THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Gugu is slowly becoming my favorite character in this show. He's fun to watch and always working hard towards whatever he's on. Plus, he's always trying to get Rean's attention.

It looks like Fushi is getting used to his new lifestyle with the others and even helping around the house. Pretty chill episode but I do expect pacing to pick up again soon.

Rean is becoming more bold by working at Booze Man's shop (just to see Fushi), but Fushi is a problem if "it" releases its power at any given moment in front of her.

Gugu is becoming increasingly aware of Fushi's powers, and testing the limits of his immortality, though a harmless experiment that's one.

Booze Man just casually extracting alcohol out of Gugu due to the extra organ that he implanted in Gugu in his belly as an alcoholic vessel for his own experiment, welp. "I just felt lke giving you an organ due to humor and fascination", that's so messed up, and he ran away because of that. So cooking and house duties are passed onto Fushi...with disastrous results. Even Grandma Pioran has to force Fushi to become human, AND FAST.

Gugu is once again working alone on his own just like his old days, with the weird mask being a cover...and except that he's labelled as a monster and given no parole of the bullying, so what to do? Parade in the town without that and look mature. The only adult he can call "Master" that is kind to insane people like Gugu, in a world where people will freak out when they see him, I genuinely feel sad for this small boy whose life is dashed in hopelessness and defeat.

The moment where Gugu saw Shin being thrown out, the deed's done with passing Rean's ring to him, and he no longer calls him Brother. Serves you right, Shin. And finally, Gugu almost got kidnapped for worse, and Fushi comes back to his aid. He learned that he cannot grow up without Gugu, they're monster brothers for life.

Repair the earnest of relationships.

It was an okay episode, although I don't care so much of Gugu or Rean. The first six episodes were much more interesting in my opinion.

That ending put a smile on my face man, monsters are indeed cooler!

That old drunk guy, what a monster he is, experimenting on gugu to bring him to life and them making him a visceral alcohol container, disgusting behaviour in all honesty, but he did save his life and give him work to do, so he's a very iffy character in my books. Initially I didn't mind him, and thought gugu was a 'monster' because his facial features were deformed, but this was quite worse than what I expected, well imagined since we still haven't seen his face in light yet.

Gugu going on the adventure by himself showed his resolve and no matter how mch he got beat down, he still got up and tried his best, even going as far to give his brother the ring he cherished - how he held onto that for so long I'll never know- but then misfortune came his way as he got kidnapped.

Fushi is stupid as usual, him doing menial tasks with such hilarity had me creasing the entire time lol, and then him coming to save gugu and saying he needs gugu to become an adult was brilliant, and seems pioran's idea was correct, as this did definitely teach fushi that he needs to seek what he wants, he can't expect to be given it, but pioran's plan did come at the cost of gugu and the potential dangers he was subjected to.

But gugu defintely came out on top again, looking like peak arnold schwarzenegger at the end eh? Jokes aside, he finally came to terms with his appearance, hopefully for the better and for a long time and I do wish he tells rynn the truth of what happened that night, and something nice happens between them two, but not hoping that much since I can almost gaurantee one or the other is going to get killed off since that's just the way this show has me, paranoid about who's to die next xD! Just me? That end teaser does have me hoping, slightly tho looool!

Okay... Gugu. He might be immortal but he still feels pain. Don't do experiments on him. Poor Fushi. That old man really put alcohol in his body and then pumped it out of him. Great job old man. XD

They learned Gugu's importance in a hard way when they had to taste Fushi's amazing cooking. LOL. Gugu really had to go through a lot in this episode. That man where he started working seemed like a genuinely nice guy. It was an obvious reaction anyone would give but he didn't mean it in the wrong way. Gugu decided to through the mask away and live a normal life.

Fushi is hilarious. I love him. He's doing everything in his own way just like a little kid. On the other hand, Gugu kept doing what he had to do even after being rejected by the whole society. Pretty sad for a little kid to live like that. Gugu finally moved from his brother Shin. He looks so pathetic abandoning a little kid like that. Serves him right. Fushi saved Gugu from being kidnapped.

Wtf is wrong with everyone in this anime. Everyone aside from Gugu, Fushi and that farmer, is a piece of shit. I haven’t been this angry over an anime in a long time. Also I hated how the creator basically made Gugu being experimented on a comedic scene. It was anything but funny, it genuinely made me angry at the series as a whole.

Beautiful episode today. Gugu learning to accept himself for who he is and get rid of the mask was powerful. He saved Rean’s life and should be proud of what he did, not sad. I think he and fushi are the perfect match for each other.

So that old man really just put an alcohol distiller inside Gugu's body? I'm not sure whether I should be impressed or not.

Man, fuck that Chan kid! The way everyone reacts to Gugu's face makes me even more curious to what it actually looks like. Although, from the OP, it looks like he will eventually get his face fixed and even lives past his childhood.

