Do You Consider Yourself a Generous or a Harsh Scorer?

Personally, I can be really generous with my scores. I have plenty of shows that are 7 and up and very rarely I give out shows below 5.

I can still bring scores down depending on my enjoyability. For example, "Hamelin no Violin Hiki" started out as a 7 but as I kept on watching, I brought it down to 5. On the flip-side, "Koisuru Asteroid" started as a 7 and then pushed it up to 8 and same goes for "22/7".

Personally, I do let a lot fly depending on how much I enjoy particular show. In regards of Death Note, I'm not really fond of the last couple of episodes of the Anime but still, it scored high 8.

The only thing that I've ever given "1" was Neon Genesis Evangelion: End of Evangelion.

So, where do you stand? Are you generous or are you harsh depending on you average score?

I mean I guess I would be generous? I have a mean score of about 8, although I like to think I'm watching all of the good shows, as from the looks of it I've rated the same amount of 9's as I have 7's. I'm definitely not the "I don't really like it, 3/10" guys. I have my own rating system, with 7/10 being the "mediocre" score.

I use "5" as the average score, so I'm neither generous nor harsh.

I tried to avoid being generous especially with overrated shows. I don't know if I became soft scoring or started watching anime from other seasons cuz my mean score went from 5,20 to 5,35 in 1 year.

Pretty generous, though I'm rather easy to entertain, which is exactly the reason why I watch anime. It's gotta be pretty average/subpar to score below 7 for me personally.

I wouldn't call myself generous, but I always don't consider myself harsh. I don't rate down every single aspect of the anime like visuals, music, and etc. Like I can rate an anime a 10 even if I didn't like the intro or outro. I just rate based on my personal enjoyment of the show so I guess I would be somewhere towards the middle.

I guess generous, no matter how much I hate something I always give it an overall score, never given a 1 or a 2 to anything (and I only have 2 Anime & Manga scored 3) and my average score is 7

Depends. I have a mean score of 5.17 so mostly likely im both

If I like very much to point I forgive the flaws or it's critically good then it would be in my S-Class 10/10
If I didn't find anything too spectacular at the same time I enjoyed well enough it would be 5/10
If I don't care for it or it's very boring and the flaws are very hard to ignore then it would be 3/10
If it's so bad, that possibly it can spiritually break me.... It would be 1/10 or it could join the unholy trinity in my 0/10
That's all there too it.

Generous, I rate considering what something is. I don't do the "It's a 3-minute anime, obviously it's a 4/10". If it's a good 3-minute anime I don't have a problem with rating it 10/10.

I would consider myself generous since I rate anime based on enjoyment. The lowest I ever gave an anime is a 4 and my mean score somewhere around a 7.44.

I'm slightly generous. I take 7 as the baseline, then add or deduct points according to technical execution and/or my enjoyment of the show. However, because I'm not very picky about plot or genre, I tend to just watch the popular or highly rated stuff (since they are more likely to be worth the time spent watching them), which would naturally skew my scores higher.

I don't mind a few minor issues here and there, so I'm perfectly alright handing out 8s and 9s if an anime is enjoyable or stylistic enough. Otherwise if a show is pretty normal and I like it, then it gets a 7. Perfect scores are reserved for shows that are really unique, high quality and/or made a significant impact to me.

5 and 6 are for shows that I think are decent but I didn't enjoy them as much compared to other series. Perhaps there were some flaws, or maybe I'm not the target audience. 4 or less are for shows that I think have serious flaws. Usually these are the ones that have me constantly questioning various aspects of the film, which breaks the immersion. Or they just bore me out of my mind.

Sometimes a single series may have really good parts and really bad parts, in which case I average them out. Examples are Death Note, Erased and Yuu Yuu Hakusho. I also look through my list from time to time and adjust the scores, as my standards may have changed over time and a 7 now isn't the same as a 7 last month. Or perhaps some time after finishing a show I realise it may be better or worse than I thought at the time of rating.

ehh kinda in the middle. I've an average of 5.18 but most of the shows I've rated are 6 or 7. It's just that my dropped list brings down my average by a lot.

I'm pretty generous, only reason my mean score is average is because I watch the crappy OVA's and specials of a lot of anime I like.

I am generally generous, but not so much anymore. Two reasons for why I was generous:

Users who are new give much higher scores. When I was new here, I only gave 8+, now I often give 6 or even 5.

Users whom are selective, researching every possible option for shows to watch before choosing, also give higher scores. I like to research for hours before picking a show.

Generous

Why?

Because even if one anime had flaws id still gave it 10 score if im really enjoyed it and liked the ending.

Generous if they are the sequels of franchises I love and I feel too generous with hentai, although the majority of ones I've watched doesn't fit the criteria to be franchise ranked so that might be the cause, given its overall minutes length.

I would say a hint of overall generous for the rest of the list, since I'm maybe thinking of trying to revise scores and lowering them.

Its very weird to give a 1 to an anime since thats mean everything in that anime is Bad, plot, characters, graphics, music, enjoyment , overall ... I have to hate It to the Core to give it a one ... Even with shows i hate i give 5, cuz i consider other aspects like animation wise was very good! Characters maybe werent that Bad but plot wise were a mess, plot IS the thing i value the most , and characters... So if a show in my list is 5 or 4 is cuz was lacking there

I'm really generous. Don't know if it's just a coincidence for me to get a bunch of 10's in a row, but I guess that's how it works for me at the moment.

Good = 10.

Average-Satisfactory = Drop/On-hold.

Bad = Drop.

I consider myself a generous scorer. I try to give my watched shows at least a 7, unless they really contain elements that disappoint me. Furthermore, my scores are relative, on basis of the genre involved, not absolute.
I don't rate shows which I drop when it's because I am uninterested in the premise.

My Mean Score: 5.62

I guess judging by it I am a generous scorer.
But personally I can rate a series low, not because its actually bad (boring, generic, repetitive).

But at times out of spite. Meaning if something in an anime pisses me off. Even if the anime has been monumentally fantastic up until that point. If something pisses me off, I will rate it based on emotional impulse, rather than my own standards of what makes a series greate.

I'm quite generous, my mean is above 7. I usually use the 7 for the anime/manga that have accomplished their objectives and have done what I expected from them. Anything below has been a bit underwhelming, and if it's 4 or less it means that I really didn't enjoy it.

If I don't enjoy and like it, I mostly won't finish it and if I don't finish it, I mostly won't score it. So, for me it makes sense today to give a 7 and 8 away more often. Especially a 7 and I know some things I scored with 7 aren't that good, but I still liked and enjoyed them.
Therefore, all in all, I'm going to be pretty generous. Also because I don't take them so seriously anymore.

I use very rarely numbers under 4 as well. They are either on Mars of Destruction-niveau or they really disturbed me from other viewpoints lol.

I consider myself a generous scorer. Most of my rated titles are scored 6, 7, or 8, even though I try to take 5 as my baseline. At least half of my 6s or 7s could easily be a point or two lower. I think that my average will go lower as my number of watched titles increases.
