I don't. The huge amount of black-and-white morality, strawman arguments, and outright lies just killed any trust I would have on any critic. I still read/watch reviews, but only to see what the person has to say, rather than decide wheter the thing is worth buying or not.
I even have the tendency to read reviews of things I already have, because it makes easier to catch the bullshit some critics pull off.

No. I'll generally still read/watch reviews just to get an idea like you said. But at the end of the day it won't affect my rating/enjoyment of something.

No, tbh I think what I think, fuck all the other people that give there opinions, I don’t give a fuck. On the real though I rather just see for myself then trust another person I don’t even know, blindly.

Tbh I dont trust my own reviews.^^

On the other hand I don't even read 10/10 reviews most of the time because it's 90% overrated bs if the show has a rating of 8 or higher.

If there are only reviews with a 8-10 rating I actually ignore them and search for the 4-7 reviews which are more honest most of the time.

The higher the rating of the anime is the less trustworthy are the 9-10 reviews.

I don't trust youtubers because all they care about the hype.
I don't trust the majority of mal reviews, because they're singing praises claiming everything is perfect.
I usually search for the review with the lowest score, which tends to be honest.

No I dont even tho it cant be helped I get really pissed off somehow bc most of the critiques I see just shit on the anime they try to review instead of showing some praise while giving constructive criticism

When I take a sneak peek at a certain review with no spoilers before i watch the anime its mostly some negative review but I end up liking or loving the anime, how many times did this happen? prolly alot of times and i dont think theres one time I agreed with whatever I read lol

I don't think so, because opinions aren’t written in stone. What I'd do is probably read those reviews, try to see the show(depends on the show too) and decide if his/her opinions based on their reviews were accurate.

I rely a lot on reviewers to determine whether I should watch something or not, but I don't necessarily decide because of what the review thinks. Like the reviewer is going to be different from me, right? So I keep the differences between what the reviewer likes and what I like in mind when I'm reading/watching their review. So long as I can trust that reviewers are truly conveying how they feel about it as their opinion then I can probably get something out of the review.

If they use too many conclusive statements without connecting the dots to what they tend to like and not like … that could be a turnoff.

I used to read reviews criticizing titles that I liked to look at something the other way around, but I quickly realized that instead of constructive criticism, you can just read nonsense in them and I realized that even as a fan of some anime I could write a better critical review than they did.

No because half of the popular reviews are just mindless essay's that just throw a few buzzwords here and there, compete to see who can type the most words and feel like they're only top rated because of the user writing them lmao

but some reviews are nice and I do trust their evaluations even after watching the series

I trust the reviewers, as long as it has a lot of votes I will rate it based on their reviews. However, if I have decided to rate it, let's say 3 I will look for a review that gives the same rating. I don't hesitate to vote either, as long as it matches my thoughts.

Overall I don't, but I still value their opinion more than the most of the public. Trusting the public and not the critics is exactly why Crunchyroll Awards is a complete disgrace and must not be supported. Last year I was so disgusted by that shit that I had to at least do an Award by myself. In comparison, The Game Awards might have flaws, but for the most part, they choose acceptable winners.

I occasionally read reviews to get a rough idea of what something might be like before I watch it. Do I trust them? Depends on who writes the review, but I only use reviews to manage my expectations (especially when deciding between programmes I want to watch) - I've never avoided a series because it got a bad review. I've seen programmes that have been torn to shreds by reviewers, but which have actually been pretty good when I've watched them for myself, so discretion is always advisable.

Trust, as in believe everything they say to be true? No. For one thing, it's impossible, since they often say opposite things. You can't believe all of them in the same sense at the same time. Even before touching on the subjectivity of opinions you need to listen to common sense.
But heed, as is take into account and consider what they say? Sure. Reason: expecting your own judgment to exhaust all there is to see in a given anime (or anything) is pretentious, if not plain delusional. If you don't hear other people's opinions your world is very, very small.
So I heed reviews just as I read other people's comments in forums like this one. And I post my own opinions expecting other people to read them in the same spirit, and would write reviews if I had the skill and time and wasn't a lazy dog.

Absolutely, and reading the reviews after you do finish a series is great because you get to spend time reflecting on what you saw - like going with friends to a movie! And if I don't enjoy something I always like to find a review that maybe is similar to my own thoughts and gives me a laugh.

I don't really understand what you meant by trusting a review. Does it mean deciding if an anime is worth to watch because of the reviews I read? But even one series has differentiating opinions, so of course I can't decide that just by reading a review. But there are things to consider by reading reviews, so in that case I guess I trust what reviews said to an extent.

Depending on who makes the review or critique.

Some opinions (gaming journalism for example) are litterally irrelevant because they are bought and rarely accurate.

But it there is a reviewer that you understand and share tastes with their review might help you

Well sponsored reviews for example

Moist critical made one for god of Highschool.
And although his ratings are often hit or miss giving 80% to a 3/10 anime seems like a bought opinion to me

It's just 80% because crunchy roll sponsored the review

I think that kind of thing is what they are talking about when saying to trust or don't trust a review

No. Most of them are half-assed blog posts consisting of useless straw-men and dumb ad-hominems. You seldom find any review that actually gets to the point and honestly gives an un-biased critique of a show.

For me to trust a critic requires them to have a pretty consistent and storied backlog that tells me that not only are their tastes consistent, but that they operate on a specific set of standards that don't move because of any biases or sponsorships. I really enjoy watching reviews just to hear other perspectives but at the end of the day my opinions are usually largely unchanged by them unless I hear some super compelling and thorough arguments to the contrary of my beliefs.

Nope because peoples tastes are different. Some of my favourite shows, reviewers are giving twos and threes. There’s nothing wrong with that, just saying that it’s untrustworthy because people’s tastes are just super different.

You don't read reviews to trust them, you read reviews to compare and contrast the premises to see what kind of conclusion you would come up with if you saw what the author was describing. Reviews are not a passive sport. Reading is not passive in general. You don't read a novel and process, "Well, person A did X and went to Y." Whoopedy-doo! You think critically, why did person A do X and go to Y. You draw from your own experiences on what person A might be thinking. You try to extract nuance and subtext to see how this fictional work could benefit your own experience.

If you have to ask, "Should I trust JK Rowling or George Orwell?", you're doing this wrong. Lazy people want reviewers to hand them the facts on a platter, as if they have magical capabilities to telepathically project a hologram image. They don't. Lazy people want reviews to be objective. They can't. Lazy people want to just trust reviewers, and are shocked when they find out that no one in the world has their exact taste.

I read them out of habit when I got nothing to do. I'm neutral and just want to see where the reviewer is coming from. I neither feel the need to correct, trash them, or congratulate if I agree with them. You can say, I just like listening/ reading about people and their passions be it negative or positive. But to answer the question, no, I don't do blind trust. I have to experience something before I form my own opinion on it.

I only really even check reviews if it's for a show that's low-rated but I still think the premise sounds cool. If the reviews are low because of something technical, like animation, then I probably won't watch it. If it's because it wasn't the type of plot/pacing they liked, I'll probably still give it a try.

I only like to read reviews when I want to see what other people have to say about a show, it never influenced me to like/dislike a series in any way.
Who are you and why do you show your hostility towards a complete stranger whom you've not once spoken with before. Are you seriously asking to get blocked? Well, if that's what your intent is; to tempt me into throwing hands with someone as lowly and insignificant as you, then i may grant your wish provided you articulate yourself a bit better when trying to spite a person of my wavelength.
