in manga straight romance takes over 100 chapters or more to go anywhere
while gay romance you will see the pair kissing or fucking by the end of the first chapter
you've saved valuable hours of your life if you stick to the gays

Because it has inherent potential to narratively explore what can't be done with straight romance. I have a personal preference for yuri, but I wouldn't object to a yaoi if I heard good things about it.

@RyanOakes So what is it about stories involving gay romance that makes you want them to disappear completely?

I dislike them and despise them and always will.

@AltoRoark Well, you're hearing this from a heterosexual person so I'm assuming that explains quite a lot of things. I just don't like anything involving gay romance or relationships, as it just makes me just feel nothing special.

I'm gay and also apparently a masochist

Yaoi's more or less a comedy genre for me though, all attempts of a story go out the window once a character actually talks.

I mostly consume yuri doujinshi revolving around my ships. The NozoNico ones I own for example, are wonderful. Kanbayashi Makoto (the author/illustrator) really does a great job with character development, capturing the original characters' personalities, their interactions, the chemistry between Nozomi and Nico and how their romantic relationship eventually manifests.

But generally speaking, I just think it's cute if two people are in love lol

There's simply not being into gay romance, and then there's wanting it to be wiped off the face of the Earth. The latter is a ridiculous mentality that you don't need for people to know you're straight as an arrow.

I'm indifferent towards both, depends on how the relationship is written, much like straight couples.
Who are you and why do you show your hostility towards a complete stranger whom you've not once spoken with before. Are you seriously asking to get blocked? Well, if that's what your intent is; to tempt me into throwing hands with someone as lowly and insignificant as you, then i may grant your wish provided you articulate yourself a bit better when trying to spite a person of my wavelength.

yaoi is dumb but i've lived enough to know that it could be good if its well made.. it's just that most of the time it's not well made and it's not reasonable. They're simply " gay" and that makes no sense to me. I haven't really met a " super gay" but in general males are programmed to get turned on by females, and it's real bad if you don't maintain yourself regularly because it seriously starts affecting your brain (and your body)

yuri is way more acceptable to me because females are generally (genetically) cleaner and smell better. Less body hair means your sweat will smell less bad and i'm not really gonna go all scientific or do research here but if you google around you'll find enough stuff to convince you that females are generally cleaner. Less hairs, smaller, etc

gay romance has no chance of reproduction so gay romance is more " casual " and that's why yuri is more acceptable cus i can see yuri being more " fun " (due to factors mentioned above) and actually being possible to enjoy another woman's body but it just doesn't feel teh same way with guys - altho it is possible but it's just harder and rarer. A female can do it for fun, a guy would have to do it out of love cus if its for fun then he should simply go with a female cus their bodies are better and more attractive

if i were a female i'd be bisexual because that feels more normal to me and fem on fem engagements would be for 'fun' (even if my ' great love' was a female) while fem/male would be either for fun-for a change or for getting down to business
lots of music -

I'm not really a fan of either. I used to watch bl when I first started watching anime but I'm completely unable to watch it now, it's just so cringeworthy for me now, especially the cliches and rapey atmosphere. Same with manga usually (but it's easier to find some exceptions here). When it comes to gl I just find it boring, I never feel any good chemistry between the characters so it's kinda pointless. I dropped this season's Yagate Kimi ni naru and I'd rather die than watch Dakaretai Otoko, and this pretty much summarizes my approach to all of this nowadays. I never read any doujins either, it's cringeworthy to see the characters I know acting all out of the character.

One thing I do like are fanarts (and yaoi>>yuri in this case), if some characters have good chemistry in a show then why not, but only as long as the fanart doesn't try to make a clear uke/seme distinction. And while I do have some homo ships I obviously don't expect them to turn canon, I'm annoyed by all those fujoshis writing essays about their "canon" ships in obviously non-bl shows. Ugh.

I like or dislike pairs based on how much I like their chemistry. Not everything has to do with sex and how much I am personally into that.

I don't have particular preference on the matter. If I look for a romance story, I care about plot rather than genders of characters. Though I don't watch much yaoi since in general it's fujo bait with no good plot. I have seen some yuri, but overall, I don't particularly search for it. None-the-less there are some with good plot.

As a fan of both, i can only say it comes down to if the couple has chemistry or not, at least for me.

I prefer yaoi a bit better though, maybe because the thought of two guys being in love sounds suuuper cute to me. Irl girls already tend to have more skinship and stuff with each other but guys usually get grossed out easly when it comes to the same stuff with people of their gender for some reason, idk how to explain.

I do not feel sexually or romantically attracted to men, so yuri means to me that I have the chance to fall in love twice at the same time, something that would never happen in a straight romance.

Of course a good writing is more important, but it's not as if the yuri had to be bad written to be yuri.
heh.
