As many have pointed out, couldn't care less about the story, not before the break and now even less. For the rest, it was kinda cool, but watching the finale so many months later definitely killed the hype for me.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

Episode 12 was ok. Animation quality was better than the first 10 episodes. Plot was still terrible and character development was almost non existent and felt forced. Also Enterprise deus ex machine does get on my nerves a bit. Other shipfus should have had more screen-time in battles and at least come close to power levels with Enterprise. Overall, I thought it was ok. Enjoyable if you have played the game. If not, why the fuck are you even wasting your time here.

Plot: 5/10
Characters: 6/10
Animation: 7/10
Sound: 6/10
Overall: 5/10

Too many scenes involving overrated murican ships like enterprice and clevland ruined the whole show for me. There are 300++ shipgirls in AL but they chose to focus the story on garbage and annoying murican ships (there's some scenes with Sakura Empire and Iron Blood but that's barely enough). Also I don't get why they need to pair Belfast and enterprize because they just didn't match and felt like forced unnecessary fanservice just to draw casual viewers (because Belfast is just too dedicated to Commander as her master after all). The animation quality of the action and battle scenes is also subpar and sometimes weirdly animated like Takao vs Sheffield one

Nevertheless, Azur Lane is still far far superior than Kancolle in terms of character designs and gacha rate of the mobile game. But it's a shame that I enjoyed Kancolle anime far far more than Azur Lane anime

The plot is what definitely ruined the series to be fair. Not that the mobile game has a superb one but, for an anime adaptation, it could have been way better. The biggest mistake was making Enterprise the MC imo. There were a lot of ships that could have appeared also...

Oh well, at least Bismarck showed up

Sparkly, colorful and pretty but underneath it all it feels bland and gray with mediocre to mostly annoyingly bad characters, predictable meh story.

FFS 12 episodes, 9 months of wait to get just 1 shot of BEST GIRL BISMARK!!!!

Let's be honest it's a OK adaptation made for the fans of the game and to so much for mainstream, global public. As such it was not bad, but but great neither.

6/10 because of great OP, nice soundtrack and good fan service.

Pretty decent episode. Enterprise was by far the best thing in this anime especially when they introduced her yellow eyes version. I liked that talk Enterprise had with what seemed like her future self, that was really interesting.

All the stuff with Kaga and Ayanami was cringe but thats par of the course with these things. It was obvious from the very beginning they'd work together to beat the Sirens.

I like the idea that Enterprise is the leader of them all. Always liked her. Hood got a little bit of a speech towards the end there as well. Its funny how Enterprise LITERALLY ONE SHOT OROTCHI! XD Im just remembering at the end of Kantai Collection where it took everyones barrage to defeat the airfield princess. Kantai Collection definitely had better villains. The abyssal were ominous and creepy whereas the Sirens were kind of goofy. Probably since they're trying to go more lighthearted with the bright colour scheme and over abundance of comedic loli characters. Thats probably why I liked Enterprise so much over everyone else cause she was different.

Also Enterprise X Belfast FTW!!

Still wasnt worth the anime season wait but nothing could be worth that wait so oh well. It still ended nicely enough. Between this and Kantai Collection Ive still got to give it to Kantai Collection for its more realistic combat without magic but they both have their own charms. I just love Fubuki too much and that salute she gave at the end still stays with me. Im happy Azur lane did something similar with Enterprise.

Welp, with this, "Jesus Enterprise-sama and Her Merry Worshipers - The Animation" has come to a close, with a disappointing finale which was not worth waiting for 3 months. In the end, E-sama oneshotted Orochi or whatchamacallit final boss-like boat and solved all problems single-handedly, while all other girls barely did anything except awing the Messiah and chanting praises a peanut gallery like they're should be.

