I was going through anime openings and just found out some of my favorite openings were sang by KPOP singers.

1.

2.

I have to admit, the songs are catchy, but there is something about the fans.

People who hate Kpop just coz of the fandom are just soo stupid, toxicity is in every fandom, but why worry about that? Grab whatever you can from something and be on your way.

The downside of KPop and JPop etc to me is that it is highly exploitative, toxic and filled with a lot of abuses. Lots of stories about it.

I like some of the music but that sorta stuff is in the back of my mind so I don't really listen to it. Not that I am really buying anything so it doesn't matter. Just my perspective.

I don't dislike it for any other reason though the music can be pretty good.

probably. I'm a fan of k-pop, but I tend to gravitate towards groups that don't really have a big fandom as most huge fandoms tend to be absolute assholes to deal with. with how non k-pop fans will only hear the worst of the collective fandom (eg: the whole "BTS Meal" thing, the obsessive sasaeng culture, "Stan LOONA," fancams, and much more) most non k-pop fans would be turned away from the genre right away, even though they will probably like k-pop songs as much as regular songs.

also, if anyone wants to hear more anisongs sung by K-pop acts, check these out:

Noblesse's OP by Jaejoong, former TVXQ member
Noblesse's ED by OH MY GIRL
Tower of God OP by Stray Kids
RE-MAIN OP by ENHYPEN
Black Clover OP12 by TXT
Black Clover ED13 by TREASURE
Bleach ED3 by Younha (couldn't find a video for this)
A whole anime dedicated to a K-pop girlgroup named KARA, who's also quite famous in Japan

The kpop scene is hypercompetetive. People trying out for them need to meet insane demands, especially for people who aren't even 18 yet. It's a very exploitative music scene.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The ones that are in Anime OP/EDs generally are pretty good though.

I really enjoyed Fairy Tail OP 15. So much that I went and gave Kpop another look but I still couldn't get into the music.

Then I found out there were some in Anime ops and eds, and then to my surprise, many of them were really good.

honestly, I think this applies to regular pop music as well? it's always a matter of finding the right artists that strike your fancy to me. i don't like most k-pop songs even as a fan of the genre, but there are some groups and soloists that i can count on to release great songs, just like regular pop music. unless you dislike pop as a whole, which makes my argument irrelevant, though you can always check out k-rnb or k-bands if you like those genres more.

Yes, there are definitely some toxic K-Pop fans. Soooooo toxic. But, the same can be said about anime fans too. The reality is people get way to carried away in any fandom with a significant following. It can't be avoided, unfortunately. Personally though, I actually like K-Pop, but the only K-Pop group who's music I think sound like anime music is Dreamcatcher lol (because they have strong rock elements in their music. Well, except B-sides which are VERY different from their usual sound). I was disappointed that the only OP they've done so far was for the lackluster King's Raid anime. And the fact that they didn't even use Deja Vu was like a kick in the gut T^T! (Deja Vu was a song they did for the King's Raid game. It's SUCH a great song and I wish they would have used it...)

regular pop music is better than kpop. so is j-pop, mandopop, latin pop, etc. obviously there are some good kpop out there, but the idol groups are terrible and the music is awful. im quite familiar with korean music, and I do think its good. just not kpop. there's plenty of great korean artists being overshadowed by the garbage that is kpop

TVXQ (the ones that made the one piece opening) have a good Japanese discography that I recommend checking out. Their kpop music isnt good however.

How does KPOP differ from JPOP though?
All those idols are the same overused chewing gum. Simple and uninspiring music, mindless songs with no sense, and these notorious cringeworthy group fortnite dances. This is the main reason why people hate it. It's too pretentious while actually primitive and boring.
And fans are just typical fanservice fans who prioritise fancy looks over consistency.

