When it comes to daily life, would you prefer to be six feet (182 cm) and above or below five feet or below (152 cm)? Or somewhere in the middle?

Well, I'm around 173cm(5 foot 8), which is not really tall, but not really short, either.

A person taller than me can reach certain things in higher places that I cannot, but a short person can stand up in places with low ceilings where a taller person would be forced to bend over in.

My tall friends say shopping for clothes can be a bitch if you're above 6ft.

I imagine you have to be well above the flat mark tho.

I'd take 6ft, yeah.

For heterosexual men, it's probably better to be taller.
Women - specifically YOUNG women - care significantly about proportions. And since the heterosexual "market" is so stacked right now, you need every advantage you can get.

From an evolutionary standpoint, however, there's no advantage to having bigger human beings.
As we struggle to conquer the universe, space will become more and more restricted, to the point where having 2+ meter behemoths will actually be a detriment.

Which ultimately won't matter, because we will simply be designing/altering/enhancing these bodies ourselves. According to (necessary) specs. The point will come where we will simply "upload" ourselves.

In daily life, in 2021, it's... whatever.

I don't really see any advantages to being shorter. I mean, if you're 5 ft you could probably get a head start in combat by headbutting the other person's shin or something, but that's about it.

If you want to be a chad be 6"3 as a guy. I am satisfied with my 5"9 height though. The bigger you are, the more food you have to eat. Women tend to live longer in which shorter height may be a factor. Some flaws of being tall

I don't really wanna be above 6 feet or below 4 feet since both heights would face certain everyday challenges. I'm pretty happy with my height of 5'4'', maybe an inch taller would be fine as well. :)

Of course I would rather be tall, I bet I wouldn't be taken seriously a lot of the time if I was short, both by the opposite sex and people in general. And it would be another thing to be insecure about.

I would most definitely prefer being 6ft+

Society is already adapted for people of 6ft. It only really becomes a problem if you are 7ft and up, since we haven't evolved enough for that to be normal, therefore it is not a norm in society. This is not to say being below 5ft is not already adapted to society of course, since everyone is below 5ft at some point - unless you have a condition. Somewhere in the middle would also be no problem with me, since that is the average height range for everyone.

I'm short for a male 5'5. The only time I have ever felt that my height has been a disadvantage is when carrying bulky items. Having small hands makes it hard to grip large items.

Being bigger would have many advantages from an evolutionary standpoint. Running faster due to longer legs, also longer jumps, longer reach with longer arms and tall people are definitely advantaged in a fight. Of course it doesn't really mean anything in our modern world but I just wanted to point that out. Being taller can be seen as a symbol of strength wich is why women would choose taller partner. Natural selection still exist for humans to this day. People keep getting taller and taller. Since the end of the 19th century, men have gained 9 centimeters on average (8 for women).

I mean, taller people have it easier regarding reaching things and grabbing things, thus increasing convenience. But, wouldn't health problems be more prevalent in the taller group? I'm not just talking about back problems, I'm also talking about increased cancer risk and poorer blood perfusion which worsens health more often in taller people than shorter. Of course extremes of both present their own health concerns, but being taller than average seems to me to present more health problems than shorter than average.

I'm around 1.90m and outside of being able to reach some things with much more ease while cooking there isn't that good, public transport is a real pain always having to remind myself to duck my head while passing a small door is annoying and since the general height isn't that big in my country it used to be a real hassle finding shoes my size or long enough trousers that also weren't too big.

Height is irrelevant if you are successful. You guys are only looking at North America. People in world outside of that are short. Excluding Eatern Europe. I nearlt 7 feet due to uncannyness.

My point is precisely that none of those advantages actually mean anything. We are the only species in existence that can (eventually) bypass all that and simply design whatever is necessary.

I get that some people find that morally appalling, but I genuinely consider it an inevitability. Some of us may not even require bodies at all. There is absolutely no practical advantage for human beings to be stuck to these basic flesh prisons forever. Be they short or tall.

For now, we are uniquely positioned in that sense. Hopefully not forever...

I'm about 160 cm (5' 3") and I'm a guy so I already know what it's like to be short. Although I do wish I was a little taller because, well, reasons, I honestly don't mind being short very much. I don't need much food to go on with my day so that's a plus, I can crawl into small spaces, and I don't have to worry about buying new clothes since most of my wardrobe still fits me, including clothes I've had since 6th grade. I really like running, and while my height does affect the length of my strides and my speed, it doesn't deter it to the point where it's a problem, so it's fine. Also I can jump pretty high and can carry about twice my body weight, not sure if this is relevant.
The only cons I've experienced was some teasing here and there and some people thinking I'm younger than I actually am.

I feel like 6 ft is a very ideal height. It's not too tall where it impairs your daily life, but it's also not too short where it creates a blockade for your daily life.

Who the hell would choose to be five feet over six feet? I would happily shell out $10,000 if there was a magic spell that could make me six feet that seems like the perfect height. As opposed to five feet which would not only make most women consider you undatable (at least here in America) but would also cause a shit load of inconveniences in your day to day life.

My parents are both short so I'm lucky that I ended up a few inches taller than them. At 5'7 I'm still a couple inches below the national average for men which makes me shorter than 80% of them, but luckily two inches isn't TOO noticeable. Plus I'm stiller taller than like 90% of women so it doesn't really affect dating at all thankfully.

It's probably much better to be somewhere in the middle area, like 5'-6', but being in the upper range of that myself (5'10") it's really nice being able to reach stuff better and I'm fairly flexible so I can probably do a lot of stuff the shorter side can too. Only thing is that it can be a little anxiety inducing feeling like a giant when you're around shorter people, and you're pretty averse to attention.

I have been in some pretty crappy motels with awkwardly low ceilings though, and hit my head on a couple chandeliers from time to time lol

I mean, if it came down to those two I'd prefer to be 182 cm. If it was up to me, I'd just add 5 cm 'cause that would be the perfect height for me.

The only reasons I would care 'bout height are if I wanted to dunk a basketball easier or I wanted to be a professional wrestler (at least in WWE). But since idc for either of those things, my height is fine as it is~

I am barely scraping 180. So like 178-179 towards the end of the day. I'd say best universal height for a man would be 185-188. At that height you have very good proportions for any sports. Not too tall for football, not too short for dunking at basketball, very good height for fighting ( arms not that long so that you would have to only fight distance but also enough lenght to take it to distance if needed), and nice proportion for bodybuilding ( not too tall so you can actually fill your frame in but not too short to look small even when filled ).

I'm over 6 foot tall and I'd sooner drink bleach than be 5 foot or under. If you're a woman being very short or tall is not such a problem, but if you are a very short man society will treat you like a joke. Well, western society would at least. I suppose you could move to Laos or Indonesia and you'd be around average height there.
