After starting with Blood Orphans last year and watching 00 and Seed, i've now started watching the original Gundam and finished Origins. Personally i loved Orphans the most, Origins was amazing too, wish they would remaster the original mobile suit gundam series. The Reason why i thought Orphans was amazing was the characters and their interactions, the friendship between Orga and mikazuki was amazing, and the series throughoutly kept me on my toes, loved the ending as well, on top of that the animation was great. They did so damn well that i wish they would do more new Standalone Gundam Shows :S Take a shot every time Fraw Bow says Amurooo xD Whats your favourite one? Why? |

Gundam 00, for the philosophy. Also, the movie is the best! Although the end is meh. |

Unicorn, because every good thing of the 0079 franchise is there. And War in the Pocket, it's stupendous and probably the most realistic Gundam; story's great and the atmosphere of the OVA is one of the best of the whole series. |

Looks like part of the UC Timeline as a Sequel of the original Gundam Series Although i don't know how the UC Timeline Series connect to each other in terms of plot/story but yeah looks good, probably gonna watch that one next :P |

Gundam 00 is best than any of them, orphan is third after seed. why i love 00 is because the war conflict is almost close to code geass, the character development is better and full of drama and more. not to mention the opening and ending give the gundam 00 more unique vibe. I'm not big fans of gundam, maybe i dislike it before watching 00. it just like 00 is the only gundam series that I can take it. Seed is good too, but the art is unattractive to me. |

I have completed Gundam Wing and G Gundam, with the latter being my favorite. I've only seen bits and pieces of other Gundam series, but I've heard good things about Iron Blooded Orphans from friends, so I might check that one out eventually. |

The original 0079 series remains my favorite Gundam series. Amuro to me, is the greatest Gundam hero of all. You get to watch him grow, and his timeline is the most interesting. Zeta and ZZ were really good too, and I think I enjoyed ZZ slightly more than Zeta. Judau is a far more balanced character than Kamille, and ZZ had a much better conclusion than Zeta. War in the Pocket was interesting, as its perspective was different from most other things in the franchise, although I feel that it's a bit overrated. |

1. Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn-Great story that draws on the previous UC timeline titles, great characters, masterful epic soundtrack, and very well animated 2. Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team- Is set on Earth in a jungle setting and explores the part of the war going on the planet. It's a also a great star-crossed romance, and has squad based team tactics. 3. Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory-A fast paced story-driven OVA with a good story and interesting characters 4. Mobile Suit Gundam 00- I liked the story concept of Celestial Being, it was well animated, cool mecha designs, good music, and had some good characters. 5. After War Gundam X- An interesting story, with some nice mecha designs and I love the opening songs. Unfortunately the ending is a bit rushed. |

WARNING: Char's counterattack is too out of this world for all the reasons, that it won't be considered here. F91 ! (animation/drawings-wise) Overall? The Origin manga series retelling of the show AND the 0079 movies despite how shaky the second part is. Following Amuro (and the rest of the WB crew) was an incredible experience, I realized during the final (emotional) sequence that I actually loved them all (and Amuro particularly) despite being the kind of person who never liked/cared for a character (I... cried twice for the hero, for the 0079 finale and CCA's final sequence). The slight political background, the war you experience (both from a restricted and larger point of view) made it one of the greatest fictions I ever consumed. Yasuhiko's designs and animation, some voices (Furuya, my single favourite male japanese dubber), etc. Everything converged to make this exceptional. Slightly behind: 0080. Because it's a pretty anti-war story with a nice point-of-view, Mikimoto's charadesigns, and Hayashibara Megumi (in a Gundam!). Special mention to Turn A (despite its rather poor construction) and Victory (despite... tooo many things). Unicorn, apart from some moments, has an annoying "grandioseness" to it and often sounds like some Gundam fanatic delirium. syncrogazer said: G-Reco because it's Tomino insanity in its purest form. That Gundam autists don't understand it is a blemish on the fanbase. I want to see it so badly !! EVen more after reading you. I'm sure it's a proof that the man is both a talented creator/imaginator but needs people to actually reign him in, like what happened with the group work that the original Gundam ended to be. Coming back this week-end to watch the whole thing in a row. The G-Reco hosting Computer had disappeared... NOOOO @Daphi Victory is the last one using the U.C. calendar but G-Reco actually refers to the U.C. calendar as a past era. It is supposed to take pace later. Turn A is exploiting references to several gundam shows universes (showing archives from several series in the show itself). It is supposed to be a remote post-apocalyptic future of the many universes that existed back when it was developed. But as a Tomino show, it's mainly a big hopeful epilogue to his own universe/saga. Anecdote: I think Tomino once opened his mouth at a meeting to suddenly tell that G-Reco was supposed to take place AFTER Turn A (to the surprise of his collaborators). XD I think most people claim it is a false rumour or a joke. (maybe I archived it somewhere on my blog page referencing the Tomino things from the Internet, not sure anymore) I tried to correct the many false links between Gundam titles that are present on this website for two-three years. With not a single success so I kind of gave up. Try it too if you want something to eventually change. @Skana If you like Haruhiko Mikimoto's charadesigns, check out Macross Ai oboete imasuka, it's the only anime I know that successfully kept fully intact his designs while animating them. |

