, family, you name it. It's not bad, in my opinion. |

| I'd say don't slow down and don't stop, keep watching as fast as you can cause ultimately you will start losing interest in it so its better to consume maximum before that happens. |

| It really depends on the series. Some can be bingewatched and time flies very fast without realizing they finished already. Others pass much more slowly or after 2-3 episodes you need to take a break or else they become wasted when binge watched and you read various complaints and negative reviews. |

| I've been keeping track of my stats since I started using MAL Year 1 - 397 completed, 4545 episodes, 68.5 days, 6.77 mean rating Year 2 - 1,480 completed, 6296 episodes, 79.1 days, 5.03 mean rating Year 3 - 526 completed, 2209 episodes, 28.1 days, 5.08 mean rating You can easily boost your stats with MVs. Just calculate the average number of episodes divided by the number of entries completed. Today actually marks my 3rd year on MAL |

| I don't think it's bad, it just depends on how you organize your time. But damn I'm impressed. That's like an average of 13 episodes a day, or equivalently a minimum of 4 hours a day. As long as you enjoy it, good for you. Hope you have more fun watching more anime. |

| I don't think it's a problem. I have watched 3800+ eps from when I started watching anime in November of last year which makes it a year and it haven't affected my personal life in any way. But I would recommend to reduce the time if it affects your personal life. |

Thats between four and half to 5 hours a day watching anime if the average anime episode is 20 minutes long skipping the opening and ending credits. That leaves you 19 hours for sleep, job and social obligations. So no. That said you might have researched what anime to watch and not watch and that can take some time. |

| "is that bad?" If we ignore the whole "having a life" thing, 1200 episodes of Pokémon at once can kill your will to live...or at least your fate in humanity. |

| I'm your age cohort and have a similar anime history. I've started to watch in early 2019, and had watch time per day similar to yours. Anime is better than substance use, but 10+ episodes per day (over 3h) certainly is an addiction. Anime can fill holes in your life and may be stabilizing for a while because you have some regular activity and goals. But of course these goals are not improving your life or are good for anything real. You can use https://anime.plus/SafetyInLetters/history,anime to monitor yourself and learn about peaks. I'm myself down to a handful eps per day and still binge too much on the WEs. It's important to stay in control of your behavior, as addiction is mainly defined by loss of control over a habit. And tbh, anime is a nice filler if there isn't anything else but it should yield time to any other activity and merely serve as fallback. |

I still ask myself how? ^^' I needed around 22 years for 972 entries and since a series can have multiple entries, I watched circa 300 different series and movies, and I think I consume quite a lot. |

I have ADHD so I have a crappy memory in general so I tend to forget the finer details of some series once I finish them if they didn’t make a huge impact. If I really love a show I will usually rewatch it at some point and after that I can remember it fully. I also try not to watch similar types of shows consecutively because then plot points can blur together. I usually watch between 2 and 6 episodes during the day depending on how productive or busy I am with other things (I’m currently unemployed and my kids are in school all day). I don’t watch anything when my kids are around. Once my kids go to bed I usually watch between 6-8 eps (sometimes up to 12 if I’m really into something and not tired) before I go to bed. So yeah it’s a lot but I still manage to keep my house mostly in order and my kids looked after. I definitely will slow down once I find a new job but for now anime is kinda my happy place. |

I know this too well. I either remember all details, at least in rare occassions, or a fair enough amount of the details ... or not even what it was about. Maybe I drop so much, because all of these are anime where I exactly know, I won't remember them anyway and I can't keep my attention on them, not even if you would pay me for watching them. I'm glad you found something you like so much and give you a happy place to come back to. |

| I would say it is a high amount of anime to watch and am surprised you have not burned out but if you still enjoy it then all the more power to you. So long as it not having an adverse impact on your other major responsibilities then the volume is okay. In terms of forgetting anime one thing I have done to help me remember more of the shows I watch is to write a review shortly after completing the series. Not only do you remember stuff more clearly doing that but in the long run you build up an anime diary. Plus if anyone asks how a series was you can always refer them to the review you did earlier. |

| I've got 3 times more than you. I joined MAL in March, like you, but I was hospitalized having my mitral heart valve replaced. So for 3 months there, I'm glad I had my smartphone and good enough wifi to stream anime every hour I was awake even after going home. Leaving and being told to take it easy and I'm still considered "temporarily disabled", I had a checkup today and still told that I'm not allowed to do things and so on. We might be considered "Anime addicts" to others and my dentist rolled her eyes at me because I watched anime while she got preparations done for a dental cleaning, but my profile details how I feel about negative opinions anyway. If you think you have a problem, then I personally can't advise any help, because I don't see a problem, we still got this COVID thing going on as well. HOWEVER! If your skipping school/work over it, then yeah, you need to reevaluate yourself, because you don't want to end up homeless on-top of other problems that can build quite quickly if you fall that deep. |