6/10 overall. A score decreased from 9/10 bit by bit, all because of Enterprise. AL anime really did come a long way, altho in a bad meaning. The supposed-to-be-sad edgy war girl who's afraid of the sea got zero character development from start to finish, making her super unrelatable and likability dropped down to minus. She showed a teeny tiny bit of development at midstory but Belfast, who was reduced down to a mere pathetic Enterprise fangirl, said "no". As for all other girls, swap them with potatoes and the story won't hurt one bit, because they're just 'there' for the sake of being there.

The only saving grace for this show was some SoL moments (and fanservice) like in episode 6, plus Unicorn and the starters whose subplot's still weak and doesn't make a lot of sense, but my love for them from the game was carried over so my opinion's a bit biased here. If I neglect this, AL anime will easily turn up as 4/10, the same as KC anime.

If we compare this to KC, both shows failed miserably in their respective anime versions.
- KC made a fatal mistake of trying to shoehorn the commander (the player), and all girls turned up as "we did this incomprehensible shit because our commander told us to". AL didn't make this mistake but instead, made one of putting Enterprise on a pedestal, too much that it's unbearable, resulting E as an unlikable character.
- Both anime made the wrong protagonist choice. At first, I thought Fubuki was pretty boring but now, I think she's still better than E. More like E's character was written so bad in anime. I don't remember her being this edgy and solemn in the game. Here, she's just repeating "war never changes hurr durr durr" over and over.
- KC gave Fubuki and Yuudachi their remodel in anime. AL anime didn't even mention retrofit concept, let alone giving any of the ships one. KC wins hands down in this aspect.

Both shipgirl shows can still redeem themselves in their upcoming KC Season 2 and AL Bisoku Zenshin adaptation, which has a good start because both shows have right protag choices this time. If they fail (again) here, shipgirl genre will be no more, at least for anime adaptations. To those who still have some love to AL franchise (and who've read this shitty long post up to this point), even if you don't want to try the mobile gacha main game, I'd recommend Azur Lane Crosswave on PS4 and PC. The gameplay is shit very simple and lacking, yes, but the story is somewhat spiritual sequel to the anime and all girls get their fair share of screentime, and their true personalities (faithful to the mobile game) took quite a shine. I mean, E is like a different person there compared to her anime persona. I'd still give it a solid 7/10.

6.46 (MAL score), huh? Serve you right, kinda. I feel like an idiot for defending this show at early episodes, blinded by my love for the game. Princess Connect Re:Dive, another one of my favorite gacha's anime adaptation is coming this season but I'll keep my standard low. Better not make this mistake again.

Finally finished.

The anime isn't that bad really, just had some issues down the line.

It's pretty much just like all other Game to Anime series, they tend to be just done to promote the games. (where most of them implements mechanics from the game into the anime) (you can tell if you look at all other Game to Anime series, they all have the same reactions from ppls)

This series put some mechanics, such as the cube and some of the character's backstories.

But overall the anime didn't make a lot of stuff clear, which is why some ppls gets confused. Which in turn gives it a bad rating.

___ ___ ___

Well, at least we know Yostar started up their own Studio for the other Azur Lane manga. (Slow Ahead)

even tho the studio is made up of people from previously well done series, it's still a new studio, so we won't really know how they'll do until we see it.

___ ___ ___

Also, guess Enterprise is the "Shikikan aka Commander" in the anime at the end, LOL.

Quite an underwhelming finale. The first half was much better overall. This final battle is even outclassed in my opinion by the battle between Azur Lane and the Red Axis on that abandoned island. I remember being so excited seeing the battleships firing away back in that battle, but this final one just showcased a lot of shipfu interaction and putting the spotlight on popular shipfus (which wasn't bad, like I liked the Ironblood segments especially Prinz Eugen's). But the entire episode felt rushed.

All in all, it was an okay or good series. Its greatest success was making me curious about what the game is and now I still play it almost every day. And perhaps that was the purpose, a show to get more people to play the game and also to give some fanservice to the existing players, which I guess makes this a successful series if we measure it by its objectives.