Iron-Blooded Orphans is my favorite, I've seen "00, seed and build". The reason I like Orphans is the process of becoming a pilot is painful. The whole "human debris" thing was awesome to me. The two girls loving the protagonist was greate. Finally the believable harem on the pirate ship was a pleasant bonus. |

Gundam 00. I don't really have an in-depth reason why. I just liked the premise a lot more than the others and preferred that the main character wasn't a a generic mecha show character like a lot of the Gundam (and mecha shows in general) are. The whole regular teenage kid who is caught in the middle of a war and it's now up to him to save the world. While Setsuna has the "chosen one" troupe, he at least has a proper backstory and actual chips in the game from the get go. |

Overall I would say 0079 because of Amuro(my fav Gundam MC) and Char(fav Char) and Zeon under the Zabis(fav antagonist faction). They were the originals so they stayed with me and subsequent Gundam shows and the parallel that could be drawn in my mind never really lived up to them. CCA was a nice conclusion to Amuro/Char story. In AU I would pick Gundam 00 because of its beautiful animation, music, character designs, and character development. Setsuna was also a great protagonist second to only Amuro imo. |

Gundam 0080 war in the pocket, with a heavy focus on civilians in conflict zones i find it rather compelling, the final 3 episodes are among my favorites in anime period. set towards the final weeks of the 1 year war (0079-0080) Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, an anime Vietnam war so to speak, pretty great at riding the moral grey area of such conflicts. also the only star crossed lovers story i enjoy ( when watching it i tend to skip the final episode as its quite bad sadly) also as im rewatching it i realized the federation troops are using L85 rifles... why |

IBO is definitely my favorite Gundam TV Series, and it isn't even that close. It just was very close to being perfect for me, with and ending that really fit the show and drove home the themes it established during its runtime. Just a very complete and well-rounded show with good action, great characters, great emotional impact, interesting politics and just overall everything I'd want from a Gundam, and more. But I also really, really loved Unicorn and War in the Pocket. The former for just being such a great and rewarding culmination of 30 years of UC Gundam. Everything came together so nicely and the whole show was just well writting and packed with interesting characters. It doesn't get much better in terms of (more or less) concluding the long UC history. And WitP is just the quintessential (anti) war story of the anime medium for me. Short, to the point, very impactful emotionally, with a variety of themes it deals with. And I really like the girl too :>. I gave all 3 of those 10/10 and I don't hand those out lightly. Just the fact that 3 Gundams managed to get this score from me amazes me to this day. Unshackled said: I haven't scratched the surface of this franchise but from what I've seen I've got to go with Orphans too. Idk how much Mari Okada wrote this thing but I can see her influences throughout the show. From what I heard we have her to thank for pushing through the ending in the form we got to see, instead of getting a forced happy ending for everyone out of nowhere. So to me she's probably the most important reason why I love IBO. |
I probably regret this post by now. |

Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack - yes it's a great movie but only in the context of 0079, Zeta and ZZ which should be watched first. Gundam Reconguista in G - at first siting I was repulsed but later after watching more Tomino stuff I started to see some sort of system behind his madness, tried this show again and now G-Reco is definitely the second best anime directed by Tomino for me. Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 compilation movies Zeta (preferably the compilation movies) + ZZ (which sounds absurd but it's actually good...man I like the guy with the rose) Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO Also Gundam Build Fighters is kind of fun and I like Seed just because it's absurdly over the top and cheesy. Never liked Orphans - too much Mari Okada in it. |

So far I like Zeta and War in the Pocket the most. However, I'm currently watching Turn A and really enjoying it, so that might become my new number 1 Gundam. Oh, and the Origin manga is great too, but I've only read the first few volumes. @Skana Technically 0080 is related to the first series, but you really won't miss much of the story if you haven't seen it before. They're no characters from the first anime and only some minor references. Also, if you like the designs you may want to check this anime out too: https://myanimelist.net/anime/949/Top_wo_Nerae_Gunbuster It's not related to Gundam, but it's another great short mecha OVA from the 80s. @syncrogazer I'm also really interested in G Reco. Judging from the pictures and videos I've seen, it looks like an amazing series. I really like the character and mech designs. But the extremely low score always discoured me... :D |
