Looks like Jotaro wants to go for the NHK cup. Sounds easier said than done but I see he is determined.

Leonardo's decision to work part time may also help grow his character more. I find this episode amusing where he's trying to keep an eye on Rei on sneaking around. Speaking of Rei, seems like she isn't afraid to speak her thoughts.

Main guy needing more training because there are many potential young gymnasts not just KajiKaji's character.

That competition's title is NHK-hai?! There seems to be some reason he wants main guy to continue (that pause).

The bully was not just ninja, but also about his father. She is not happy w. ninja actor involving. He cares about what she said, so he followed her to her school. She noticed him but not called him until she's out of the school and let her mother know about him.

It seems like grandmother knows the condition at school because she attended the previous school visiting. She doesn't want anyone go, though. Ninja actor decided to go. Wow, him not like ninja (more like butler)!

What he did made her mad and said what she truly felt. He was just worried about her.

Relation got better?!

Rachel and her mom have the same hair color, but the most interesting thing is that Grandma which is Joe's biological mother also has the same color, yeah I know hair bleaching exist but still...

About ninja, many thinks he's important figure of other countries, like a Prince, or an elite olympic athlete... but I kinda lean into more sci-fi genre, is he time traveler from the future??? That means the event that make ninja fond of Joe is not happened yet, and that is why Joe can't remember ninja.

But that bigbird is definitely belong to sci-fi/fantasy story.

Jotaro has no problem getting back into the compeititon scene, it's just that young gymnasts like Minamino are stealing the spotlight for the wave of the next generation. The NHK Cup, yup that's no easy feat either.

Rei still getting annoyed by the same bullies from her class, and even Leo's interference didn't help either. But what better way than to have him keep a close watch of her in ninja secrecy, and even that is easily foiled by the Saumrai's daughter. Both parents being high-profile meant that Rei as their only child, she's been bearing the brunt of mischievious ridicule, even if she manages to facade with her poker face.

The boon of Parent's Day, not having Jotaro around is a legit burdern to Rei, and a recurring problem. To that extent, Leo's makeover was stunning, from a ninja to a butler of sorts whilst keeping his personality and trying his best to uplift her emotions...but giving her even more unnecessary attention.

The pride of a Samurai's daughter...Rei really lashed it all out UGH, really felt it in the heart. Heartwarming episode, that's for sure.

Well, according to MAL, Jotaro Aragaki's age is 29, which still should be young. I know, sportsmen have a relatively small career span, but you see real life examples like Roger Federer winning a Grand Slam (ie, Australian Open in 2018, thus securing no. 1 title) at the age of 36. So why is there so much fuss around Jotaro's retirement at such a young age of 29?

Circumstances that linger to his "retirement" I suppose, given Episode 1's exposition of a single father-daughter family and issues with Jotaro's skillset of "that's my best and there's nothing I can best it to". Just maybe the culture in Japan has to do with the career lifespan of sportsmen, but to infer from this is unknown territory that's not the focus of the show.

I actually enjoy this anime more with each episode. Some things like the whole ninja foreigner and Big Bird are quite bizarre but at the same time it's not like I mind them, slowly I'm getting used to them and grow to appreaciate them.

I really like how the dynamics between characters are being developed, I am really curious where this story will go, especially when they don't focus on the sport factor only.

Rei is a strong girl.

Joutarou plan now is to win the NHK tournament. It's going to be difficult with all the young promising gymnast like Minamino. But I hope he wins.

Even the samurai daughter had her own problem. Fortunately, Leo came to help that little kid out of her bully. And yes, Rachel just damn too mature at her own age. She just, ah, its really hard! She must be really had so much difficulty on her young age. She lost her mom, then having a weird ninja act so out of order, then an eccentric grandma, and the last hardness a busy gymnast samurai.

A bit of shame that Jou didn't even had a time to watched her daughter at the school. But, to heck with that, Leo just had so much fun there. And i hope his arrival, and then Rachel's rage at the end kinda solved all of that kiddo's bull out of that school. Its really not cool, kids.

Ah, yeah, that smile! Keep'em up, girl! All you need to do was to smile! Must be protected, keep it shine, Leo!

IMO, this is probably the best episode of this series so far. Glad I decided to watch this anime this season since I think it’s one of the more underrated and under-watched ones this Fall. Hoping MAPPA does a good job with future episodes.

Damn Rei really snapped after the whole Parent Day thing. I can't blame her though, she doesn't really have anyone "normal" to bring. Her dad is a famous gymnast, her grandma stands out too much, and her mom is dead (but I'm sure she would have stood out as well since she was a famous actress). All she had left is this weird eccentric ninja lol so I can see why she would be so frustrated. I'm glad they managed to work things out in the end though.