I personally would've preferred more action and a more serious tone, but I guess that'd be a bit weird for a moe anthropomorphic series like this lol

Azur lane works under the same method of storytelling as death stranding - everything has to be explained 4 times and at the same time there is literally no context for anything that is currently happening. I felt like I was suffocating while watching the main loli quartet repeat the same lines about war being bad over and over and over and over and over. Every single episode same talk. Not to mention the animation which was so horrible at times that they decided to postpone the last 2 episodes a few months and guess what, the animation is still bad....
I can pick very few anime from the top of my head that are worse or/and as boring as this game adaptation. It deserved better.

nani the fuck happened?

- Oh well, the first 5 episodes I enjoyed a lot.
- Episodes 6,7 and 8 were bad and the art quality+animation dropped considerably specially in these three episodes.
- Episodes 9 to 12 had its up and down with an underwhelming ending. Some rushed moments starting the second half of the anime.

A few funny scenes that curiously worked on me.

So....

Can anyone explain to me why they didnt just adapt the first part of the game?

Like holy shit this trainwreck of a story was worse than FGO's first chapters.

I was so lucky that Enterprise was my first ship. Both in story and as an in game waifu she was never this edgy and retarded.

"War ever changes and everyone will probably die....so I wont fight that way everyone will die for sure."

Makes sense I guess if you are working in that studio.

The writers got too overly ambitious and thought throwing in every random elements in a blender would be a good idea, there was a tweet where he apparently said that the relationship between Belfast and Enterprise was heavily inspired by an American hero and his butler (referring to batman and Alfred) which disappointingly turned out to be forced yurish*t baiting not to mention it didn't even build enterprise's character at all, oh also this is the same writer that wrote the garbage ending of guilty crown anime, so yeah......this anime was doomed from the start with a shit plot and bad character writing, you can thank him for that overused cliche dialogue as well lol

Btw Enty was my first oathed shipgirl in the game as well, and seeing her getting this butchered and turned into a overpowered Mary sue kirito with an edgy personality was infuriating to watch, I doubt the clown writers even played the game for at least a few hours before making this dumpster fire adaptation...

"Wars.. Wars never change.. But now.." Hm.. But isn't we getting some other view on the war now?.. And maybe trying to save someone, rather than fight with intentions of killing?..
Yeah, now we indeed have long range missiles..
Hm.. Sirens look like maybe they're acting as a common enemy so that humanity doesn't destroy each other by themselves.. It's a bit too in far going theory, though, of course..
Well, hope that Akagi and Kaga will work out their relationship in the end.. Hope they trust each other more in the future.. They already had their moments together.. Though, they also share some pain, and hurt each other as well.. In the end I hope that it works out for them with time..
So Enteprise is going to rule, and Belfast is going to be her personal maid ship?.. Well, sounds like Enterprise became an admiral and Belfast became a secretary ship.. ;p Hope, their relationship will grow more.. And maybe even some night battles await.. ;P

Overall, it was a great anime.. I liked how anime did, what it wanted - showed the life of ship girls.. Showing both the light side of it and the dark side as well.. The despair and pain which comes from the war, not wanting to fight enemies, who are also persons.. And not wanting to get your dear ones, your close ones hurt.. Or lose them.. On the other hand, there is light with ship girls in the end being able to live their lives, despite a war.. And even in war remaining hopeful that they are protecting everyone.. I really liked the talks between Enterprise and Belfast.. The two sides of the coin of the life of ship girls.. Their life is light and dark at the same time..
Again, I very enjoyed the anime.. If ever second season comes, or a movie, I'd want to watch more of it..

