Now many will say Code Geass but so do I. The best Mecha Anime I have ever seen in my life! With it I also liked Darling in the FranXX. It's a great Mecha Anime too with strong Romance <3

Uchuu no Stellvia. It was cute, funny, had lots of slice-of-life elements, wrapped in a nice story that was almost grimdark.

Technically, Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex has a "Mecha" tag, so...I guess it's my favourite ?

And for a pure mecha anime, I'd say Promare
(I haven't watched TTGL yet)

Eureka Seven and Code Geass.

I see a lot o people talking about Darling in The Franxx but tbh, i was enjoying it but the author started pumping weed in his veins at the last 5-6 episodes and it was just a mess imo, that giant Zero-Two still gives me nightmares.

Uhm... immediately thought of Neon Genesis Evangelion, how wasn't it mentioned yet I don't know. And it's my favorite because I think it's got interesting themes, great characters. An amazing op. The designs of the EVAs are great... many things.

I’ll say the most controversial answer:
Attack on Titan, it’s basically meat Mecha anime.

Darling in the FranXX had a great OP. Kiss of Death was a great theme as well. Posted below for anyone who hasn't seen it.

I found Promare to be a totally mediocre if I'm honest, but TTGL was an absolute banger. TTGL and DitF are definitely my top 2 mecha shows, but that might change up a bit once I get Patlabor/Code Geass/Full Metal Panic/etc watched.

Full Metal Panic! is so far the best mecha anime that i have watched. it is Far superior to train wrecks like Guilty Crown or Darling in the franxx.

Maybe, haven’t watched it, but AOT is by logic kinda like a Mecha since there are still people inside Titans, don’t know who pilots the machines/cyborgs in Inuyashiki

It may not be the best mecha, but I pick Video Warrior Lazerion despite its many issues, mainly due to nostalgia. At least the Japanese version made me forget our atrocious local dub. Nice ED too and the first blonde girl I felt attracted to. Not shown complete unfortunately in Europe.

My favorite is Gurren Lagann but I've liked a lot every mecha I've seen so far:

- Giant Robo the Animation: The Day the Earth Stood Still
- Eureka7
- Neon Genesis Evangelion

Why is Gurren Lagann my favorite mecha? Well I don't want to wtire much but I'll say that it is very uplifting, fun and bombastic, a lot of style points and it left a very good impression on me. I still remember it fondly despite having seen it already 2 years ago. Note that it is closer to a super robot than an actual mecha (like Giant Robo).

Ye, I know, but AOT is controversial because some people don’t like when it’s called Mecha anime, they feel like Titans are different from Mechas as they are literally just extended meat and muscle of the person controlling it, they are basically genetically the same being.
Im not saying that AOT is the first or the only bio type Mecha.

The lack of Gundam ITT is quite ironical considering it's probably the one with the purest "mech" essence compared to the other mentioned series that diverge on other aspects rather than heavy focus on the mech itself.

man theres a lot for various reason. first would be the gundam uc timelime. the designs of the mech and ofcourse its plot and NGE not entirely because of mecha but all of it. second would be code geass, cause of the story with the addition of mech and lastly tengen toppa gurren super robot show

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. It’s also probably my favorite anime. The characters are all fantastic and I love how it literally went from 0 to 100. Also the themes of overcoming loss and becoming your best self by taking inspiration from the people who are most important to you were some very well presented themes. The music is fucking stellar as well.

For me it's Suisei no Gargantia. It has a certain charm, and kinda reminds me of some of Asimov's novels

Also Heroic Age, because it's a space opera with strong themes. Reminds me of StarCraft

Tenkuu Danzai Skelter+Heaven

Because it's soooo deep. People say Evangelion is so deep truly doesn't understands Tenkuu Danzai Skelter+Heaven.

Honourable mentions and more serieus answer:
Ghost in the Shell: pleasant watch. Indeed some good eye candy.
SSSS.Gridman: I liked it's ridiculousness of the kind of cartoons I watched as a kid and of course the thighs from Rika.
Beast Wars Second Chou Seimeitai Transformers and sequal: The original Hasbro series was my childhood, so I gladly accept these Japanese spin-offs aswell.

Haven't watched much Mecha aswell, but slowly I'm starting to open up for it compaired when I was younger that I pretty much avoided mecha anime.