Man, what a fantastic episode. I am glad the Rei bullying has stopped. Despite Leo's good intentions, it wasn't necessarily the best course of action. At least it pushed Rei to the edge and finally made her speak her mind.

Rei is such a great character I really like her. And she's really mature for her age too, and Leo's and Rei's friendship has gotten stronger too. That smile at the end was great.

Onwards to the NHK Tournament.

This was a nice episode :) I've never seen anything quite like this is a sports anime; a characters family being affected by what they do (parents and family members usually aren't even shown in most)

Nice episode. Well ... the bullying was interesting. And I'm glad they resolved this early. Would have been annoying if the others hadn't noticed anything for a lot of episodes.

Leo noticed. But he really is stupid. It is common that bullied kids don't want their relatives to know. Pretty nice how MAPPA kept the chars consistend though - and still managed to write a good solution to this.

So in the end Rachel actually talkd to Leo - and got angry. (And not a big deal to talk to him.) She must have somehow managed to ignore that there were the others nearby. (To whom she normally would not have talked that openly.)

They of course - for the first time - regognized how much they hurt her.

---

And where has this with the mother/grandmother been mentioned? Yeah on MAL it says the old grandmother is Jotarou's mother. But is this from an official source? (Official website?) Or has it been mentioned in the series? (I don't remember every dialogue.) I always thought she was the mother of the mother (actress). Because of the similar hair color.

Well ... the family names seem to be the same. But since she was a famous actress it could have been that he had taken the name from his wife.

Really solid episode. Even better than the last in fact. Leo is a total sweetheart, with Rachel's best interests at heart. This episode really helped flesh out both characters in meaningful ways. Leo finally moved on from just being a silly sidekick into something more substantial.

The situation itself is pretty tricky. If you tell Joutarou that his daughter is being bullied, it could ruin his chances of a comeback ass the guilty would be too much for him to bear. But if you don't tell him his daughter is emotionally distraught because of his actions, it would be insensitive. Luckily Leo came in and helped her out.

I think the fact his daughter was also affected by his decision helps bring weight to it making it more believable.

Overall I really liked this one.

Normally I like this sort of offbeat show, but the characters have zero charm. I just can't find anything to like in them, and this is clearly more character driven. The plot has barely appeared. I'm glad to see stuff like this instead of the umpteenth isekai, but I'm done with this specific one.

Rei is such a mature little girl. She deserves all that's good.

Overall, pretty sweet episode and all but Leo's method could have made the whole bullying issue a lot worse if things were a bit more realistic. Anyways, that didn't happen here and I'm glad to see Rei managed to speak her mind instead of bottling up her emotions as usual.

This ep was actually pretty sad. My heart aches for Rei cause she lost her mum when she was so young and she's had to be mature for a long time already. I can imagine with Jotaro & her gran working she must have been very lonely too. I'm so glad she has Leo in her life now. Their relationship is my favorite thing about this anime cause it's so sweet ❤

Bro does leo not know what normal is my guy is acting a bit too dumb at times for my liking I know he means well but come on act a but more down to earth like come on was he sheltered or something I definitely believe he was sheltered hence why those guys in black suits was looking for him because my guy just doesn't act like a regular person I know character troupes exist but nah this isn't it chief, anyway it seems like it ended on a good note so oh well that's nice but I really wish leo doesn't continue to be dumb throughout the whole series

Wow, I actually really like Rei as a character. Like, I wasn't sure how they'd handle her. However, she's actually really interesting to follow. I love how she has a lot of faith in and admiration for her father. And it seems like it's not just on a surface level either. She recognizes his hard work, so it's not even just a "daddy has a cool job" type of thing.
I also like how, when pressed, she will speak her mind like she did here. Like really, she's got her faults and yet she has her strengths. She's pretty good. I hope they keep exploring her character.

I particularly liked this episode; it was more focused on Rei and all the teasing she had to go through. I have got to admit that she is way more mature for her age and she loves her dad and is very proud of him. Leo is a kind guy, he tried to help Rei and, in the process, made the bullies realise their mistake and pulled out the Ninja Art – Dogeza. The background music is something I find unique and pleasant in this show.

I'm glad Leo managed using his ninja skills to not get caught by the fbi for staring at elementary kids in broad daylight. You gotta love the effort he puts into being a big brother figure and even causing Rei to speak out whats on her mind instead of holding it in.

This episode is very lovable especially the Samurai's daughter actually has a character development.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.