Decent adaptation from a mobile game, the animation sure had some beautiful moments but also some inconsistencies. Fairly simple plot, which kind of made some episodes boring, but I guess this is more of a fanservice anime where you can see your favourite warship girl in action

I enjoyed it overall, most of the characters were represented well in terms of personality - except extra edgy Enterprise, and the lack of basis for the friendship power being so strong between Laffey/Javelin & Ayanami. Without the conflict, it could have worked on the simple premise of meeting once and wanting to be friends, but no so much under the circumstances. The conflict though is probably one thing the anime as a whole could have done without. If they'd fully committed to just being a showcase for the game and gone with a slice of life approach I think it would have been more appealing, even to non players

Still, it entertained me and that's all I require from an anime. Could have been better if done differently, but personally didn't seem like a waste of my limited downtime (which is even more severely limited than usual at the moment >.<)

I can't believe I actually had to force myself to fnish this anime. Enterprise really killed it for me, and her getting even more plot armor (and plot gun lol) in that last episode made me want to stop it midway.

On the bright side, Nimi finally joined started pack. Just why the hell they made Unicorn hang with them all the time?

My opinion probably is biased, but the strongest side of this anime is just seeing all my girls hang out and play out their characters or just say their in-game lines (Nagato line made me smile). Story was bad but if it didn't get ruined by Enty and, to lesser extent, friendship power, it'd be tolerable. Tbh they should've just adapted one of the event stories and it would turn out much better.

It's pretty sad that, despite being really good and F2P friendly game, Azur Lane always has such poor promotion - from clickbait ads to meh adaptation.

The final battle continues and things get more intense.
The action of this last episode looked pretty decent, of the salvageable moments was how Enterprise destroys the missile, the headbutt that Zuikaku gave to Kaga to make her react and finally my favorite was when Queen Elizabeth and Nagato arrived with more reinforcements, two fleets with small, adorable and charismatic leaders. Another moment that made me laugh a little was when poor Edinburgh was hit with the head of that irritating Siren.

The rest was ok, seeing how both sides were fighting against the massive amount of Sirens was epic in a way, seeing how Enterprise solved almost everything was to be expected, but it didn't bother me.

The post battle scenes were quite nice, like seeing Yorktown standing and recovered and how both sides lived in harmony, I laughed at how Ark Royal enjoyed the scenery with all those new destroyers at the base or how Hood looked elegant in the tea ceremony organized by Souryuu.

The anime felt it more than anything like a 12-episode commercial for the game, it left many unfinished things and I assume that during the game the doubts will be clarified

I think I felt short with the few ships that appeared from the Iron Blood fleet, even the expected appearance of the famous Bismark was a scam, but finally Azur Lane has ended, but for me this is not over yet, I will continue this adventure with those Ship waifus from my smartphone.

On a separate note, I would have loved to see the Essex-class ship girls lively and in action, the same with Baltimore and Bremerton, but I'm satisfied with what I saw.

what can i say i LOVE Azur Lane so it finally getting an anime got me really happy

and while there was somethings that was a bit like could have been better i still really enjoyed their first attempt at an anime

remember reading that the makers of azur lane got their own animation company now so they can have full control over things so it really makes things very promising if they decide to ever make more anime

so all in all i enjoyed this, it was good, and it made me very happy to see a good amount of the girls from Azur Lane in anime form like this (though still was hoping for certain others to show but hey if any more anime comes they very well may be in it)

as for now will continue enjoying the mobile games JP/Global

and hoping hopefully more anime will come

Is it bad that I re-watched the entire anime without skipping anything then when it came to the final fight I skipped 2/3 of it? XD. Honestly was just like "Yep.........yep.........power of friendship, Hmmmh. Band together, win the day, horay" *Skip* Honestly my enjoyment of Azur Lane kind of just kept flipping per episode since it goes one episode action, one episode slice of life. The slice of life parts where Belfast or Enterprise were involved I liked but all the Javalin and Laffy stuff was just a bit meh. And that sadly makes up half the anime. It was just all so cliche so re-watching it I definitely felt that way more than when I first watched it.

But honestly that Enterprise moment LMAO.