Yes and no. Anything can be ruined by a horrendous fanbase, but kpop is one of the biggest offenders here, considering just how rabid some of the fans can be (rumors had it that some of the fans would try kidnapping their favorite idols). That aside, I think there’s also other reasons people would hate kpop too and not just cuz of the fans, one of the reasons being the fact that the kpop industry itself is very exploitative compared to other industries (e.g. how their everyday life is being micromanaged). Personally, I don’t like kpop due to how uncreative most of the songs are, let it be lazy lyric writing to subpar music production, but that’s my take on it.

Everyone has different reasons, but I indeed know many people who came to dislike Kpop because they've been hurt or offended by the fans.

One of the general reasons (and also my case) is how Kpop fans tend to belittle Jpop artists for "not being as good as Korean artists", which is hilarious since Kpop industry is generally inhumane towards idols and trainees. They even go as far as bully Jpop fandom for reasons currently unknown to me. Plus, honestly, demographically speaking, Kpop has a great deal of young fans who have little manners and even though every fandom has a toxic side, it's literally incomparable to millions of uncontrollable obsessive teenage girls.

I'm not sure about anime fans, but Jpop fans tend to either stay away from Kpop ones or have fights frequently. My guess is that most Jpop fans enjoy anime (like they would watch the show with their fav song as an OP etc.), thus you get such an impression. I'm pretty sure simply being an anime fan has nothing to do with disliking Kpop, though.

Besides the fans the industry is really a big pile of dogshit and the fans are just the bonus of dogshit added on to the pile.

Note this does not mean i hate the music i actually enjoy some songs very much.

It's quite easy to avoid fans, and K-pop is an umbrella term to cover literally any music that comes out of Korea, there is something for EVERYONE.
People just get offended over popular stuff.

I get it if you don't like the loud/busy sound or the over the top choreographies or outfits, I can name so many artists who don't do that but they get overlooked or ignored because they fall under "K-pop"

Speaking for myself, I don't like pop music in general, Korean or not, taking 'pop music' to mean 'music from, or similar to, these top charts'. The personal and public perception of K-pop fandom and how K-pop is now mainstream in my country (Indonesia) isn't helping me at all.

It's the tale as old as time: big fandoms invite big vocal minorities which doomscrollers and algorithms like.

Late 2000s to early 2010s K-pop slaps, though.

I do like KPop songs, they do have some certain beats that makes them different. But I would not want to be associated with the stan. They're basically the similar breed to their hardcore Japanese idol fan, but lack the self restraint in public online spaces.

Maybe there's a lot of obnoxious and annoying fans, but that to a point can be ignored. However the many fishy aspects of the kpop industry are not that easy to. Its artificial popularity schemes, its treatment of idols, their unnatural growth, the heavily competitive mindset it creates and transmits to the fans (armies are... really something that exists). Maybe I'd like a lot of kpop songs if I listened to them individually, but hearing about how much of a shitty and borderline dystopic place the industry is it feels like a rabbit hole I really don't want to get into.

I just don't like KPOP. Maybe my taste in music is not in KPOP. KPOP means Korean POP, but the music is mostly EDM, R&B, Hiphop. Meanwhile, my favorite music genre is POP. In comparison, Japanese Language is easier to follow than Korean Language, so you might be able to sing the Japanese song you just listened to than KPOP. And after all, Japanese songs have music that is much more unique but still pleasant to hear. BTW my favorite Japanese artists are 48 Group and 46 Group. This is just my personal opinion.

People hate Kpop because of many reasons.
One of the reason is that the fandom is shit. Every girl screaming the names of bts guys is kind of annoying (If you have ever dealt with one in real life)
Kpop and korean music industry right now relies on makeup. Every single member of a boy band looks like a fricking girl. There is no sign of manliness or testosterone in them. As a man, this is kind of insulting. I dont mind if they are cute or thin, but there action and makeup and stuff are all feminine which looks weird.
At least I dont particularly hate their music or dance cause some of them aint half bad but hating them is almost for the same reason we used to hate one direction or other boy bands with these characteristics.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.