The preview seems to hint that whatever attacked Fushi in the forest is back. That can't be a good thing. That reminds me, when will we get to see Mr. Narrator again?

Man, those last few seconds of the episode was just brilliant! Banzai to monsters and screw humans.

Gugu giving away the ring plus the following monologue totally broke my heart. Good thing that there was at least Fushi to save him in the nick of time though. Also, that Danna-san was a really good person.

Not quite sure what the old man was thinking when he put an alcohol container or whatever in his stomach but hopefully he's got a better reason to share next ep.

Looks like things will be lively next episode. Eerie vibes hinted from the preview but here's to hoping that's not too bad...

So that explains why Gugu's belly got bigger after the accident.
That geezer who saved Gugu one second gives you the impression that he's a good person and the other second that he's a bad person.
I'm wondering tho, is it just the anime or is Gugu's face censored in the manga as well.

Poor Gugu I felt so bad for him, he has alcohol stocked in his body, then he left the house but got bullied and rejected, he's so kind that he gave the precious ring to his brother but right after that he got kidnapped... at least Fushi was there to save and protect him, but really it's so depressing :(

The world is being very unfair to Gugu, but I love the positivity he has. I wonder if they'll ever show us his face 0.0

This was a hard episode.. very hard on heart imo..
Tho.. villagers treating someone with a mutated face like a monster isn't relatively new or unheard of in real life.. but treating a kid like this.. well ouch..
glad that there was atleast a single person who care not for what would people say.. dude was the only glimmer of hope in this episode
and another one being the "hooray for monsters!" at the end..
all in all.. this was a nice episode..

People can be so cruel. Why does it matter what Gugu looks like? He's a kind, loyal and sweet boy who deserves better than the crappy hand that life has dealt him.

The scene where he found his brother was so sad, but he doesn't need that loser anymore cause he's got Fushi. It was so heartwarming to see Fushi realize what it meant to miss someone and how those we care about can change us as people.

Fushi has also grown. he talking more and interacting with ppl more. Whenever he says something like "wakaranai" i can't stop repeating his words. the way he talk is literally so adorable that i don't even want him to learn to talk normally. pls he can stay this way.

also that ending made me smile. hooray to monsters! humans aint shit

Honestly, this was a disappointing episode. A really good episode but I expected a lot more to happen after watching last week's preview and also given the title of this episode. Still loving the show though.

And is it just me or has the art quality been going down and some cheapening out on animation with extra long still shots as well?

An excellent episode, with excellent themes to go along.

I'd argue that it can even compete with episode one for best episode so far. Personally I opt for this episode over episode one's successful take on a redshirt. I enjoyed Gugu's efforts at resilience, after having been dehumanized, denied a place to stay due to a brat, and even discovering the emaciated state that his lost brother was in, he was still able to embrace being labelled 'monster'. However, I can see how it can be argued for episode one, since it did introduce the show on top of the nameless boy's story.

Hell of a hard time for the much needed Gugu and yet he still had compassion for his brother, hopefully he's had enough heartache from that loser.

Old man is a crackpot, I wondered why Gugu's stomach was bloated, fermentation at work lol.

I don't think anything too special happened in this episode. Gugu ditched his mask, which I thought was gonna be a sad moment but then it made him realise how useless it was. Too bad everyone hates him, I feel for the kid. Also why is the grandpa experimenting on Gugu, it's just disgusting.

It’s not supposed to be a comedic scene though, in the manga it wasn’t a funny scene at all, it was serious. I guess it’s the anime adaptation to blame for making it look like a lighter scene, sadly. But at least they showed how depressed Gugu was about it after.

Fushi is starting to become more comfortable living with the booze man, but he needs Gugu to help him learn how to clean, cook, and work. It was a bold move for Gugu to ditch the mask, but that causes more problems because the people won't even speak to him.

What an emotional and wholesome episode.. Fushi learning how to cook, clean and work but he failed at everything xD
Gugu's smol journey after leaving the house was just sad. Everyone treated him as a monster. Later he found his 'brother' on the ground and gave him the ring.
'Even If I sell the ring, I'll always be a monster''. My man is really hurt.
But at the end, Fushi saves him.

No not really "rinse and repeat", trust me I’m reading the manga and the deaths only happened a few times (more than twice yes) but the next events after those deaths are very unpredictable. Especially the current events in the recent chapters, there's no deaths anymore, but still intense.

No dude you don’t have to laugh, it's not supposed to be funny—in the manga it was portrayed as a serious scene. I don't know why the anime made it appear as if it's a comedic scene when it's supposed to be be serious 😔

Great episode again, sucks that Gugu is treated so badly because of his face but I'm glad that he moves forward despite all that.