Kantai Collection's Fubuki: "Im pretty important to the plot but I still need help"
Azur Lane's Enterprise: "IM A GOD!!" *One shots the final boss with no help*

LMAO. Cant believe Enterprise one shot the final boss. Im just re-watching this and seeing them build up Orochi as this great threat then Enterprise like "Bow go pew" dead. LMAO!!!!! I can imagine the people complaining this anime was praising Enterprise too much wont be happy with this XD.

Renkini said:

Its hilarious how accurate this statement is.

Yeah, even after a re-watch my opinion of this series is still a "Meh, its good." Its the most "Good" you can get. Its like a casual good you'd re-watch for some chill. By the end though I really couldnt be arsed to re-watch the Javalin scenes. They were the most cliched. That huge gap in the last few episodes REALLY hurt it and I can see a lot of people agreed.

Still prefer Kantai Collection over Azur Lane. Just felt better to me in pretty much every way. I did like the actual ships being there in AL though. And Belfast X Enterprise, but thats about it. Much prefer KC's more serious tone and cool af enemies. I feel Kantai Collection had a lot more likable characters but I think thats just up to my personal taste.

Well, I finished my re-watch for Belfast X Enterprise and it was cute. Now Im gone lol.

Lol, I completely forgot about this show up until now, I'm glad I finished it though, I rarely leave an anime unfinished unless its really shitty. For that matter, this anime is not that shitty that I didn't drop it, but it isn't in any way good as well, apart from the sexy girls and fanservice. 6/10 for an aircraft carrier shipgirl riding an aircraft.

For what it was worth of having an anime of a mobile game and such this wasn't all that bad. The generic theme in it certainly was there but it wasn't that bad either.

So all in all it was a nice watch I must say.

Nice graphics but stupid plot
I think Javelin is more suitable to be MC
Ship can fly is weird

IIRC,in Bisoku Zenshin, Javelin would also be a Protagonist

I'm actually kind of impressed by all of this. The animation quality was trash, the pacing was a mess etc, but this concept of Amagi having been underhanding the Sirens and using them to bring Enterprise and Akagi together along with everyone else in order to beat the Sirens, was pretty well played.

Wasn't as bad as I was expecting, I guess not having any prior exposure to this franchise played a big role. Didn't care so much about the Enterprise/Akagi/Kaga drama but the battles and cgdct was fun to watch. The art quality and the character design were top notch and very easy to look at.

Good finale.

Overall, a cute show. I liked all the yuri moments the most.

I've played the game since early 2019 so I'm a sucker for characters saying lines from the game (I am Nagato! for example. Note: the link is for a soundclip!). I'm also surprised how much screentime best girl Takao got (and also best girl Souryuu and best girl Ise and some other best girls.) Not a lot but still more than expected.

Overall I'm happy with the end result. I'm possibly desensitized by a lot of people complaining that it's crap and yuribait, to the point were I expected a lot more Our Saviour Enterprise and her trusty girlfriend/maid Belfast. It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected.

It's really not bad. I've quite enjoyed it, though predictable but what isn't these days. The war theme was done well. I will 1 extra points just for beautiful girls. OST was good as well. Safe ending, but not bad at all.

4/5 It wasn't as bad as I had expected it to be :p The animation was good and we got to see some of the characters with their different personalities from the game which is enough for me ^-^

Not too bad at all, it's a very niche and unique setting, these "ship girls" lol. The size of the cast and the constant introductions are a little overwhelming, though it didn't stop it from being mindless, fanservice fun. Had no problems with the plot, easy enough to follow. The animation was pretty damn good, way better than what I initially anticipated. Sound effects were also crisp and good on the ears. 7/10.

I see Bismark at the end, she must be rather powerful, judging by the name.

Spin off seems to be purely slice of life, which I'm looking forward to. Wholesome daily adventures with these cute characters? Sounds like a very easy watch.
